How to Build Muscle Quickly: The Science-Backed Approach
This episode is full of quick tips and straightforward advice to help you build muscle. Join a gym, take it slow, and focus on rest and compound movements to maximize your time at the gym and achieve your muscle-building goals. How To Build Muscle Quickly?1. The importance of going to the gym (or using bodyweight exercises) to increase muscle mass.2. Starting with a three-day-a-week gym schedule for beginners and spreading out muscle groups if you can commit to five or six days a week.3. Muscle building occurs by tearing muscle fibers and letting them regrow to increase muscle mass. Rest is key in the muscle-building process, so it's important to give your muscles 48 hours of rest in between workouts.4. I recommend focusing on compound movements, multi-joint exercises that hit multiple muscle groups, to save time at the gym.5. I also emphasize the importance of learning how muscle building works, and understanding that you're tearing muscle, not building it, when you lift weights at the gym.In conclusion, by going to the gym regularly, focusing on compound movements, and giving your muscles ample rest, you can build muscle in a simple and efficient way.___________Ready to get started on your HEALTH & FITNESS JOURNEY? The Best Exercise Program for Weight Loss #quicktipepisode
As a trainer the most common question I get it is,"What is the best exercise program for weight loss?"The answer is always HIIT trainingHIIT stands for Hight Intensity Interval Training and is done by tracking Heart Rate Zones. It can be either done with cardiovascular exercise or through circuit training.  I prefer the later because circuit training also builds muscle and muscle helps increase our metabolic rate to keep the weight off.So how do I do HIIT training?First you need to calculate your Heart Rate Zones:Step 1: 220 minus Resting Heart RateStep 2: Resting Heart Rate times the percentage of your MaxStep 3: Add back your Resting Heart RateAfter you have your zones, then you can work on going in and out over certain intervals of time.  For example, one minute on, one minute off.Do this at least 3 times a week and watch the magic happen!#bestexercisesforweightlossSupport the show

Should I Take Vitamin D? #quicktipepisode
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that is naturally present in very few foods, added to others, and available as a dietary supplement. It is also produced when ultraviolet rays from the sun hit the skin and trigger vitamin D synthesis. Vitamin D is essential for many body functions and is particularly important for the maintenance of healthy bones and teeth. It is also involved in immune system function and may have other roles in the body. Vitamin D deficiency can lead to a loss of bone density, which can contribute to osteoporosis and fractures (broken bones). Severe vitamin D deficiency can also lead to other diseases. In children, it can cause rickets. Rickets is a rare disease that causes the bones to become soft and bend. Sun exposure is an easy and efficient way for the body to get vitamin D. The skin makes vitamin D when it is exposed to ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation from the sun. However, it is important to be safe when in the sun and to get enough vitamin D without increasing the risk of skin cancer.#vitamind Here are some common questions:How much vitamin D do I need? What are the symptoms of vitamin D deficiency? How can I get more vitamin D?Can I take too much vitamin D?What are the risks of vitamin D deficiency? Can vitamin D help with certain health conditions? What foods contain vitamin D?Can vitamin D be harmful if taken in large amounts? How do I know if I have a vitamin D deficiency? Can vitamin D be taken with other medications?Salad with a side of fries link:spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6mtUfSykWtrePCk4iRzW0dapple podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/salad-with-a-side-of-fries-nutrition-wellness/id1476096152Follow Jenn:Facebook: tag @JennTrepeck and use #saladwithasideoffriespodcastInstagram: tag @JennTrepeck and @saladwithasideoffriespod you can also use #saladwithasideoffriespodcastTwitter: tag @JennTrepeck and use #saladwithasideoffriespodcastLinkedIn: tag @JenniferTrepeck and use #saladwithasideoffriespodcastTikTok: tag @JennTrepeck and use #saladwithasideoffriespodcastYoutube: tag @JennTrepeck Article on Vit D: https://jenntrepeck.medium.com/delightful-d-vitamins-4dab5e098959@JennTrepeck (IG, FB, Twitter, TikTok) @saladwithasideoffriespod (IG only)www.asaladwithasideoffries.comWant something to smile about? What Is Magnesium & How Can It Help? #quicktipepisode
Join Examine.com: https://examine.com/refer/redefineWhat is Magnesium?According to Examine.com, #Magnesium is an essential dietary mineral and the second most prevalent intracellular cation in the body. It also serves as a cofactor for over 600 enzymes. Most notably, magnesium is required for energy production, carbohydrate metabolism, and DNA and protein synthesis.Magnesium is also an antagonist of #calcium in the body and is required for vitamin D synthesis and activation. As such, magnesium deficiency can inhibit the potential benefits of vitamin D supplementation.[1]Magnesium is abundant in green leafy vegetables, nuts, seeds, legumes, and whole grains. Inadequate magnesium intake is common in developed countries, as Western diets tend to contain a very low content of the aforementioned foods and are rich in refined grains and processed foods, which are poor sources of magnesium.Magnesium deficiency increases blood pressure, reduces insulin sensitivity, and causes neural excitation. Consequently, low serum magnesium levels are associated with a wide variety of conditions, including obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, and osteoporosis.https://examine.com/supplements/magnesium/What are some benefits of supplementing Magnesium?-Blood Oxidation for Aerobic Exercise-PMS Symptoms-Increase In Strength-Blood Pressure drop (Minimal)-Migraine Symptoms-Sleep Quality-Can be used as a laxativeDosage & Information:According to examine.com,The standard dosage for magnesium for adults is 250–450 milligrams per day (mg/day). However, the Tolerable Upper Intake Level for elemental magnesium from dietary supplements is 350 mg/day, because this was the highest dose determined not to cause diarrhea in most people. Magnesium should be taken with food.Magnesium L-threonate is not recommended to attenuate a magnesium deficiency because it contains less elemental magnesium per dose than other forms. Magnesium oxide and hydroxide are also suboptimal choices because they are very poorly absorbed and gastrointestinal side effects are more common with them. Magnesium citrate and lactate are generally good choices for supplementation.Looking to get a burning question answered? How To Lower My Cholesterol #quicktipepisode
So you went to the doctor and it turns out you have high cholesterol... Now what?Millions of people a year are diagnosed with high cholesterol but, what does it mean.Your total cholesterol is considered high if it is above 200 and all it means it is the total value of your LDL and HDLs.According to the CDC, #cholesterol  travels through the blood on proteins called “lipoproteins.” Two types of lipoproteins carry cholesterol throughout the body:#LDL  (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol, sometimes called “bad” cholesterol, makes up most of your body’s cholesterol. High levels of LDL cholesterol raise your risk for heart disease and stroke.#HDL  (high-density lipoprotein) cholesterol, sometimes called “good” cholesterol, absorbs cholesterol in the blood and carries it back to the liver. The liver then flushes it from the body. High levels of HDL cholesterol can lower your risk for heart disease and stroke. When your body has too much LDL cholesterol, the LDL cholesterol can build up on the walls of your blood vessels. This buildup is called “plaque,” and it can cause health problems, such as heart disease and stroke.According to multiple studies on PUBMED, dietary cholesterol does not increase your overall cholesterol.Instead, foods high in #saturatedfat such as certain oils and meats can increase your LDL or lousy lipids and can increase your overall cholesterolThe opposite is true for your HDL or happy lipids which can help breakup that plague and make you healthier.Support the show

Should I Have Protein After A Workout? #QuckTipEpisode
In this video, I address if it's important to have protein after a workout?Studies show that it may not be a resounding yes, but there are definitely more benefits of getting enough protein then there is of not getting enough protein. For example, according to an article on Pudmed, it is only important to have protein if you haven't eaten in 5-6 hours either before or after.  If you have, then it won't make things worse but, probably won't make them better either.  However, the biggest issue is not having enough protein in your diet. How much #protein should I have? The RDA for protein right not is 0.8 g/kg/day and this is WAY TOO LOW! According to multiple new studies, having upwards of 2.2 g/kg/day is way better for our bodies especially athletes and elderly. What #kindofprotein should I have?Just read labels and know the difference between a #wheyprotein blend, isolate and concentrate.Articles for reference:High-Protein Diets: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30244609/Nutrient Timing: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3577439/Whey Protein: https://examine.com/supplements/whey-protein/#examine-databaseSupport the show
