HTFS 040: The froSTING of Success – Gigi Butler
The froSTING of Success Entrepreneurship is the path you and I have chosen; a path filled with twists and turns and yes, failures, that will test our resolves. Not all of us will make it, at least not in the way we initially intended. As we have seen time and time again, today being no different, a spirit with fortitude, a willingness to stare our fears in the eyes as we walk through them is the necessary recipe to continue on this path. The life of an entrepreneur is not always going to be rainbows and puppies, but as today’s guest shows us, it does sometimes have cupcakes. Gigi Butler joins us today to share her rags to riches tale, a story that truly exemplifies the American Dream. This is an uncut single episode this week where I join Gigi in her kitchen to hear this amazing story…and I got cookies on my birthday. Who is Gigi Butler? With even more courage than she has frosting, Gigi Butler started her entrepreneurial journey before she was old enough to drive. At 15, she began a cleaning business as a means to fund her real dream, to become a country music star. Cleaning bathrooms by day with water and pail in tow paled in comparison to the thought of the bright stage lights on Broadway in Nashville, TN. She continued this way for over a decade before she was willing to leave those lights behind for the light at the end of the tunnel…well, an oven light if we’re going to be precise. With $33 left in her account and multiple banks declining loans, Gigi leveraged her personal credit cards to open the first Gigi’s Cupcakes on that very same Broadway in Nashville in 2008. Gigi’s cupcakes franchises quickly spread across Nashville and America like a smooth buttercream filling in the confectionary cracks in our lives. Today Gigi still owns the original location, but has shifted her focus towards helping inspire entrepreneurs like us. She’s appeared on Undercover Boss and written an autobiography entitled The Secret Ingredient: Recipes for Success In Business and Life. I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed those cookies. Thank you for listening. Find more from Gigi Find the book here…The Secret Ingredient: Recipes for Success In Business and Life. HTFS 039: The Art of StorySelling Pt.2 – Dom Cappuccilli
The Art of StorySelling Telling a good story often comes down to how well the author relates to the audience. How do you tell a good story?  In this episode of How to Fail Successfully Dom shares how every good movie is now ruined for him because he has identified the 4 pieces to a great story. Listen as Dom breaks down Star Wars and shows how crucial it is that every story includes these 4 different pieces.  Who is Dom Cappuccilli? Dom Cappuccilli has helped hundreds of entrepreneurs to not only tell a better sales story, but also built many of their sales efforts from the ground up. He combines the power of a trained storyteller with the real world experience of an elite salesperson. In fact, he became an elite salesperson because he was a trained storyteller. After 10 years as a reporter, author and screenwriter, Dom found his calling when he rewrote the sales story of a fast-growing healthcare company and doubled their revenue in six months. From there, he quickly rose to be a sales leader at unicorn startup ZocDoc – currently valued at $1.8B – before going to Arches Technology where he created and sold an entirely new healthcare technology product to health systems. During his time in the startup and small business world, Dom met many founders and was amazed that almost all of them were succeeding in spite of their sales effort and strategy, not because of it. The Clean Sell was born soon thereafter and in time since its founding has helped hundreds of entrepreneurs to not only tell a better sales story, but also built many of their sales efforts, processes and teams from the ground up. HTFS 038: The Art of StorySelling Pt.1 – Dom Cappuccilli
The Art of StorySelling Telling a good story often comes down to how well the author relates to the audience. The same can be said for a good salesperson. Finding the proper way to relate to your client is the difference between closing the sale and the client walking away. Dom saw this connection and has been utilizing it to build a highly successful career. On this episode of How to Fail Successfully, Dom shares his story of how meager beginnings and false starts in journalism, screen writing and as an author flourished into a brilliant career in sales and ultimately beginning his own booming business, The Clean Sell. Who is Dom Cappuccilli? After a decade long stint learning the art of storytelling, Dom went on to a sales career at ZocDoc where he rapidly rose through the ranks. From there, he became the vice president of business development at Arches Technology and then a senior consultant at JJELLYFISH where he still consults today. Dom is also the founder of The Clean Sell, a B2B customer development execution firm that works with corporate innovation teams, established companies expanding to the U.S. market and rapid-growth startups. Dom has helped hundreds of entrepreneurs retell their sales stories in a way that effectively captures the attention of the clients they’re seeking. We all have a story to tell, but after living that story day to day, year after year, our perspective can become narrowly skewed. Dom shows us the importance of readjusting that tunnel vision, so our story is relatable again to the largest audience possible. Its the same type of adjustment we entrepreneurs are making through this podcast, turning failures into tiny blips on life’s radar rather than giant roadblocks to our success. Thanks for listening. Jeff shares stories from his early days as a struggling actor including his time as one of my employees at the Gordon Ramsay restaurant. Even after booking his first big movie as the lead in the movie Drumline: A New Beat, Jeff faced numerous rejections including getting to the final rounds of auditions before getting the dreaded call no actor wants to hear.   Who is Jeff?  Jeff Pierre was born in Boston to a Haitian family and also grew up in Massachusetts. He graduated from Northeastern University in Boston with a degree in criminal justice. One of Pierre’s earliest roles dates back to 2010, when he appeared in the short film Eyes to See. He also starred as Tyree in the VH1 original movie Drumline: A New Beat, and guest starred on Workaholics, Glee, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and Anger Management. Pierre is best known for his two-season recurring role as Caleb, one of Ian’s love interests, on Showtime’s Shameless. He landed his first series regular role on Freeform’s Beyond as Jeff McArdle. The series is currently in its second season. Pierre had an appearance in Todd Phillips’ War Dogs, which stars Jonah Hill and Miles Teller. In 2016, he starred in the film Tomboy by Lee Friedlander.   Follow Twitter: @HTFSuccessfully Facebook: @HTFSuccessfully www.howtofailsuccessfully.com   The post HTFS 021: The Once Upon A Time Prince – Jeff Pierre appeared first on HOW TO FAIL SUCCESSFULLY.
