Ericka took money she earned from service-based businesses and working as an apartment manager to invest in real estate and trucking. She now manages 1.9 million dollars in assets via over 12 semi trucks, 9 rental properties, and working on a new project called Texas Ground Zero. 070: How to Build a 6-Figure Net Worth on Any Income w/ Ashley Copeland
Ashley Copeland is the twenty-something host of Stacks and the City, the podcast dedicated to showing women how to build wealth and increase their net worth. Raised by a single mother in rural North Carolina, Ashley learned early about how money can affect your way of life. She opened her first investment account at age 21 and purchased her first investment home at 24. As a result of her work, Ashley amassed a six-figure net worth without ever earning a six-figure salary!   This episode with Ashley is SO good. I love the way she breaks down the difference between salary and net worth. My biggest takeaway from this episode is that it doesn’t matter how much money you make - you can still build wealth! 069: How TheCoilBrush Was Created by Ree Farrington
Ree Farrington is the owner and inventor of the natural hair styling tool called The Coil Brush. As a wife and mother of three that wears multiple hats on a daily basis, adding inventor and entrepreneur to the list was an unexpected surprise. In less than a year's time and with no background in engineering, she turned a silly idea into a top-selling product. It was so great talking to Ree about launching a new product line from the ground up! I learned so much about product development and even where to look for legal resources online. 068: Bag Check: Being Laid off, Unemployment, Therapy, New Job, Rental Updates.
On today’s episode, I am talking about being laid off, applying for unemployment, getting a new job, wanting to go to therapy, and rental updates. In this episode I am very transparent about what’s going on with my money, being laid off for the first time, how I was too prideful to apply to unemployment and what made me finally apply.  Honestly, I didn't want to talk about a lot of these things but I wanted to show that even when you think people have it all together... sometimes they don't and it's okay! That’s life and life happens. Sometimes you have to put your pride aside and ask for help. Money has so many emotions tied to it and it’s okay to feel the feels. 067: How to Create a Natural Hair Product for Young Boys w/ Cora Miller
Our guest for this episode, Cora Miller, is a perfect example of using the times to your advantage. When looking for a natural hair care product for her young son, Cora couldn't find anything that catered to young Black and brown boys. So she made her own! Shortly after that experience, she founded Young King Hair Care. In this episode, she talks about the manufacturing process, her vision for retail, branding, her super fast growth and so much more. If you are wondering how to get your product out there to the masses this episode IS FOR YOU! I learned so much from Cora about the product creation process. 064: How to Invest in Real Estate Without Owning Properties w/ Tommy Holt Jr.
Can you imagine making money from real estate investments WITHOUT actually owning any properties?! Today’s guest is teaching us how to do just that, investing in real estate in a less traditional but VERY strategic way.  Tommy Holt Jr. started his real estate career in 2008 when he became a real estate agent while still working a full-time job as a SWAT officer in Miami. He quickly recognized during the start of the 2008 recession that only the strong and resourceful investors would still be in the game after all the dust had settled. During this time is where his love for real estate INVESTING started to take shape. His first flip resulted in a $10,000 loss, but after a ton of research and support from different mentors, he found massive success in wholesaling. Since then he’s done over 100 wholesale deals and has 7 AirBnB properties in 2 different countries.  You have to listen to the entire episode because it is mind blowing the way he invests and the way he thinks about real estate investing.  Sponsored by:  Avail Property Management System.
