Deanna’s story: Secondary Infertility Due to Cancer and Why Healthcare Humanized
Deanna Wharwood is the host and producer of Healthcare Humanized. She spent years as a specialist in a fertility labs and has personal experience working with patients and physicians. She also underwent two years of cancer treatment, including 12 surgeries. As a cancer survivor, broadcaster, military veteran, mother, and healthcare insider, she has unique experience and the personality that enables her to draw doctors and patients together in a conversation that increases understanding, respect, and connectedness.  The need for the Healthcare Humanized podcast program: Few things can compare to the pain of being unable to have a child. Some infertility is due to hormone imbalance, others because of physiological conditions, and others may be created because of a lack of awareness or knowledge. "A person could receive a cancer diagnosis, and in the flurry of decisions and tests, the patient may not realize their cancer treatments can also make it impossible for them to have a child," Wharwood said. "Our program will inform, provide stories, resources and help people across the world seeking the latest information at the time they need it the most: just before or just after their initial diagnosis." The podcast series will allow patients and physicians as guests to share their insights recommendations, and experiences on a broad range of topics related to fertility, treatments, tests, and their relationships with patients.  We invite patients and providers to share their stories, experiences, and pose questions so that others can listen, learn, and connect with those undergoing similar experiences.  Donations to keep the show on the air can be made at http://gofundme.com/healthcarehumanize# The first 15 podcasts are unique.  I'm sure when you hear them you will understand why these stories had to be heard. Then, the show will settle down into a standardized format.
