Coffee with Dave 003
Welcome to Home Made Problems podcast. Today Dave and I tackle the subject of Sabbath. What is the Sabbath and how does it relate to our families. So, perk yourself some coffee. Sit back and join the conversation. No. Really! join the conversation online at homemadeproblems.com. Comment on the podcast. Let's start a conversation together. Because life is full of problems. Let's fix them together...   The scripture we referenced during the podcast:   Exodus 20:8-11English Standard Version (ESV) 8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. Romans 14:5-6English Standard Version (ESV) 5 One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God. Mark 2:23-27English Standard Version (ESV) Jesus Is Lord of the Sabbath 23 One Sabbath he was going through the grainfields, and as they made their way, his disciples began to pluck heads of grain. 24 And the Pharisees were saying

What is Prayer? Communication is the key to relationship. Prayer is the practiced communication with God.   How do you know that your not just talking to yourself? II Corinthians 3. Take every thought captive.   Would God ever not listen to my prayers? Sin complicates things! We need forgiveness to communicate with God. Proverbs 4:23-27. If your heart is not right with God; then there will not be communication.   How do we pray? Matthew 6 is an example given to us from Jesus.   Father, son, and daughter relationship is our goal. Philippians 4. Have a humble approach to God. Pray with the scriptures.   Can we anger God when we pray?  What if we are hurt, lost, and angry? What if we take our frustrations out on God? The Psalms are a good example of how David cried out to God.   Not my will but yours be done God. Jesus prayer in the garden. Matthew 26.   Acrostic:a series of lines or verses in which the first, last, or other particular letters when taken in order spell out a word, phrase, etc.   Adoration: the act of paying honor, as to a divine being; worship. Confession: acknowledgment or disclosure of sin. Thanksgiving:  grateful acknowledgment of benefits, especially to God. Supplication:  humble prayer, entreaty, or petition.   Don't worry! Let your speech come from your heart. Keep it natural...   Sin misdirects us from God. Prayer requires us to admit that we need God.   What about chanting? Matthew 6:7 do not babble on when you pray.   Forgive others just as God has forgiven you. Matthew 18:21-35.   Visit us at homemadeproblems.com.   Like us on Facebook letsfixthemtogether.   Bible Gate way is an amazing resource visit there website biblegateway.com or download their app for Android or Apple.

Coffee with Dave 001
Lets start with Romans 6:3-7. What's that? Sorry Dave. Lets start with Romans 6:1-7...   Romans 6:1-7New International Version (NIV) Dead to Sin, Alive in Christ 6 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? 3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. 5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. 6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with,[a] that we should no longer be slaves to sin— 7 because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.   What is baptism. The Greek word means to immerse, to plunge, to dye. But, what does in mean to you spiritually?   You can find out. Just have a listen...   Here are a few more scriptures that we reference through out the show.   Mark 1:5, John 3:23, Mark 1 :9-10, Acts 8:38-39, Hebrews 9:13-14, I Timothy 1:14, Mathew 28:19-20, and Romans 4:11...   Check out Bible Gateway online or download there free app on your smart phone. It is a great resource to look up verses in the Bible in many, many translations.
