BOOST #10 | Are your big goals demotivating you? Here are some tips to create that motivation again
Welcome to this solo series called BOOST, the purpose is to give you little BOOST to your day, to further provide ways to create a thriving organisation.   Are your goals demotivating you?   Sometimes when we look out into the distanced at the goal we are trying to achieve, they can be overwhelming, and at times feel to big, and this can actually demotivate us. Now I know it is important to set stretching goals, that will accomplish much, but what do we do when they demotivate us. I was struck by this recently whilst running on the trails, and I looked ahead at a climb of about 250m, and suddenly felt exhausted and overwhelm by the sight of it trying to run up to the top. It was a route I had done many times and was part of the plan of the day.   Here are 4 ways to bring back the motivation:   1. Remember the experience and training that got you here right now 2. Breakdown the goal into bite size pieces, don't try and eat the whole elephant in one! 3. Visualise yourself completing the goal, what will you see, hear and feel? 4. Since you created the goal, then you can assure yourself that you will have all the resources within you to complete it   And finally give yourself some slack - It’s ok to slow the pace down, even if the timings slips, as long as you achieve the goal.     If you want support in helping your organisation thrive, do get in contact with me: https://www.julianrobertsconsulting.com

#23 Nicole van Baardwijk | Why high performers need resilience training
Today I am interviewing Nicole van Baardwijk who is Co-founder and CEO of WOOSH5.   Nicole and I explored the importance of why high performers in your organisation need resilience training since It’s easy to think that high performers are incredibly resilient – that’s how they get so much done, right? And yet, it’s not their great coping skills that makes many high performers shine so bright. Nicole shared some ways to help your manage those high performers like: Closely monitor the workload of your high performers to make sure they’re not overburdened. Don’t wait for high performers to tell you they’re doing too much or they’re feeling stressed – they may not even realise it themselves! Keep a close eye on their mental health. Offer support in the form of resilience training, coaching and ongoing education around balance, boundaries and the importance of rest and recovery.   Watch the full interview on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzpgHLIPILA   Connect with Nicole: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/nicole-van-baardwijk-3a3440/ Website: http://www.woosh5.com/ Email: nicole@woosh5.com   If you want support in helping your organisation thrive, do get in contact with me: https://www.julianrobertsconsulting.com/

BOOST #6 | How to gain the right perspective for greater insight
Welcome to this solo series called BOOST, the purpose is to give you little BOOST to your day, to further provide ways to create a thriving organisation.   Perspectives! Perspective is just a point of view. If we realise that it is only that, a point of view, it will really help us in our quest to understand others better. It may appear as the truth, but really it is only true to ourselves. So if we are to become effective and engaging leaders, we need to fully understand others and their point of view, this does not mean we have to agree, but get a fully picture of what might be the truth. So before you jump to conclusions on someone’s action/motive, I would pause and try to gain a few different perspectives/options to gain a fuller understanding. Often I use a NLP technique with my coaching clients called Perceptual Positioning, it is a vey effective way to gain different perspectives on a situation, especially in a conflict one. What advice would you give?   If you want support in helping your organisation thrive, do get in contact with me: https://www.julianrobertsconsulting.com

BOOST #5 | Switching to a thriving mindset
Welcome to this solo series called BOOST, the purpose is to give you little BOOST to your day, to further provide ways to create a thriving organisation.   Firstly, what is a thriving mode?   Thriving is living and thinking abundantly. Thriving is joyful and infectious. Thriving is having plenty of energy and inspiration.   So how to do we switch to a thriving mode? Here are some ways that will help you do that. Commit that you will choose to find the good in every circumstance, no matter the circumstance, there are always possibilities - Remember failure is just feedback on your journey! Fill your life with POSITIVITY not negativity – some ways to do that: Remind yourself of your purpose and Why, and keep focused on it. This remains the same despite your circumstances. Practice gratitude as this elicits a positive state as it releases dopamine and serotonin, two neurotransmitters that are responsible for our feel-good emotions. Celebrate success no matter how small. Do this on a personal level and on an individual level but also do it on a team level. Look for achievements on a daily and weekly basis.   If you want support in helping your organisation thrive, do get in contact with me: https://www.julianrobertsconsulting.com/
