Businesses and entrepreneurs in Nigeria are witnessing a shocking tide of disruptions in the past 2 weeks. Properties worths millions of Naira have been vandalized and looted in an unprecedented way. It is a sad moment for the victims of this shocking destruction and looting, and all of us affected in a way or the other, including the government. In this turbulent time we need to rally round one another and work together to rise from this loss. You and I have a role to play to support the victims and report the perpetrators for our common good. Luckily, the Lagos and Kwara State Governments have set up Recovery fund for affected businesses in their states. If you are a victim or know anyone who is, kindly share these links with them and help them through it if they are not tech savvy. Imagine bumping into Dangote in a hotel elevator, and he asks you, “What do you do”? Pitching is like a fish bait, no matter how great your hook or offer is, you need an enticing and irresistible bait to draw the big fish to your hook or an investor to buy into your idea or business. A good pitch balances business and emotional needs. Whether you're pitching to a company, an investor, a customer, or a potential partner, you have to hit a person on both emotional and business levels. Without this, your pitch is almost certain to fall flat. A good pitch is succinct. In this new episode, I’m going to be giving you tips that will help you master your pitch and wow investors. And guess what, to even help you more, I am kickstarting a NEW SEGMENT titled: Pitch Your Business in 90sec on the GrantMaster Africa Podcast and will be giving you a chance to Pitch your business in just 90sec. For you to be a part of this send your name and a brief about your business (with your contact) to firstname.lastname@example.org

GMA PODCAST - Ep2
In the last episode, I talked about how I struggled to get funding for my café business in Kano and how frustrating it was and how it almost ruined my relationship with a few persons. You see, it’s practically hard to bootstrap a business from personal savings and scale to become a giant enterprise. Even Aliko Dangote had to borrow N500, 000 (about $3000 in today’s value) from his uncle to import and sell agricultural commodities and when starting out before he built a business worth over US$8.9 billion. If you are a small business owner or you have that big, billion-dollar idea for a start-up or company roaring in your head, it will most likely be difficult and you can’t always rely on family and friends, except if you are from a rich family like Dangote. While they can help, and some actually do, often they don’t have the capacity to give you the kind of money you need to scale your business. The Good News is that there are numerous funding opportunities for SMEs and entrepreneurs. But the BIG question is, “Is Your Business Viable for a Grant?” and “How Do You Position Your Business To Win Grants” This evening on the GrantMaster Africa PODCAST show. Rilwan Akeyewale (CEO TechPlan Africa) will be taking us through the ‘5 Strategies to make Your Business viable for Grants. Rilwan Akeyewale is a business strategist and financial analyst. With an experience working with KPMG, he's a World Economic Forum's Agenda contributor, a World Youth Forum delegate, a mentor at the African Entrepreneurship Awards, an African Presidential Leadership Program alumnus, and a Tony Elumelu Foundation's alumnus. He has worked with over 100 small businesses and startups in the past one year, helping them raise over $5million.
