Have you ever wished that someone would just give you a checklist so you could mark off the steps to get your homeschool off the ground? How am I ever going to teach my kids math?! - There is no room in my tiny little house for a schoolroom. Now what? - Organization is a foreign language to me. How can I possibly keep track of all the books and supplies and records and “stuff”? Advice From A Reluctant Homeschooler Turned Curriculum Founder
Description & Show Notes When Sonlight’s founder, Sarita Holzmann, first realized she needed to homeschool, she was not thrilled. She found herself overwhelmed, uncertain, and reluctant. After starting, she found that, with her literature-rich method, she actually loved this new dimension of her life. At that time, there were no complete curriculum programs available; moms had to assemble products piecemeal. She started Sonlight because she found that homeschooling was such a blessing to her and her family, and she wanted to make that blessing available to others … like you. As Sonlight celebrates 30 years of connecting families and helping kids love to learn, hear Sarita’s powerful story and be encouraged by her amassed homeschool advice. Join Stephanie as she talks with Sarita and Judy about their #sonlightstory. They will talk in detail about how literature-based learning will have your children begging for one more chapter. The podcast is full of veteran homeschool advice and encouragement invaluable to both new and veteran homeschoolers.   Links & Resources From This Episode What to see how a literature-based education can work for your family? Meet Sonlight's Mission Agency Partners
Description & Show Notes Meet Sonlight's Mission Agency Partners: Mission India, Pioneers, The Seed Company and Far East Broadcasting Company Since 1990, John and Sarita have had missionary support held in their heart. When Sarita started Sonlight her initial purpose was to enable missionary families to stay one more year on the field. You see, the second most common reason—at least back in 1990—was because they didn't know what to do about their children's education. Sarita knew she could do something about that and she set to work starting Sonlight. This year as part of Sonlight's 30th-anniversary celebration, we are combining the two things that helped start Sonlight; books and missions into our first ever Sonlight Read-A-Thon. Children can raise money for missions, simply by reading great books. And Sonlight will match the donations up to $200,000. Together let’s raise at least $400,000 to support the ministry of these participating agencies. To kick off Sonlight Connections: A Homeschool Podcast's second season, Stephanie is talking with the four mission agencies involved in the Sonlight Read-A-Thon, Mission India, Pioneers, The Seed Company and Far East Broadcasting Company.   Links & Resources From This Episode Interested in reading for missions?
