Elizabeth hijacked the podcast today! So of course, she's talking about her favorite thing: FOOD. Specifically, Thanksgiving! We've got the lowdown on where to go to get your turkey with all the trimmings, whether you're cooking it all yourself, need a special bird or some help with the side dishes, or are so afraid of "fowling" the whole thing up that you're letting someone else do the cooking for you!

Gee, I wonder what people in Howard County, Maryland are talking about today... ...this week's election, perhaps? Pat and I share our thoughts on the results of this week's voting. Next, we talk about another upcoming national event - Veterans Day, and a couple of things planned around the county to mark the occasion. Finally, we mention a new venture in Western Howard County that's sure to please coffee-loving dog owners!

We've got quite an eclectic offering for you this week on the HoCoLife podcast! We quite literally donned a hard hat and highlighter-yellow work vest for you people. And voluntarily had our picture taken. For you. We were lucky to get a private tour of the new Metropolitan luxury apartments that are being constructed in Downtown Columbia! All we can say is...WOW. So far us HoCo residents do not have much to complain about in terms of weather this fall. This weekend however, that could be a different story. Um, how are we already in October, people? We don't understand how this has happened. We do, however, understand that there are once again lots of things going on in Howard County, Maryland. Fall brings with it a sort of frenzied energy; the start of the school year, the final crop harvests, the preparation for the holidays. Admit it, you feel an upswing in commitments, appointments, and to-do lists nowadays, don't you? Well why not put some of that energy towards others? Observe the moon! International Observe the Moon Night (InOMN) is an annual event that is dedicated to encouraging people to ‘look up’ and take notice of our nearest neighbor, the Moon. From looking at the Moon with a naked eye to using the most sensitive telescope, every year on the same day, people from around the world hold events and activities that celebrate our Moon. Luckily Howard County has the Robinson Nature Center which takes this annual event pretty serious, and if you aren't into seeing the moon head on down to the Wine Bin and catch a movie!
