Oh Yeah? You and Whose Army!!??
David had an attitude of invincibility manifested in his slaying of the giant Goliath. God is the source of that invincibility. Take another look at this famous story and allow it to lift you up and give you confidence to live life in the Peace of Christ! 1 Samuel 17 https://www.goliathsspear.com/spear-size https://weightofstuff.com/11-things-that-weigh-around-200-pounds/ Cut & Paste Personal Invitation to invite your friends to check out “gwot.rocks” podcast:  I invite you to check out the podcast, “gwot.rocks: God, the World, and Other Things!” It is available on podcast players everywhere! Straighten Up and Fly Right
In Luke 21:19 Jesus said: “By your endurance, gain your lives.” The King James is a great translation here: “In your patience possess ye your souls.” Jesus is not saying that we earn our way into Heaven. What we are talking about is taking responsibility for ourselves and the core of our being. It is exciting to know that the God of all creation wants us to be steadfast and solid in this life, where nothing can shake us or shake us loose from our attention and focus on Him, where He receives all glory due him and we are conformed into the image of His Son. This episode will give you help to toughen up and see the hand of God at work in ALL your life circumstances! A great short article on “The Patient Possessing of Your Soul”. Satan’s Tackle Box
. How can we expect to win souls to Christ if the inspection of our lives by the world leaves them wanting to see any distinct difference between their lives and ours? This mini-series "Twelve Devices of the Devil to Draw the Soul to Sin" is adapted from the writing of Thomas Brooks, a Puritan author who lived from 1608-1680, entitled  “Precious Remedies Against Satan's Devices.” I have included a link in the show notes to his complete works found on archive.org, in a public domain publication from 1776 edited by the Reverend Alexander Balloch Grosart, Liverpool.  Thomas Brooks Writings Cut & Paste Personal Invitation to invite your friends to check out “gwot.rocks” podcast:  I invite you to check out the podcast, “gwot.rocks: God, the World, and Other Things!” It is available on podcast players everywhere! For Want of a Nail.
“For Want of a Nail” first arrived in culture in the 13 century, and made famous here in the United States when Benjamin Franklin included a version of it in his June 1758 publication of his annual “Poor Richard’s Almanack”. In simple yet memorable prose it strikes a chord that all are familiar with, that seemingly unimportant acts or omissions can have grave and unforeseen consequences. The Bible is full of examples of things that at first glance may seem small of insignificant, but in the end, we learn just how big the small things are of can become! Working Fatigued
An accident is "an unfortunate incident that happens unexpectedly and unintentionally, typically resulting in damage or injury." When we work tired and fatigued, we are an accident waiting to happen. Working fatigued is not of the Lord and addressing the cause and cure of fatigue will require faith to get to the rest we all need. In Isaiah 40:27-31, we find that the cure for life and work fatigue is the affirmation of the glory of God the Creator in our lives in real time through resting, trusting, and waiting. Together, and in this order, they constitute the biblical way of renewal. The Prophecy of Isaiah, An Introduction & Commentary by J. Alec Motyer, pages 307-308 was used in preparation of this podcast. Motyer's commentary is the best resource to use when studying Isaiah, the God's magnum opus of all Old Testament prophecy! Life’s Sweet Song of Faith
While the American culture focuses on the meaningless and mundane, God offers a calling to a higher realm of existence both in living and especially in dying. The saints listed in the Hebrews 11 Hall of Faith all died in their faith, before the birth of our Lord. Their epitaph is "These all died in faith." Allow these words to encourage your soul today! Learning to Profit in Prosperity!
This is Empowering Encouragement NOW #18! If we would learn to profit by our prosperity, we should not need so much adversity. If we really know Him, it should be natural that His rich blessings that flow to us should provoke better things, and not worse things. Have we lately received some blessing which we little expected? Has the Lord put our feet in a large room? Can we sing of His mercies multiplied? Allow God's blessings to provoke increased righteousness and not rebellion! Special thanks to Mountain Man Mike for his editorial feedback! I deeply appreciate him giving his time to listen and give good feedback! Happy Thoughts
In Romans 8:1-27, we see five ways that the Holy Spirit is at work in the life of a Christian. This will make your heart happy! The five key points were drawn from my key theology professor, Dr. William E. Bell! I am excited to provide a link in the LIFE HELPS section of our website transformthiscity.org! Thank God for the technology that provides access to the living legacy of great Bible scholars like Dr. Bell. You really will be amazed when you go to the website that hosts a vast amount of his work, . You can trust every single lesson you find there by him. He was a conservative theologian who handled the Word of God with great care and accuracy. The Bible reference is hyperlinked to Bible Gateway. It is one of my favorite Bible websites. I think their logo is exceptional! It is as minimalist as you can get, yet so profound in what it represents! (Clarification: at the end the words are "to walk this precarious EARTHLY road.) Get On with It!
As I watched some of the Coachella music festival this past Easter weekend 2022, I looked for meaningful music but only found the final resting place of the Ringling Brothers clowns. When you look at the massive crowd of young people attending the concerts, you can’t help but ask, what does the future of America look like? Against this barren landscape filled with children who are growing up with empty pockets and nothing to give to the future, without a spiritual revolution founded in Jesus Christ, they are destined for control and abuse assigned to meaningless, insignificant tasks…and I ask, WHERE IS THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST in all this? Jesus loves the little children, but do we?  NME Article Romans 7:13 Explained This is Empowering Encouragement Now #17! “Steady as She Goes!”
“Steady on the Compass”, or “steady as she goes” is a nautical term which means to steer a steady course on the compass heading indicated at the time of the order. The helmsman is to repeat the order and call out the compass heading on receiving the order “Steady on…”. Steering to a convenient fixed object in line of sight, in place of adhering to the compass coordinates, happens because there is a sense that it is easier to detect deviation from the ordered course. What does this have to do with the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead? Listen to find out! It's fantastic to read the Apostle Paul's account of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, 1 Corinthians 15. A Hodge-Podge of Encouragement for You!
Episodes 190 & 191 were hard hitting, timely, and the truth. They are two key podcasts that will shape and inform my ministry through Transform This City for the rest of my life. The world is in free-fall, and we hold the keys for recovery and flourishing like the world has never seen! I believe that with all my heart! I talked to a dear friend of mine and partner in the Gospel faith, who is a missionary in a Latin American country. His report is sobering. In light of my conversation with him, I have some words of warning and encouragement that I want to share with you. I pray you will be ultimately encouraged by this episode. The content is a little hodgepodge but all pointing toward the "so what" in light of the two previous hard hitting episodes. Discussions include: report from the field, prayer for my friend, and resources for encouragement. Episode clarifications and corrections (I incorrectly used the term "he" when it should have used "Him" in the podcast for those of you grammar experts. Just checkin' to see if you're paying attention! The pole vault reference is not imply in a single bound, but over the wall in a moment, supernatural empowerment to do evil). Taylor Hawkins has Died...
What a tragedy...one of the greatest rock drummers of all times, Taylor Hawkins, drummer for the rock band, "The Foo Fighters", has died at the age of 50. He leaves behind a wife and three kids. Why does this matter? This is a long podcast for me, at right at 45 minutes long. But, it is a message everyone needs to hear. I pray for Taylor's family tonight and all who will be impacted by his death. This episode is longer than usual for me, at 45 minutes. But, its not a bunch of ramblings...its to the point and necessary. This is a message that needs to be shared with all! https://www.reuters.com/lifestyle/foo-fighters-drummer-hawkins-has-died-2022-03-26/ https://www.youtube.com/c/InstituteofHumanAnatomy What Alcohol Does to Your Body https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/depression/in-depth/antidepressants/art-20046983 In this podcast I share the story about my grandmother's addiction to sedative Valium. As I was recording I drew a blank on the name, but I was correct that the movie "Valley of the Dolls" was about that highly addictive drug. All Along the Watchtower
If you're familiar with the series of children's books and animated videos that followed (which are VERY ENJOYABLE and well done on AMAZON Prime Video), you hear the similarities..."If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" started it all. If you don't know about the series, let the YouTube video read it to you (be sure to get a warm glass of milk and some hot tollhouse cookies!), or lets just say that in the episode your about to hear demonstrates why I named this podcast show what I did. Stay with me as I connect the dots...in the end it will all come full circle and hopefully make sense and advance peace in your life, in the midst of this agitated world! CHOSEN-The Real Difference Maker.
Graham Nash, now 80 years old is truly a modern Renaissance Man. I recently listen to his self recorded autobiography and I was inspired. It got me to reflecting on my own life.
