In Episode 28 of the Holy WIT Podcast we tackle the idea that the church needs to repent about how they see and respond to those in the LTGBQ community. We continue with the conversation with Wilna van Beek who is the author of When Gay Comes Home - Learning To Build Bridges. Do we trust Holy Spirit to do the work in the background while we simply love others? If we don't trust Holy Spirit then we are trying to be in control and be our own little god. If we are to really love others we first need to allow God to deal with what is in our own heart. Jesus hung out with people and in doing so those people were changed. In this Episode of Holy WIT Stephanie has a great conversation with Wilna van Beek who is the author of When Gay Comes Home - Learning To Build Bridges.  Wilna operates a ministry called God Gazers - Bridge Builders Ministry whose mission is to come alongside family and friends who journey with loved ones who have come out as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer/questioning (LGBTQ) teaching them to see their loved ones with the eyes of Jesus.This is part one of a two part conversation in which we get to hear Wilna's own story of how she lived in a gay lifestyle until later in life when she overcame her same sex attraction by allowing Jesus to heal the root issue.

This episode is a response to the Heaven Bent Podcast - The Devil Himself and we talk about the reality of satan and the demonic in the here and now.  Satan is not a metaphorical being but is a created being, a fallen angel.  We discuss how we know that the demonic is real as we see throughout scripture and what power satan has in our world today.  Where we see the oppression of the demonic is in the lives of individuals, over groups and organizations.  We learn how deliverance is for every follower of Jesus, is a process and how freedom is lived out and maintained in community. 

 Episode 25 is a part 2 of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit as we continue our response to the Heaven Bent Podcast . As we focus more on the gift of prophecy, we are joined this week by Pastor Kervin Raugust as he gives us his learning and wisdom. We discuss prophesy from the lens of both the old and new testament prophets. The current teaching in the church that prophecy is mainly for encouraging is challenged as it is also needed for warning and exhortation.  We learn what is needed to become mature in the gift of prophecy and what is necessary to test a prophetic word that have been given to you.

We talk specifically about healing, prophetic words and speaking in tongues.   Healing is discussed from a holistic point as we discuss how healing can occur in either the heart, soul, body and spirit and more than often a combination of these domains.We look at the prophetic from the lens of both the old and new testament prophets.  The current teaching in the church that prophecy is for encouraging is challenged as it is also needed for warning and rebuke.   We wrap up looking at speaking is tongues and clarify between praying in tongues and speaking in tongues.  We discuss how it can be for self edification, edification of the church body and even in spiritual warfare.

Episode 23 begins a series that is a response to the individual episodes found in the Heaven Bent Podcast series by Tara Jean Stevens.   This week is a response to the topic of revival as Tara Jean Stevens looks at the Toronto Blessing that began in 1994.   We talk about the questions, what is revival and how do we know we are in it?  How do you know we are not in it?We tell of our own experiences being part of conservative churches and then more charismatic churches and how Holy Spirit was taught from the pulpit and experienced in these different settings. Also in this episode we are joined by our friends Marcel and Aurelie Sondermann, Brent Carlson and Marci Muncey.  We hear their real life stories of the churches they grew up in and what these churches taught about Holy Spirit and the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers.Each of our guests then go on to share their experiences with the Charismatic church and how the Holy Spirit was taught and experienced in these churches. 

 In Episode 22 we are beginning our True Fruits series that is a response to the individual episodes found in the Heaven Bent Podcast series. We believe that as Holy Spirit is alive and active in the Body of Christ today we experience the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. We see miracles, healing, deliverance, and the prophetic happening today in our lives.Each week over the next while as we will be responding to each of the Heaven Bent episodes we will do that with a balanced biblical and experiential approach. In Episode 21 Cam and Stephanie ask What’s Love Got To Do With It? No it’s not the song by Tina Turner, the “it” in the question is conflict. So what does love have to do with conflict? It seems like the two are so opposite that they would have nothing in common. When conflict comes we can tend to believe it is the end of the relationship but it can actually be the deepening of a relationship if it is done in the right kind of love. Too often love fails because we have been taught a common love. In the conversation that Jesus has with Peter in John 21 Stephanie breaks down for us the 3 different kinds of love that is found in the original language of scripture. We go on to discuss which of these types of love is needed to not take offense so that conflict is resolved not ignited by emotion. If we have common love for each other then what happens when the thing we have in common is gone? We then need to grow in the “best interest” love which will deepen the relationship and give the other person the benefit of the doubt. This happens in marriages when just getting married and having kids is the common interest. So when the kids are grown and moved out the husband and wife feel estranged if they have not moved from the common interest love to the deeper love in their relationship. In part two of healthy conflict resolution Stephanie is joined again by Marci. They take a look at a roadmap for those who have been asked to mediate a conflict or are wanting to find a mediator for their conflict. What are the next steps if you can't come to a resolution one on one? What should be the determining factors when choosing a third person as a mediator?They discuss the roles of a mediator in conflict resolution from bringing clarity to prayer to keeping the conversation going in the right direction.The conversation warps up with the discussion around the question "what is it that causes people to avoid conflict even though the result of conflict resolution creates a healthier relationship?"To learn more contact us about our Broken Branches Series.

We talk about Paul's direction  in 1 Corinthians 5 to kick someone out of community turning them over to Satan for a time for the destruction of their flesh.We discuss what it means to repent and take our thoughts captive in order to change the way we live.Do we kick the person out of community after one offense? At what point do we kick them out of community and send them away?When an individual is sent out of spiritual community they are removed from the protective covering that is part of the community. The story of Job examples what it means when someone is moved outside of God's protective covering. Using the example of medieval kings and kingdoms we see a great example of being under the protection of the king and living in the castle and walls.We wrap up talking about when and how to bring that person back into spiritual community to fill the place only they can fill. Stephanie asks us to answer the questions:Who gains by Christians living substandard to God's way? Who gains from permanently separating the repentant sibling from our communities? 

 In the last episode we ended with the question "Who gains by Christians living substandard to God's way?" and "Who gains from permanently separating the repentant sibling from our communities?"   In part one of the healthy conflict resolution within community episode Stephanie is joined by Marci. They look at what unhealthy conflict looks like in comparison to healthy conflict.Throughout the episode they discuss what the end goal of healthy conflict is.The episode is wrapped up with the discussion about bringing Holy Spirit into the conflict and actively listening to truly hear the other person.Episode 2 takes a look at a roadmap for those who have been asked to mediate a conflict or are wanting to find a mediator for their conflict. 

In this episode Cam and Stephanie Harris talk about whether or not we are to judge.  Looking at the scripture 1 Corinthians 5 about the man who was sleeping with his fathers wife and the response of the fellowship.  The apostle Paul's taught about how to deal with someone who is in your spiritual community and being unrepentant.   He talks about not being present and passing judgement on it.We delve into the improper teaching that is in many churches that we are not to judge.  We in fact are to judge the actions of others in spiritual community but are not to judge those outside of our spiritual community.We finish off with talking about why we tend to avoid those conversations with those individuals and how it may reveal something in us that God needs to deal with.

In this episode Stephanie makes the statement that "the everybody wins ideology has no ground".  We talk about this quote from Dr Stuart Anderson that is found in the End of Churchianity film."The church has adjusted our theological stances to follow after the changes in society. The church wanted to be included and so we have constantly incrementally changed our stance on a whole range of social values and issues. But the end result of that has been that well we might be socially included we are now spiritually excluded. That we are socially relevant but spiritually irrelevant."God has set the standard that we are to live by and our responsibility is to maintain that standard.  Learn what it means to practice our gifts in community so that we have support and encouragement to learn and grow. 

In this episode Cam and Stephanie discuss pseudo community and talk about what concessions are usually made to have pseudo community? When we live in denial and put a mask on to be accepted then we believe that we have to continually live in a false identity to be accepted. To truly live as an authentic person we need to risk being truly known by others in a safe community. When each person lives this way it will lead to authentic community. Looking at the 12 disciples we consider their relationships with each other. If Peter was part of a modern day small group he would probably have to go to sensitivity training and conflict resolution. As we wrap up we ask the question, what can we apply to our lives and relationships? 

In this episode we discuss how to deal with divisive people in community based on what we learn out of Titus 3:9-119But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless. 10Warn a divisive person once, and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them. 11You may be sure that such people are warped and sinful; they are self-condemned.Proverbs 19:11A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.We discuss which is more offensive, unloving and unkind; to point out to a person something that is offensive to God or staying silent because we don't know how to bring it up?Boundaries are healthy but if we are not careful it can become a tool for creating divisiveness in relationships. In this episode we talk about what is is to be a safe person. We look at what it means to be unsafe and how we are all unsafe at one level or another.What does it look like to remove your mask and become and authentic person with yourself and others? Do you present yourself as perfect like we see on social media?We can walk with others and with God and learn to hear from God for ourselves and others and allow Him to heal and restore those areas in our lives that make us unsafe. 

This episode is part 2 of Hindsight is 20/20. We answer the question of "God why did you allow this?" with better questions based on where we are at and what we have gone through recently. We also answer the question of "how do we live differently after the great disruption that our world has experienced this past year?".John 1:14 in the MSG says "The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, Generous inside and out, true from start to finish."Cam and Stephanie talk about what would it look like for Jesus to move into your neighborhood. Cam makes the uncomfortable statement that you are not a Christian if you are not first being discipled and second are not discipling another person. In this episode we look back at 2020 and how hindsight is 20/20. Stephanie asks the question of what happened to our defense in 2020 with the pandemic we are told is around us? If our defense is faith then did your faith grow or was it weakened this past year?Cam and Stephanie talk about our loss of gathering in large groups and what unbelief has been revealed through this. In this episode of HOLY WIT Stephanie gets on a call with Marci Muncey and they have a conversation about the wildness of God and how that was reflected in the way of life of John the Baptist and Jesus. Stephanie asks what do we do now that our Christian comforts are gone and how do we reclaim our joy in the midst of this disruption?Can a domesticated church be broken and get that wild instinct back?Living wild from our instincts is really about trusting God in all that He is doing in our lives and times.  God's love is wild and reckless for us and wants is to reflect this part of His nature and character. How can we bring the wildness into our current times of quarantine and scattering? 

In this episode of HOLY WIT Cam and Stephanie continue to talk about John the Baptist. We answer the question "what does it look like to live in the desert like John the Baptist in our modern day world?"We talk about how John called for them to repent and what does repent really mean?Stephanie asks the question "why did John say he didn't know Jesus even though scripture tells us they were related?"We need more John the Baptist type individuals to correct the course of the modern day church and Christian organizations. Even to the point that your church or Christian organization needs to have a John the Baptist on staff.We wrap up with the example of how to call others up into their identity instead of calling them out.
