#6 Goodbye iOS, Hello Android & Google Pixel 2 XL
In episode #6 I say goodbye to iOS. Really, the decision came down to two things. The first was a matter of principle. Basically, I don’t feel comfortable supporting the company that is pushing the industry in ways I don’t agree with, which I touch on in the episode. The second, arguably more important reason, was because, well, Apple kind of forced me to leave. I’ll give you a hint: iOS 11. If you don’t get it with that simple reference, listen in and I’ll elaborate. I also touch on my switch back to Android and my initial impressions of the Google Pixel 2 XL. Kick back, relax, and enjoy the show. If you enjoy this podcast, one way to support the show is by purchasing some of my fiction. #5: Google Pixel 2 Day, State of VR & AR
Today’s episode marks a return of the excitement for the smartphone cycle. I was a little worried at first, but this year at least, I feel like the best device was saved for last. My excitement about the Pixel and Pixel XL phones really has nothing to do with the hardware, awesome as it is. I mean, let’s face it, we are firmly at the point of returns so diminished you’d be hard pressed to find a major difference from one year to the next with any manufacturer. What’s got me so jazzed up this year is the (seemingly) smart implementation of the software that runs it. At least when it comes to 2018, the software is what will differentiate the good devices from the great ones. I also go into my thoughts, or worries really, about the current state of VR. I also sprinkle in a little AR talk, more specifically in comparison to VR both currently and in the future. I’ve been dreaming of a Star Trek holodeck experience in real life. Needless to say, where I was once felt like that was a realistic shot, I’m not so sure now. And getting my hopes teased up, only to have that bubble burst, would be far worse than never having had the hope in the first place. All this and more in this episode…well, okay, maybe not more. All this, passionately expounded upon, in this episode of the show. If you enjoy this podcast, one way to support the show is by purchasing some of my fiction. #4 Returning To That Thing You Love
Last week we had a bit of a heart to heart. Well, as close to a heart to heart as one can have when speaking to oneself. Despair not, for I am not all doom and gloom and purple prose. This episode I will go into when you’ll know it’s time to go back to that love. You may also find that you’ve grown beyond that thing that was once the object of your passions–and that’s okay too. I do have a quick word of caution: I’d strongly recommend checking out episode 3 first. This episode picks right up where that one left off and I would hate for anyone to get lost.   If you enjoy this podcast, one way to support the show is by purchasing my fiction. 03: Letting Go of Your Love
This episode of the G Musings Podcast is for the creatives out there. Really, it’s for anyone that has pursued something with every bit of their effort, perhaps even for many years. That was me with my writing. A major lesson I’ve learned this past year is the importance of letting your love go. I had been working on my craft every day for years, but sometime last year I realized I had hit a plateau. The exponential growth and development that I had seen had slowed almost to a halt. That’s when frustration set in. Believe it or not, that frustration might have been the best thing that’s happened to me. It gave me the opportunity to focus on other things. I found a new passion in photography. I even rediscovered some old hobbies like drawing and coding. It was fun. Now I know what your thinking, and you’ll just have to hear me out this episode in order to understand. Kick back, grab a snack, and listen as I take you through my journey.   Check out my latest novelette The Testimony of a Soldier out now on Kindle contact: Twitter @G_Musings | Email: contact@gmusings.com The awesome intro and outro credit go to the super talented Otis McDonald. 02: iPhone X Sticker Shock
I gave it a day to let the news from the Apple keynote settle in. I posted this article on the G Musings site just hours ahead of the event. It was based on months of rumors heading into the big day. After all of the announcements, I had some pretty strong feelings about the Fall 2017 Apple lineup, but I waited to share my thoughts until I could let the information really soak in before I shared my thoughts. Now that my brain is thoroughly saturated, let’s dive in!   Share your thoughts and opinions about the episode or the show in general. I welcome all feedback. Welcome aboard; this is going to be a fun ride! In this first episode I share my thoughts on the skyrocketing costs of smartphones. The back half of the show goes into my thoughts on tv series vs movies for viewing comic book adaptations. All feedback is welcome. Twitter might be the best place for now: @G_Musings
