Why you're effed About the sponsor.
often times sponsors mean well but don't have the life experience or expertise in addiction treatment in life rehabilitation. Often times the sponsors are not able to provide the most beneficial advice to sponsors and subsequently lead the individual to a slow road in recovery. Addiction recovery is not the final destination - the final destination in addiction treatment is full Rehabilitation. typical responsibilities and people in addiction recovery drastically underestimate what it really takes two transcend from addicted to fully rehabilitated and living a life that's based on self care. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/sober/message

Part 5 Why you're effed The power of monitoring your progress.
There are two types of people in addiction recovery; 1 half-measures, people who dilly-dally around and don't take there addiction recovery seriously. 2. People who have a sense of urgency and therefore intentionally pursue their addiction treatment vigorously. For close to twenty years I've seen individuals in addiction treatment into camps; those who thrive because their intentional and they intentionally monitor their progress or lack of progress. 2. Those who pursue addiction recovery in a half-hearted way not making much progress and not understanding why.. These people often don't even care. Recovering from drug or alcohol addiction isone of the single most difficult challenges that a human being will ever have to go through. I will tell you firsthand that typically most people dramatically underestimate the amount of effort and commitment that's required to fully recover and thrive after inpatient or outpatient addiction treatment. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/sober/message

I'm very happy with how this episode came out - most of my usable tools and teachable moments are shared in this episode. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/sober/message

Why you're effed Part 3
As a veteran with almost 20 years involved in addiction recovery and life rehabilitation. I've identified that typically addiction recovery professionals and people in 12-step don't actually have the experience in life and addiction treatment to guide a individual from addicted to fully rehabilitated over 5 to 10 years. Typically people involved in addiction treatment and life Rehabilitation don't have the experience to guide a individual to living a addiction free lifestyle that's based on self-care - including vigorous outdoor exercise, healthy eating, learning how to shed emotional baggage through healing emotional wounds, etc. Typically you'll find that competent sober coaches have a unique set of life experiences that can help guide someone up the learning curve faster than a typical addiction treatment professional. Why you're F'd Series Part 1
There is a lot of fluff going around in addiction recovery. Typically addicts and alcoholics completely ignore the old adage "you'll keep getting what you're getting if you keep doing what you're doing " - continuing smoking and nicotine addiction - completely under estimating the power of getting healthy physically. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/sober/message

Your mobile device is crippling you and you don't even know it!
Do you have enough self-awareness to do anything about it? Mentioned in this episode; Who Am I? I am your constant companion. I am your greatest helper or heaviest burden. I will push you onward or drag you down to failure. I am completely at your command. Half the things you do you might just as well turn over to me, and I will be able to do them quickly, correctly. I am easily managed - you must merely be firm with me. Show me exactly how you want something done, and after a few lessons I will do it automatically. I am the servant of all great people; and alas, of all failures as well. Those who are failures, I have made failures. I am not a machine, though I work with all the precision of a machine plus the intelligence of a human being. You may run me for a profit or turn me for ruin - it makes no difference to me. Take me, train me, be firm with me, and I will place the world at your feet. Be easy with me and I will destroy you. Who am I? I AM HABIT. Critical importance of monitoring your progress. Part 1.
Recently I found myself in a chronic discontent state. I use my daily self-reflection and self-assessment to identify that I had made mountain size gains and progress in my life since I entered my journey in addiction recovery back in 2003. taking the time to process these emotions have brought me back to how well I'm doing and to remind myself that I have a choice and how I feel today. I've made incredible progress and in the big picture I'm grateful for how far I've come. the goal of this episode is to give you some perspective on using self-diagnosis as a tool and your addiction recovery. Self diagnosing is a game changer - we don't always have to rely on other people's advice. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/sober/message
