As we prepare to close out 2017, we glance back and take stock of all that's happened. We then look to the future, and some of us resolve to better ourselves through New Years resolutions. While we don't discourage self improvement we urge you to make the most important resolution of a lifetime; to become a better follower in Christ, and truly abide in Him as He does in you. “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.” (John 15:1–4)

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." - John 3:16 That all may come to know the magnitude of this love and take to heart and soul the other messages of the advent season is the goal of Highland Hills. Hope, Peace, Joy, Love are all things that everyone is trying to find, but in these messages we find that we've already been given them through Jesus.

Joy to the world, The Lord has come. Philippians 4:4–6 says, "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let all men know your forbearance. The Lord is at hand. Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." Your definition of joy therein lies!

Here it is! the second sermon of our Advent series: Sunday of Peace. Peace is something we all look for from time to time, and something we may seldom find when needed. Or so we think.

Have you ever felt like God is out to get you? Unfortunately, many of us approach God with an unfounded fear of punishment.
