What is Justice?
Bryan and Nick welcome Karen Vander Molen to talk about Justice. Karen is the President of Building Entrepreneurs for Success in Tennessee (BEST). BEST is designed to provide opportunities for personal development and transformation, then teach business and entrepreneurial skills to better equip individuals for successful reentry into the community after incarceration and reduce recidivism. That's a mouthful, but suffice it to say hat Karen is working with people that have found themselves imprisoned for one reason or another so that they can break the cycle and not end up in prison again once they are released. The Most Traditional Episode of the Year
Traditionally, Bryan and Nick talk about philosophy on their podcast. This episode is where they talk about why traditions continue, how they form, and are they important (if so, why?). Toastmasters Live
Bryan and Nick record live in an actual Toastmasters meeting. They thought it was going to be released on April 28th, but they messed that up. It's being released now...It's sort of meta, but it is about the "nuts and bolts of podcasting". Bryan and Nick are more nuts than they are bolts, but they shared their trials and tribulations of beginning a podcast. They are by no means experts, but they have overcome some of the things necessary to consistently publish a podcast (that's something, right?).Drop them a line! helpyourself@brynic.comLinks:Fox's Donut Den

Harry Potter and the Great Resignation... OK, Not Harry Potter
Bryan and Nick convinced some people to come and talk with them once again and they're so thankful for it. Lynn Blake and Michelle Holden gave an educational session at their Toastmasters meeting a few weeks back entitled "New Year, New Career" and it spurred Bryan and Nick to get them to come on and talk about the pandemic and the, so called, "Great Resignation" that is occurring. Of course, they also had the obligatory discussion about food!!You can contact Lynn through her LinkedIn profile at www.linkedin.com/in/lynn-blake and Michelle at her website www.thierforce.net or via email at holden@thierforce.net.Links and other show notes:IkigaiThe 20 Minute Networking MeetingThe Icarus Deception - Seth GodinDrive - Daniel PinkSweet Earth - Curry TigerFocusAidStarbucks  Nitro Cold Brew

Pets and Us
Bryan and Nick have a special guest on this episode... She's the one that cooks Nick all of his delicious food (and has cooked for Bryan too on occasion), Dorey Nolan! She's finally got on the show! It's a good thing that she decided to join us for this episode, because it is a subject that is near and dear to her heart, pets! They talk about pets and why we like to have pets. What do pets do for us and what do we do for them? The therapeutic nature of pets is also discussed. Do you want to tell Bryan and Nick about your 'pet' peeves about the show? New Year's Resolutions (Revisited)
In this episode, Bryan and Nick do a re-do of their previous 3 episodes about New Year's resolutions. They talk a little about food, a little about making resolutions, a little about keeping resolutions, and then a little about (re)making resolutions when you abandon the previous resolutions. Whew...that was a lot. If you want to make resolutions, or more importantly, set goals at any time of the year, this episode is for you. Hopefully there is something helpful in it for you.References and Resources:Red's Organic Cheese Quesadilla BurritoRed's All Natural FoodsStarbucksBryan's Beverage Corner ("BBC")Shamrock Farms Rockin' Protein BuilderLemon PerfectLiquid Death

Maximizing Minimalism
Bryan and Nick have Marshall Couch back on for a third time (the first 3 time guest!) and they have a discussion of minimalism. What is it to be minimalistic? What would drive someone to live this way? What prevents people (Bryan) from getting rid of their possessions? All of this and the ubiquitous food discussion. Bryan creates a new segment called Bryan's Beverage Corner ("BBC") and he's sure that BBC isn't being used by anything else... Also, Bryan, Nick, and Marshall mix up KonMari with Minimalism.  It would't be a good Help Yourself! if we didn't have some mix ups, right? ;-)Drop us a line to tell us what you think... helpyourself@brynic.comReferences and Sources: Marie Kondo - KonMariJohn Acuff - SoundtracksField Roast - Mac 'n ChaoZevia Organic TeaO2 Recovery DrinkBuffalo Wild Wings

Burnout is like Life... It's a (edit: female dog). What is burnout? Isn't it just stress? Not exactly. Bryan and Nick explore their own struggles with burnout, stress, and stress eating desserts... They're not talking about "stress eating".  Bryan & Nick stress eating desserts as a great coping mechanism. Just kidding... sort of. They talk about the difference between burnout and stress, what they consider healthy coping mechanisms for each. Fun fact: they're NOT doctors. Another fun fact: they're NOT psychologists. Laugh & learn with Bryan & Nick! If you want to laugh with them (or at them) send an email to helpyourself@brynic.com... References:Burnout Prevention and Treatment

Positively Fearful
In another episode of the series about fears, Bryan and Nick  talk about the fear of positive things. Fear of success is one of those fears, fear of health, fear of love, etc. How many times have you thought that you wanted something, but just weren't able to bring yourself to do anything to accomplish it? Well, you may have a fear of negative consequences of the achievement of that goal, but you may also be afraid of the positive things that could come out of the achievement of that goal.Send Bryan and Nick some email (good, bad, or ugly) at helpyourself@brynic.com and make their fears come true... :-) Sources and References:The Six Pillars of Self-Esteem by Nathanial BrandenWhat are the six pillars of self-esteem?

Fears of Aging with Ed Zinkiewicz
It's the first time that Bryan and Nick have had a guest back for the second time. Ed Zinkiewicz joins Bryan and Nick to discuss a topic he's passionate about, fears of aging. All of the fears that come along with it like fear of becoming a burden, fear of running out of money, fear of loss of mobility, or fear of loss of independence. Ed has devoted his life to assisting people with the changes that can occur in life after retirement. In fact, Ed and Bryan have partnered in providing webinars that give valuable information that can help to quell some of those fears. You can get in contact with Ed at www.retirementkickstart.com and if you go to www.retirementkickstart.com/aging  you can sign up for the webinar if you'd like. Also, if you would like to share any thoughts with Bryan and Nick, you can email them at helpyourself@brynic.com and they will be delighted to hear from you!

Why Idiots Rule The World (Part 2)
What?!? A two-parter?! Bryan, Nick, and listener-turned-guest Marshall Couch continue the conversation... Apparently, there are plenty of idiots to talk about... I mean, talk around. In this episode they try to take it a little further and see why some people are so confident that they know things, when they so clearly don't. Also, who's actually doing the work in society? Of course, there are principles and phenomena which give some great fodder for discussion. Maybe the real idiots are the friends we made along the way.You know you want to email them... Send something to helpyourself@brynic.com and they will tell you why you're both right. (Nobody's REALLY ever wrong, you know?)
