We Dug Coal Together AKA The Justified Pilot
Happy Wine Wednesday! This week a new guest to the podcast, Jay Giles, joins me on a trip to Eastern Kentucky for the pilot episode of the FX series, Justified.  We kick off the discussion by sharing what drew us to Justified and whether we read  the source material written by Elmore Leonard.  We then get into a deep dive of the pilot - starting with the very memorable standoff between Raylan Givens and Tommy Bucks.  Justified premiered in 2010, which was a much different world in terms of social awareness around police brutality, so Jay and I discuss whether or not this opening standoff between Raylan and Tommy would fly in 2022.  Although Raylan was very confident in the justification of his actions towards Tommy, we discuss whether we agreed with him.Justified has a very memorable, catchy theme song so of course we share our thoughts about it and where it ranks among our favorite tv show theme songs.  We also talk about the choice to pair this hip-hop meets bluegrass song with this show featuring modern day cowboy Raylan.Next, we get share our thoughts on our introductions to Boyd and Ava.  Timothy Olyphant and Walton Goggins were without question the standout performances in the pilot, so we talk about which actor left us wanting to know more about their respective character by the end of the pilot. We give our elevator pitch as to why you should continue on with Justified if you have not watched the entire series.  We also briefly discuss the Justified revival currently in production and whether we plan to watch.  Spoiler alert - of course we do! We both loved Justified.  Jay is officially introduced to the podcast thirst segment.  He shares his thirsty picks from the pilot and also accepts my challenge to guest cast an actor/actress that he has a crush on that he would like to see in the Justified universe.  There's a brief spoiler discussion in the main discussion.  Thanks to podcast editor Daniel, you'll get an alert when that discussion begins and I've flagged it in the chapter markers.  The brief spoiler detour begins around 1:02:44 and ends around 108:16 - just in case chapter markers aren't supported wherever you listen.  After the main discussion concludes, Jay and I discuss our thoughts on the series as a whole.  As always, you'll get a heads up before that discussion begins.I love you for listening! The Bob's Burgers Movie
Happy Wine Wednesday! Candi returns this week to discuss The Bob's Burgers's Movie.  Bob's Burgers is our favorite comfort show, so we were delighted when it was announced that the Belchers were coming to the big screen. You know I love discussing which characters we relate to from a show and there was no way I would pass on an opportunity to discuss which Belchers we see in ourselves.  We then touch on how the writers manage to acknowledge real life issues, such as the Belchers' financial struggles, while still creating a property that is both comforting and humorous.  Next, we get into whether there were any noticeable differences between the Belchers on film versus television. It wouldn't be Bob's Burgers if there were no musical numbers, so of course we share our favorite selections from the film.  Following that, we share our thoughts on the various arcs for each Belcher family member.  The secondary characters have become just as memorable as the Belchers, so we talk about which characters outside of the Belcher family we like most. It would be a little weird to share thirsty thoughts about animated characters, so this week's thirst segment has a little twist to it.As always, we love you for listening.  Find and follow Candi on Twitter here. You can give this pod a follow as well on IG and Twitter.  Longer feedback can be sent to morewinepod@gmail.com.Be sure to check out our prior episodes on Queer As Folk (2022), Fire Island, Looking, Empire, Minx, Sons of Anarchy,  Abbott Elementary, Grand Crew,  Claws, True Blood, Orphan Black,The Walking Dead, Teen Wolf,  Euphoria, and The Sopranos.  And check out our full series coverage of Pose and the very special Bob's Burgers episode all about Linda Belcher - our favorite wine mom.Support the show

Queer As Folk (2022) Pilot: Righteously Railed
Happy Wine Wednesday!  Stacey AKA Sticky Keys makes her triumphant return to the podcast this week to discuss the pilot episode of the Paramount reboot of Queer As Folk.  Content Warning: Mass Shooting; Gun ViolenceAfter sharing our respective histories with the Queer As Folk franchise, Stacey and I discuss the writers' choice to pull from the Pulse nightclub tragedy for the series opening.  Once we unpack our feelings about that, we then get into the rest of the pilot.  We talk about the very bold opening scene and New Orleans as the location for series.  We also discuss character introductions and  play a game in which Stacey tells me if my character arc predictions are hot or cold.  Following that, we get into standout performances, thirsty thoughts, and Stacey shares her thoughts on how this version of Queer As Folk stacks up against its predecessors. Fire Island
Happy Wine Wednesday! I'm back this week with Abbey and a very new special guest - Marcus - to discuss the delightful rom com, Fire Island. Our conversation kicks off with our thoughts on one of the things the writers did really well - intimacy.  We share our favorite romantically intimate scenes between Noah and Will, along with our favorite platonic intimate moment between Noah and Howie.  We discuss director Andrew Ahn's thoughts on the benefits of having an all queer cast when filming romantically intimate scenes like the beautifully shot rain scene.  Next, we get into one of my favorite themes - chosen family.  One of the delightful parts of Fire Island is its exploration of chosen family and intimate, but platonic bonds. Marcus and Abbey share their thoughts on how the writers  explored variances in the gay experience on Fire Island — a place considered by some as a haven for the LGBTQ+ community — as well as the variances in the kinds of relationships gay people value.Because Abbey has now joined me to discuss two properties known for featuring full frontal male nudity, I had to ask their thoughts on whether Fire Island could have benefitted from the same.  We talk replay value of Fire Island and whether or not we would like a sequel to the film.  As always, we close with our thirsty thoughts.  Thanks so much for listening! Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, and we use adult language.   And be sure to give our amazing guest Abbey a follow over on Twitter and on Instagram.  You can find Marcus on Twitter here.Be sure to check out Abbey's amazing coverage of Fire Island over at The Hollywood Reporter here, here, and here. The Pilot Project: HBO's Looking
Happy Wine Wednesday! I am so happy to welcome Terence B. Johnson back to the podcast this week for another installment of our special series, The Pilot Project.  We're heading to the Bay Area to discuss the pilot episode of the HBO's Looking. We kick off the discussion with our respective Looking origin stories.  I examine why this amazing series was not on my radar when it debuted and concluded that it had everything to do with the unfortunate decision to pair the show with Girls.  Next, we talk about the decision by the writers to cut to the chase and just drop us right into the action with Paddy and his very awkward foray into cursing.  From there, we discuss our initial character impressions from the pilot.  This allows for a fun game in which I make predictions about the main characters based on the pilot episode and Terence lets me know if my predictions are right or way off base.In a world of reboots, we share our thoughts on what our version of Looking what look like in 2022.  Returning to the Lena Dunham and Girls of it all, we discuss whether the constant comparison of Looking to Girls by reviewers was fair.  We also talking about the timing of Looking and how being set in 2014 informs the pilot's premise. I was surprised to find reviews of the pilot episode that described it as milquetoast - Terence and I talk about why this is wrong and why the understated approach works so well for this pilot. As always, we discuss standouts from the pilot and end on a thirsty note.  It should come as no surprise that the both of these segments focus heavily on Richie.  Raúl Castillo is a revelation! Thanks so much for listening! Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, and we use adult language.   Be sure to follow and support Terence here: his website, his Twitter account, and his IG. Cookies and Screams AKA The Empire Pilot
Happy Wine Wednesday! As you'll hear in the intro, this week's episode is one that I've been wanting to do for a very long time.  Special guest Candi returns this week to discuss the pilot episode of the messy, messy Fox drama/musical - Empire.  We've got the main discussion about the pilot episode and a really fun spoiler segment in which we discuss the top 10 ridiculous Empire moments.Empire is my current comfort show and having watched the entire series multiple times, unpacking this mess with Candi was like therapy.  As for the pilot, we talk about the casting of Cookie and Lucious.  Could you see Monique as Cookie or Wesley Snipes as Lucious? We also talk about our impressions of the newcomers to whom we were introduced, including Bryshere Gray, Trai Byers, and Jussie Smollett.  If you're looking for commentary about Jussie outside of his role on Empire, you'll have to stick around for the spoiler segment. You can't talk about Empire without touching on the show's amazing music, so we share our favorite songs from the pilot.  We discuss our favorite characters from this introductory episode and share what we liked and what we didn't like overall.  In our closing arguments, we share whether or not you should continue with Empire if you've only watched the pilot.  And, as always, we get thirsty! Who is so hot you might do a 17-year bid in prison for them? During the spoiler segment, we talk ridiculous moments, thoughts on the series finale, what Empire got right, and Empire's greatest crime against television writing.  We get into the Jussie of it all and remind folks that he wasn't the only one with some off-screen messiness as the series wrapped.  Say what you want about Empire, Lee Daniels leveraged his success to attract some serious heavy hitters to the series and we discuss which big name actor appearances we  enjoyed.  I also stand in my truth about my hatred of musicals, the very limited list of musicals that I actually enjoy, and Candi very kindly reminds me that Empire is in fact a musical show.As always, we love you for listening.  Find and follow Candi on Twitter here.Follow us on Twitter and Instagram at @MoreWinePod! The Pilot Project - Minx
Happy Wine Wednesday! I am delighted to have very special guest host Abbey White join me this week to discuss the pilot episode of Minx on Max.  We unpack the pilot, explore what this show set in the 1970s is saying to its audience in 2022, share our thoughts on the standout performances, and of course we get thirsty.  No spoiler segment this week because I have not watched the entire first season, but as you'll hear in this week's discussion, I have every intention to continue watching.  As always, I LOVE talking to Abbey and we had a fun, tipsy time that included me struggling through a very weird comparison of penises to clean eating.Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, and we use adult language.Follow us on Twitter and Instagram at @MoreWinePod! The Pilot Project: Sons of Anarchy
Happy Wine Wednesday! I'm back this week to discuss the pilot episode of one of my absolute favorite shows of all time - Sons of Anarchy.  Very special guest Lauren Sarner joins me to discuss Kurt Sutter's version of Hamlet on motorcycles.  Lauren is an entertainment journalist who covers TV at The New York Post. As always, we kick the discussion off by sharing what  drew us to the FX series.  Next, we discuss the show's iconic theme song and the very memorable opening credits.  We then get into our deep dive of the pilot episode.  We talk about the opening sequence in which we are first introduced to Jax Teller and of course we get into our initial impressions of our problematic fave, Gemma Teller Morrow.  Katey Sagal deserves so much praise for her portrayal of Gemma.  Katey was not the only perfect casting decision on the show.  We talk about the original pilot of the show and whether we could imagine a version of the series in which anyone other than Ron Perlman portrays Clay Morrow.  We follow our deep dive into the pilot by discussing standout performances and overall thoughts.  And as always, we take a few minutes to get thirsty.Lauren and I both completed the entire series, so the main discussion is followed by a brief spoiler section.  Have no fear, you'll get plenty of warning before the spoiler discussion begins. Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, and we use adult language. As always, we love you for listening.  Find and follow Lauren on Twitter here.Follow us on Twitter and Instagram at @MoreWinePod! Sh*t You Should Be Watching: Abbott Elementary
Happy Wine Wednesday! Special guest Candi returns to the podcast this week to discuss the delightful ABC sitcom, Abbott Elementary.  The main discussion focuses on episodes 1 and 2.  For those of you who like nice things and have watched the entire season, we have a spoiler section at the end where we discuss highlights from the entire season.  We kick off the discussion by sharing what drew us to the show.  After a recap of episodes 1 and 2, we break down the pilot and share our thoughts on the show's premise and how well the pilot did at introducing us to this fun cast of characters at this fictional West Philadelphia school.  Next, we discuss episode 2 and then share whether there was anything we did not like about our introduction to Abbott Elementary. As we did with Grand Crew, we talk about which characters we identify with from the Abbott Elementary cast and which ones we'd like to take a piece from and incorporate into our lives.  We talk about what separates Abbott Elementary from other workplace sitcoms and share some of our favorite entries from the genre.  We also talk about Abbott Elementary's mockumentary style and touch on other school-based shows that we enjoyed. We share our favorite Abbott Elementary teacher, standout characters, and favorite Philly moments from the show.  Of course we would never let an episode go by without getting a little thirsty, so we share which Abbott Elementary character we'd like to get some private lessons from. We truly believe in this show and want to encourage you to watch it.  In fact, Candi is so passionate about the show that she shares a rap she wrote about why you need Abbott Elementary in your life.  A very fun podcast first! Sh*t You Should Be Watching - Grand Crew
Happy Wine Wednesday! We are delighted to return this week to discuss NBC's Grand Crew. It's a no brainer that a podcast where we drink wine and talk about pop culture would cover this amazing show focused on a group of friends who also appreciate the joys of bonding over a good glass of wine.  Special guest Candi returns this week to discuss why you should absolutely be watching Grand Crew and why NBC needs to renew this show for several more seasons. During the main discussion, we talk about the first two episodes of the show.  Heads up, we understand that everyone is probably experiencing  a lot slap discourse  fatigue.  The topic organically came up in our discussion about the Grand Crew pilot, which opens up with a discussion about Black men having the space to be layered and complicated.  Following that, we talk about everything we liked and didn't like about the first two episodes of Grand Crew.  Spoiler alert - the only thing we didn't like was NBC's failure to properly promote this terrific show. As always, we get into the Qs that need some As.  We share the moment from the first two episode in which we truly felt seen by the Grand Crew writers.  We also celebrate the ensemble cast and the fun personalities reflected in all of the characters.  Of course we had to share which character we related to most.  We talk about what separates Grand Crew from other friendship comedies, as well as how the writers have woven contemporary topics into the show without coming off as a regurgitation of Twitter threads.Regular listeners know that we drink, we know things, we use adult language and we get THIRSTY! The main discussion closes out with the members of the Grand Crew ensemble with whom we'd like to get wine drunk. For those of you who were wise enough to watch the entire first season of Grand Crew, we have a fun spoiler segment where we talk about the rest of the season. As always, we love you for listening.  Find and follow Candi on Twitter here.Follow us on Twitter and Instagram at @MoreWinePod! Going Commando Under Denim AKA The True Blood Pilot
Happy Wine Wednesday! We are back with another installment in our special series, The Pilot Project.  Terence Johnson returns this week to discuss the pilot episode of one of our favorite guilty pleasure shows, True Blood.   It turns out that Terence and I had a LOT to say about True Blood, so this week you will get our main discussion on the pilot and next week we will have  a bonus spoiler segment in which Terence and I discuss the series as a whole. It's also worth noting that by the end of the first segment, a LOT of wine had been consumed and it shows. We kick things off by talking about what drew us to the True Blood pilot and whether either one of us read the source material.  Of course we talk about the show's theme song and the very memorable opening sequence. Following that, we get into the Qs that need some As.  We discuss the opening sequence and how Alan Ball introduced us to the world of Bon Temps.  We also put a modern day lens on True Blood and discuss whether we would be open to dating a vampire and if we would have curiosity about vampire blood.  You know we can't discuss a show about supernaturals or superheroes without sharing which special ability we would want. Of course we get into the Bill and Sookie of it all - their introduction, their chemistry, and the preview into their taboo love that we see in the pilot episode.  In honor of Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer meeting and falling in love on the set of True Blood, we discuss some of our favorite couples who met on the set. We also get into the episode standouts, which of course includes a salute to the very talented Nelsan Ellis (RIP).  We then give our final elevator pitch as to why you might want to continue watching True Blood and then things get thirsty! Thanks so much for listening! Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, and we use adult language.   Be sure to follow and support Terence here: his website, his Twitter account, and his IG. Shang-Chi and The Legend of the 10 Rings: Thank you for your service, Simu Liu.
Happy Wine Wednesday! We are back with a really fun discussion all about Shang-Chi and the Legend of the 10 Rings ("Shang-Chi") with songwriter, YouTuber, and 90s nostalgia junkie, Rod Kim.In between Jocelyn being extremely thirsty for Simu Liu, we managed to have an in-depth conversation about the film.  We share our prior exposure to the source material and touch a little on the Awkwafina of it all.  Rod shares the significance of Shang-Chi and FINALLY having a Marvel film starring an Asian lead.  We then shared the sh*t we loved about the film and the sh*t we didn't love about the film.  Spoiler alert - there is VERY little that we did not love about Shang-Chi.  Rod provides thoughtful, necessary insight on the importance of Shang-Chi telling the story from a very unique Asian-American perspective. Next up, we get into the Qs that needed some As.  This includes our thoughts on the use of non-linear storytelling, a complete love fest for the amazing action sequences, and we explore whether Katey's heavy involvement in the film made sense.  Shang-Chi is yet another entry into the MCU that highlights complicated family issues, so we discuss where the film lands among our favorite family ties caught on screen.  We'd be remiss if we didn't touch on parallels between Shang-Chi and Black Panther, given that both films broke significant ground in being lead by a person of color.  Both films also inserted a random White dude into the story, so we walk about Everett Ross and Trevor Slattery and whether their inclusion into these films made sense. Thanks to Shang-Chi, we have another amazing entry into the Marvel universe of superhero uniforms.  We swoon over Shang-Chi's costume and talk about our other favorite MCU costumes.  We then shift gears to talk about the film's MVPs and explore the replay value of Shang-Chi.  Is this a film that is relegated to a Marvel marathon or is it one that you'd actually play when you're looking for something good to watch? We close out the main discussion by introducing Rod to his very first thirst segment. Following our sign-off, we have a quick discussion about the mid-credit and post-credit scenes. Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, and we use adult language.  Be sure to support Rod - you can find all of his links  here.  You can also check out his podcast, Cyclops is Waiting for Me here.  And find Rod on YouTube here.Follow us on Twitter and Instagram at @MoreWinePod! The Claws Pilot - You had us at Niecy Nash
Happy Wine Wednesday!  We are leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe and heading to Palmetto, Florida for another installment of our special pilot project series.  Special guest Candi joins us to discuss the pilot episode of TNT's Claws. Our discussion kicks off with the Candi/Jocelyn origin story, which began thanks to Twitter and the ill-fated Universal Fan Con.  We then get into the main discussion and share how we became acquainted with the TNT dark comedy, Claws.  We share the sh*t we liked about the pilot and call out a few questionable writing decisions that we did not like in an otherwise solid episode. As always, we get into the Qs that need some As, which includes an examination of some very questionable decisions by Roller.  We discuss nail shop rituals, whether Virginia can be trusted, and the fun fashions worn by the ladies.Claws is a cast of heavy hitters, so of course we shared our thoughts on the performances that grabbed our attention in the pilot.  And no episode of I'ma Need More Wine would be complete without getting a little thirsty.  We had lots of thoughts on who from the cast we would like to dig our claws into during some sexy time.As always, we love you for listening.  Find and follow Candi on Twitter here.Follow us on Twitter and Instagram at @MoreWinePod! Eternals Pt. 2 - They f*cking, y'all!
Happy Wine Wednesday! We are back with special guest Abbey M. White with the conclusion of our discussion on Marvel's Eternals.  The episode picks up with the remainder of our thoughts on our favorite small group pairings in the film.  Next, we talk about the impressively diverse cast and whether Eternals manages to be equitable and inclusive, rather than just having diversity for the sake of diversity. With a slate of fun and exciting super powers on display in Eternals, we could not resist talking about which power we would like to have and why.  Of course we would be remiss if we did not discuss the criticism of Eternals.  In particular, we explore the film's use of non-linear storytelling and whether or not it was effective. The MCU is known for its action sequences and there are some really notable fights in Eternals.  We talk about how Eternals manages to fit within the Marvel algorithm while still being unique in some aspects when it came to featuring battles and conflicts.  You know what was outside the Marvel algorithm? Our heroes having sex! You know we had to discuss that.We dabble a bit into the mid and post credit scenes and share our thoughts on whether or not we are really done with Ikaris.  We then share our MVPs and discuss whether or not the use of big Hollywood names was a blessing or a curse with respect to audience and critic expectations. Of course no episode of I'ma Need More Wine would be complete without things getting a little thirsty.  The discussion concludes with us discussing which actors from the film make our heart skip a beat so much that we're hoping the Eternals can buy us more time with them by stopping the Emergence. Eternals Part 1 - Captains of the Drukkari Ship
Happy Wine Wednesday! Special guest Abbey M. White joins us this week to talk about Marvel's Eternals.  When Abbey says they want to talk about a movie, you give them a platform! Abbey takes us to church this week with their takes on the genius of Chloé Zhao and her very thoughtful, deliberate approach to creating Eternals.  It should come as no surprise that our thoughts on Eternals exceeded the run time of the film, so we broke the episode into two parts.  In this week's installment, we kick off the discussion by sharing our overall thoughts on the film.  The list of sh*t we liked about Eternals was much longer than the sh*t we didn't like or know how to feel about.  An early death in the film had Jocelyn hitting the Google to confirm whether the concept of "eternal" also means immortal.Next, we talk about balance.  Eternals has a very large and undeniably talented cast, so we discuss the balance across those characters and whether there were aspects of an individual's storyline that left something to be desired.  Following that, we discuss the small group pairings in the film.  The title of this episode should clue you in on one of our favorite pairings.  We also talk about smaller groups/pairings that we would have liked to see more of, like Gilgamesh and life.  No conversation about Eternals would be complete without discussing our thoughts on whether or not the film hit the mark on diversity and inclusion given the very diverse cast and the diverse backgrounds of the characters.  There is a quick preview of our thirsty thoughts segment and we close the first part of the discussion by sharing the characters that we are eternally done with thanks to their actions in the film.Part 2 will come out next Wine Wednesday, February 16, 2022.Follow us on Twitter and Instagram at @MoreWinePod! Stacey AKA Sticky Keys of the Beacon Hills After Dark podcast is back this week and you know what that means - MESS!  What kind of mess?  The pilot episode of ABC's Big Sky.  We kick off our discussion by sharing our respective Big Sky "origin stories."  Stacey is all in and up to date on Big Sky and Jocelyn is a newbie.  Next, we talk about the sh*t we liked and the sh*t we didn't like about the pilot.  As always, we had some Qs about the pilot that needed some As.  For example, why in the world was Merilee serving her husband cold, bland, oversized, pieces of bread for dinner?  We also unpack whatever "menopause talk" is and explore whether Big Sky is meant to be creepy, campy, or both.  Of course we talk about the jaw dropping moment at the end of the pilot and get a wee bit messy as we unpack the irony of Ryan Phillippe portraying a character in a mess romantic "entanglement." We close the spoiler-free segment out with our final verdicts on Big Sky and our thirsty picks from the pilot episode.  There is a brief spoiler section at the very end - don't worry, we give you lots of notice.Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, and we use adult language!Give Stacey a follow on IG and Twitter.  Find Stacey's amazing writing here.  Also be sure to check out the Beacon Hills After Dark Podcast on IG, Twitter, Tumblr, and Patreon.  You can give this pod a follow as well on IG and Twitter.  Longer feedback can be sent to us at morewinepod@gmail.com.As always, we love you for listening!  Did you like this episode of the The Pilot Project series?  Be sure to check out our prior episodes on Euphoria, The Walking Dead, Teen Wolf, and The Sopranos.  And check out our previous episodes on iconic shows like Pose, Bob's Burgers, Loki, and Black Ass Falcon and The Winter Soldier.  Into films?  We've got you covered.  Check out our past episodes on Black Widow, Avengers: Age of Ultron, The Suicide Squad, and The Thor-Verse.Support the show (https://ko-fi.com/morewinepod)

The Euphoria Pilot - Friendship, Love, Drugs, Sex, Trauma, and McSteamy?
Happy Wine Wednesday! We are back from the holiday break with an all new installment in our special series, The Pilot Project.  Very special guest and friend to the podcast Abbey White from The Hollywood Reporter joins us again to discuss the pilot episode of the critically acclaimed HBO series, Euphoria.  We kick things off by sharing our respective experiences with the series.  Abbey is a regular watcher while Jocelyn is a newbie.  Next, we discuss the sh*t we liked and the sh*t we did not like about the pilot episode.  The Euphoria writers are telling two different stories - one focused on teens navigating life and the other story that feels intended to scare the crap out of those of us in the audience who are far removed from our teen years.  The pilot was at its best when it focused on world building and laying out the challenges that the teens will grapple with as the series develops.  As always, we had some Qs that needed some As.  We had a lot of questions about teen boys hanging out with no shirts on.  Seriously, is that a thing?  We also discussed meaningful choices made in the pilot from the decision to make Rue's mother Black, the use of lighting and coloring, and musical selections.  As a regular watcher of Grey's Anatomy, Jocelyn had a lot of thoughts about the surprising appearance of Eric Dane AKA McSteamy in the Euphoria pilot.  We talk about that and other unexpected twists from the pilot.  We would never leave you without a thirst segment, but we did things a little differently this week.  Given that there are very few adult characters in the pilot, we went in a different direction and shared a few things/people that make us euphoric. For those who are all caught up on Euphoria or not afraid to know what happens after the pilot, we have a fun spoiler segment.  Worry not, spoilerphobes - you'll  have lots of warning before that segment.Follow us on Twitter and Instagram at @MoreWinePod! Send longer feedback to morewinepod@gmail.com.  And be sure to give  our amazing guest Abbey a follow over on Twitter and on Instagram.   You can find a great recap of their writing from 2021 here.As always, we love you for listening.  And a friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, and we use lots of adult language.  Did you like this episode of the The Pilot Project series?  Be sure to check out our prior episodes on The Walking Dead, Teen Wolf, and The Sopranos.  And check out our episodes on iconic shows like Pose, Bob's Burgers, and Black Ass Falcon and The Winter Soldier.  Until next time!TW/CW: drug use, self medication, suicide, self-harm, sexual assault Support the show (https://ko-fi.com/morewinepod)

Orphan Black - The Pilot Episode
Happy Wine Wednesday!  We are back with special guest Maddie this week for a discussion of the pilot episode of the critically acclaimed series, Orphan Black. We kick off the discussion with our Orphan Black "origin stories" in which we share when we started watching the series and what drew us to it.  We then move on to our overall thoughts of the pilot episode.  Unsurprisingly, there was very little we disliked about it. Next, we do a deep dive into the plot and discuss some Qs that need some As.  What would you do if you saw a woman standing on a subway platform taking off her shoes and putting down her purse?  What level of freaked out would you be if you bumped into a stranger who had your exact same face?  After you come across your doppelgänger, do you let it go or do you pursue more information?  We also unpack the many layers of Sarah's desperation and share our respective thoughts on the point at which she may have gone a little too far in her efforts to claim the money Beth left behind. No discussion about Orphan Black would be complete without praising the immensely talented Tatiana Maslany.  We also give our best elevator pitch as to why you should keep watching Orphan Black if you have not already watched the series and then things get a little thirsty. The episode closes with a spoiler segment.  Fear not - you will have lots of warning if you want to avoid them until you watch the series.  Be sure to follow Maddie on Twitter, IG, and Twitch.  You can give this pod a follow as well on IG and Twitter.  Longer feedback can be sent to us at morewinepod@gmail.com.As always, we love you for listening!  Did you like this episode of the The Pilot Project series?  Be sure to check out our prior episodes on Manifest, The Walking Dead, Teen Wolf, and The Sopranos.  And check out our previous episodes on iconic shows like Pose, Bob's Burgers, Loki, and Black Ass Falcon and The Winter Soldier.  Into films?  We've got you covered.  Check out our past episodes on Black Widow, Avengers: Age of Ultron, The Suicide Squad, and The Thor-Verse.Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, and we use adult language.  Until next time!Support the show (https://ko-fi.com/morewinepod)

Colton Haynes ALWAYS finds his light AKA The Teen Wolf Pilot
Happy Wine Wednesday!  Stacey AKA Sticky Keys of the Beacon Hills After Dark Podcast joins us this week for the third installment of our special series - The Pilot Project.  Halloween might be over, but we are still in a spooky ooky mood, so we are heading over to Beacon Hills, California to discuss the pilot episode of Teen Wolf. As you can imagine, we had a lot of fun at the expense of Jeff Davis, so we started the episode by saying something nice about Teen Wolf before the dragging commenced.  We then talk about what drew us to the series and share our overall thoughts on the pilot.  Next up, Jocelyn had some Qs that were in serious need of some As.  For example, were Scott and Stiles too old to be playing the "wanna see a dead body" game?  Just how quickly does Tyler Hoechlin go from clean shaven to 5 o'clock shadow?  Speaking of Hoechlin, what was the deal with Derek just appearing out of thin air?  And how adorable was Stiles in his suit and tie for a basic high school house party?Following that, we demand justice for Harley and have fun reflecting on some of the behind the scenes insights revealed in Entertainment Weekly's oral history of Teen Wolf, which you can find here.  The spoiler-free part of the episode closes with a riveting thirst discussion.  We talk about the objects of our thirst from the show and ponder what sex with a werewolf would be like.  Stacey teaches Jocelyn the meaning of refractory period and we share which spooky ooky supernaturals are at the top of our thirst list. For those who stick around for the spoiler section, we chat best villains, toughest departures, unintentionally hilarious moments, and character arcs.Give Stacey a follow on IG and Twitter. Be sure to check out our prior episodes on The Walking Dead and The Sopranos.  And check out our previous episodes on iconic shows like Pose, Bob's Burgers, Loki, and Black Ass Falcon and The Winter Soldier.  Into films?  We've got you covered.  Check out our past episodes on Black Widow, Avengers: Age of Ultron, The Suicide Squad, and The Thor-Verse.Friendly reminder - we drink and we know things.  Until next time!Support the show (https://ko-fi.com/morewinepod)
