In Episode 93: Pennsylvania's D.U.M.B. | Raven Rock, we talk with guest Merle, who has spent four years of his life commuting in and out of a Pennsylvanian deep underground military base known as Raven Rock. Merle was contracted in as a truck driver, and - although he didn't gain access to the secretive fifth level of Raven Rock - he had some very strange experiences in the complex, especially with a human hybrid named "Thom." After detailing his experiences inside Raven Rock, Merle describes to Tony his experience seeing the same exact UFO that Tony also witnessed while driving down the turnpike one night, just outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He started out as a dock worker, while also running a landscaping business, which he still operates to this day. He eventually worked his way from dock worker to driver, and started delivering throughout New Jersey. Zach shares with the guys his thoughts on the industry, the benefits of being a driver, what it's like having a side business, as well as several stories from the road. Early on in his attempt to become a firefighter he was denied due to vision impairment issues, so he picked up a job working in auto repair. Though, it didn't take long for him to get his vision fixed and make his way into the firehouse. From the time Bob was a young boy, he wanted to be a fireman, which became the impetus for his venture into the field. After spending 22 years as a fireman, he stumbled upon a job as a fueler for Pitt Ohio. Now working alongside Brian and Shipper, Bob sees a whole new set of challenges as well as, some interesting situations. Megan had always enjoyed being around cars and grew up tinkering with her cars. However, it didn't take long for her to progress from working on cars to working on trucks. When she got her job as a diesel mechanic she had also been working part time at a restaurant, until she suffered a work related injury. This was all she needed to finally hit the road and drive the vehicles she had previously been fixing. From there it was a progression from driving busses to long haul trucking, with her kids tagging along. In episode 145: Iranian Border Travels; The guys (and Jack) chat with Seth, a US Army Reserves veteran, and truck driver, about his road to chimney sweep! In his early 20's Seth joined the Army Reserves after working in and around a Tyson plant for a couple years. During his time in service, he had several different jobs, landing in deployment as an 88M. This was where he gained his experience as a truck driver, while dealing with all of the difficulty of the many missions he was assigned to. Through his time in deployment Seth learned many valuable lessons, and eventually came back state side, and found himself in a veteran owned chimney sweep company. Matt got his start with PPL, a local electric company, and after work became tight, he took his talents to the union. He is now a foreman and typically doesn't have to get up in the bucket anymore, yet has experienced some truly unbelievable events through his time out in the field. Matt has traveled all over the United States, for his job, as well as traveling to Puerto Rico to help restore electricity after a hurricane. He explains what it's like going to a new place after a natural disaster, and the difficulty of the job through the chaos.
