160 - The King of Karate Cities
Its all come down to this! We’ve gone through all 8 movies in this  season and are ready to crown the greatest karate city. There are many  to choose from, including the entire country of France. We have a lot of  fun discussing some of our favorite moments and debating the best of  these four categories… – Best sidekick – Best villain – Biggest badass – Greatest karate city We would love to hear from you! Please, email us with your choices  from the movies in this season. We can’t just give it all to Toronto,  tell us your best karate city. This is also the final episode before we go on extended break. We  will be back next year with season 3 of the movies podcast with an whole  new theme. Until then, stay subscribed to this feed, we have a couple  surprises lined up during our break. 160 - Miami Connection
This is a once-in-a-lifetime movie. Seriously. This is as good as a  karate movie gets. How do we know? Its got all the tropes. Full songs  that are oddly specific to the scene? Check. Sensei beating the shit out  of their own students? Check. Always doing the right thing no matter  what? Just listen to the lyrics… We absolutely adore this movie and always, ALWAYS have a ton of fun  when watching and now we finally get to profess our love of Miami  Connection, Dragon Sound, and Jim’s Dad. This is our final movie of this  season and we IMPLORE you to listen to our breakdown, then run out and  buy a copy of Miami Connection for your own library so you can watch  again and again. Movie info Premiered: Aug. 26, 1988 (Dec. 11, 2012) Directed by: Richard Park and Y.K. Kim Written by: Richard Park and Y.K. Kim Produced by: Y.K. Kim This movie was Y.K. Kim’s vision and brainchild, with Richard Park (a  Korean film director) facilitating the entire thing.  So many people want to say this is a terrible movie and they use it  to just rip it apart and capitalize on the “bad movie” trend. These  people don’t care about these movies the way we do. They only want to  tear down and use other people’s misfortunes to build themselves up.  This goes against everything this movie stands for. Friendship. Honesty.  Loyalty. These are the things that matter in life and Kim knew that. I  will never tear this movie down, it is fantastic and tells an amazing  story about friendship and family. This is the only movie in this season  that has an actual heart, and not dollar signs in their eyes. 158 - Lone Wolf McQuade
We are going to warn you up front we are not a fan of this movie.  Along these lines, we say some pretty harsh things about the Chuckster  and Turtle Carradine, I mean David Carradine. So if you’re gonna get  your feelings hurt by us making fun of this movie, we’ll see you next  week for Miami Connection. Now with that out of the way, this is a stinker and we have so much  fun Dominic stopped breathing for 3 consecutive minutes after Melissa  called Kung Fu man a Diplodocus. This movie is so ridiculous its  probably the funniest episode of the Go With The Heat podcast ever. You  may not agree with our assessment of this movie, there is one thing we  can all agree on… This is 100% a karate movie. Seriously, don’t miss this episode of the podcast. It is laugh out  loud hilarious. But go ahead and skip Lone Wolf McQuade. This podcast is  a better version. Movie info Premiered: April 15, 1983 Directed: Steve Carver Did  a lot of work with Corman. Edited a bunch of trailers and commercials,  directed a handful. Also directed An Eye For An Eye with the Chuckster. Written: H. Kaye Dyal , B.J. Nelson Another shruggie. Cast Chuck Norris David Carradine Barbara Carrera Leon Isaac Kennedy L. Q. 157 - Angel Town
After an unexpected vacation, we’re back with a movie we have been  chomping at the bit to watch. To be honest, it was everything we hoped  it would be. It was like watching an action movie dubbed by Tommy Wiseau  and we have zero complaints. We have a lot to love about Angel Town, including Jacque absolutely  destroying fools. Its also the first movie where the main character is  100% optional. We only have one question… What happened in Hong Kong? Movie info Premiered: Feb. 23, 1990 Directed: Eric Karson We have a type and we can’t fight it. We find these movies not knowing  that they’re connected! He also directed The Octogon (ninjas…) and Black  Eagle (JCVD). He also produced Lionheart and acted in it. Written: S. 156 - Classic Rerun: Blood and Roses
Hey pals, we had a very busy two weeks. Between our normal schedule,  John on vacation, moving and then having some dental work, the next  thing we knew we were out of time. So instead, we sat down and put our  heads together to find a classic episode of the podcast. Something from  the archives that is one of our favorites. I guess you can say we had pasta on the brain. In this classic rerun  of the show we go all the way back to episode number 99, originally  released in June of 2018. We love this episode of Miami Vice and has  brought back some fun memories. Remember kids, if he owns a pasta factory your possibilities are endless! Episode Information Miami Vice – Season 04 Ep. 19 – Blood and Roses Premiered April 1, 1988 Writer: Dick Wolf Director: George Mendeluk (one more coming) Guest Stars Stanley Tucci as Frank Mosca Michael Wincott as Wilson Cook Meg Foster as Alice Carson Frank Stallone as Billy Hosts Dominic  Twitter: @domcorriveau YouTube: Dominic Corriveau Personal Podcast: DC Talks Blog: ObscuredNarration.com John Twitter: @corriveau_john Melissa Twitter: @mrsmelcorriveau Feedback Got some feedback? 155 - You Should Watch It: Never Too Young To Die
In just about every episode of GWTH this season we’ve mentioned one  movie. An amazing movie with John Stamos as a high schooler who suddenly  learns gymkata. With John being on vacation, Melissa and Dom see this  opportunity to finally discuss Never Too Young To Die. A delightfully  ridiculous movie that you should definitely watch. With a great cast, an over-the-top story and oddly specific music,  you absolutely need to check this episode out and then immediately go  watch this movie. This is a perfect summer movie. So get out the White  Claws and turn up your headphones. Movie info Premiered:  June 13, 1986 Directed by:  Gil Bettman (no wiki) Written by: Steven Paul He  also Produced this movie. Produced and continues to produce a  lot of  movies. Everything from Baby Geniuses, Bratz: The Movie to Rambo Last  Blood and Ghost Rider. 154 - The Last Dragon
Hands down this is one of our favorite karate movies of all-time.  Full stop. In this episode we literally swoon over this entire movie,  beginning to end, and in our final thoughts our only complaint is that  we can’t get more. Not only is it a great movie, but being produced by  Motown means it has the most amazing movie soundtrack ever. Dominic explains his love of both Sho’nuff and Richie. Melissa has a  few Laura moments over Taimak. John gives us all the details on Vanity.  This is a great episode for a fantastic movie. Movie info Premiered: March 22, 1985 Directed by: Michael Schultz Very  accomplished before this movie. TONS of TV work. Directed Sgt. Peppers  Lonely Heart Club Band, a movie that includes music from the Beatles  album and Abbey Road set in a music comedy starring The Bee Gees.  Oh  and of course the 1976 classic Car Wash. Written by: Louis Venosta (no wiki) Produced by: Rupert Hitzig and Berry Gordy We  gotta talk about Barry Gordy. He is a legend. In fact, that is an  understatement. There are few people as important as Berry Gordy. He  discovered The Miracles. Then, with some coaching from The Miracles lead  singer Smoky Robinson, he founded Motown Records. He would then go on  to produce, write or compose music for The Temptations, The Supremes,  Marvin Gaye, The Commodores, Stevie Wonder, The Jackson 5, and Gladys  Knight & The Pips. Carry III as Sho’nuff / The Shogun of Harlem Chris Murney as Eddie Arkadian Leo O’Brien as Richie Green Faith Prince as Angela Viracco Feedback Got some feedback? Contact Us. 153 - You Should Watch It: C.H.U.D.
We go so much great feedback from our last “You Should Watch It”, we  decided to make it a regular addition to the podcast. We love it because  it allows us to venture deep into the archives and find classics that  are just outside of our action wheelhouse. This episode is exactly one of those situations. We don’t normally  cover scifi and we’ve NEVER done a horror movie. So, why not both?  Melissa and Dominic are huge horror fans (anyone want our Shudder  login?) and were right at home with a classic horror with amazing  practical effects. John is the scifi geek and loves the flamethrower  cops in special suits running around the sewers. Oh yeah, and its got a fantastic cast! We love C.H.U.D. as much as we love Toxie and we think you’ll love it too. Movie info Premiered: August 31, 1984 Directed by: Douglas Cheek Written by: Parnell Hall & Shepard Abbott This basically boils down to it was made by a bunch of nobodies who  somehow cobbled together an AMAZING cast and delivered a fantastic  monster movie. Starring John Heard as George Cooper Daniel Stern as A.J. “The Reverend” Shepherd Christopher Curry as Captain Bosch Kim Greist as Lauren Daniels J.C. Quinn as Murphy Michael O’Hare as Fuller Peter Michael Goetz as Gramps Sam McMurray as Officer Crespi Frankie R. Faison as Sgt. 152 - Deadly Bet
Listen, I’m going to be totally honest with you. This movie is a  stinker. Jeff Wincott is not the next star, no matter what martial arts  magazine says it. BUT… We have a TON of fun with this movie! Its so bad its good. And, to  continue the honesty, this podcast episode is the best way to consume  Deadly Bet. This is the best version. Also, its basically out of print  so this might be the ONLY way to find it.Except on YouTube you amazing  bastards! We love to hate this movie and it has all the hallmarks of a true  “trash movie”. You’ll laugh, you’ll cheer, you’ll never watch another  Wincott movie. But, definitely listen to this podcast. Movie info Premiered: Oct. 31, 1992 Directed by: Richard Munchkin This dude is all  about gambling. He is a professional Blackjack player, appeared on a  blackjack game show, wrote a book about gambling, hosts a radio show  about gambling, worked in a casino. Oh, also wrote or directed over 20  movies including Ring of Fire one and two starring Don The Dragon  Wilson. Written by: Joseph Mehri, Robert Tiffe Joseph  founded PM Entertainment, produced a ton of movies then left the  business in 2003. His wiki suggests he also owned pizzerias in Vegas.  Robert made a bunch of direct-to-video stuff. This movie is like a  combination of all people hanging out in the parking lot at Universal  Studios before their waiter gig at the restaurant that makes them sing. 151 - You Should Watch It: Red Surf
We said the new format would give us new opportunities and we’re  taking advantage of that this episode! When John mentioned that there  was an action movie with a young George Clooney on jet skis, we knew  there was no way we wouldn’t watch it. This episode is all about the…  Honestly mediocre movie Red Surf. This isn’t a full rundown of the movie, but just our thoughts on why  you should give it a shot. Short and to the point and a new format we’re  testing out. We’d love to hear your feedback on this format and if we  should do more of them. We had so much fun watching this movie and the fact that Gene Simmons  makes a few appearances means this movie is totally worth your time. Feedback Got some feedback? Contact Us. 150 - Bloodsport
There was absolutely no way we were going to cover karate movies and  not have a JCVD feature. If you haven’t noticed, we are HUUUUGE JCVD  fans and in reality we could probably make an entire season just about  his movies. The hardest part was only choosing one for this season  (okay, I know we already had him in a movie, but that didn’t count). Melissa and Dom have just finished moving across the country, but  that didn’t stop us from sitting down to record this one. Dom and John  have to have most of the movie re-explained my Melissa, who is the  supreme JCVD expert. Seriously, she worships the man (and his goofy  YouTube videos). We have so much fun with Bloodsport, allowing us to go  deeper and learn more about one of our favorite movies of all time. This doesn’t even include our stan-ing for the ultimate soundtrack performer Stan Bush. Movie info Premiered: Feb. 26, 1988 Directed by: Newt Arnold Assistant  director for The Godfather Part II & 12 Angry Men (remake). His  Wikipedia says he’s worked in showbiz for 45 years and have almost  nothing listed… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Written by: Sheldon Lettich Screenwriter  for Rambo III, Lionheart, Double Impact, Legionnaire. 149 - John Explains: Mythica
We told you when we switched from Miami Vice over to the greatest  action movies it also meant we could take the podcast in new directions  not available previously. Well, here’s one of those experiments. John  found some gold and he really wants to talk about it! While sheltering, John decided to dip his toes into the Mythica  universe and soon found himself binging the entire series… In a single  day. This special episode of the Go With The Heat podcast is dedicated  to John’s binge and trying to explain himself to Dom and Melissa. A  short, but fun episode of the podcast and into new territory. We’d love to hear from you on this format. Keep it? Like it? Have  other suggestions for movies? We want to hear from you! Email us or get  us on Twitter or Facebook. 148 - Bloodfist
This movie came out of left field. None of us had ever seen it  before, but we are WELL ACQUAINTED with Don “The Dragon” Wilson. So,  somehow all EIGHT of these movies fell just outside our radar. You know  what? We were missing an amazing movie! First things first, this movie has the **most controversial** mango  in the history of mangoes. What kind of magician can peel a mango like  that? And do it while running? Plus its poisoned! Between mangoes and  the least flexible woman to dance on a rooftop, no matter what Jake  says, we at least get a lot of montages of running up a volcano. We have a lot of fun with this movie and it has us intrigued to watch the second. Three through 8? Maybe not. Movie Info Premiered: Sept. 22, 1989 Directed by: Terence H. 147 - No Retreat, No Surrender
After all the planning and hype, we’re finally here to our first  movie of season 2 of the reformatted podcast. There was absolutely no  way we weren’t gonna start with Seattle karate, which as you know is the  best karate. Become a Patron! No Retreat, No Surrender is one of our favorite movies of ALL TIME.  It follows a familiar format with a main character ready to prove to the  world he in fact does kick ass and a villain that makes nearly no  sense. This movie is full of so many great moments, from JCVD’s rosy  cheeks to the greatest training montage ever (okay, so only second to  the beach montage scene in Rocky III). Its fun, its positive, its  totally confusing why he’s training so hard! We obviously have a lot of fun with this movie, while also gushing  over the ghost of Bruce Lee making an appearance. 144 - Closing Out Season One
So its come to this… A GWTH clip show. Have no fear! We’ve made a few small changes to the show, but there’s  nothing to be concerned about. We’ve decided to take on a season format  for the show. We decided to that so we can set themes for each season.  This season was all about Joel Silver and how action movies are all  connected in some way. Our next season will begin on March 22, 2020 and our theme will be  announced at the start of the next season. Here are some ideas we’ve had though: Video games made into movies Action movies turned into kids cartoon shows (that were totally inappropriate) ALL BILLY BLANKS, ALL THE TIME We have so many ideas. The plan is to announce the new theme on March  22, along with the full list of movies we’ll be discussing in that  season. We love you all so much. 143 - Ricochet
But, is it still a classic? Dominic has lots of questions about the  books. Like, why the books? John is suspicious of the mustache.  Melissa… Well, lets just say she has some STRONG words for this movie at  the end.e in the top 5 and that doesn’t include his drama work. So,  when we were thinking of a Denzel action movie, we had to go back to  this 1991 classic. But, is it still a classic? Dominic has lots of questions about the  books. Like, why the books? John is suspicious of the moustache.  Melissa… Well, lets just say she has some STRONG words for this movie at  the end. This is an all around good time. 142 - Die Hard 2: Die Harder
There isn’t a more perfect Christmas movie. We will die on this hill.  Not only is Die Hard a Christmas movie, but Die Hard 2 is the HARDER  Christmas movie. There’s no way we could skip doing this movie since Die  Hard 1 & 2 are probably the greatest action movies ever made. Since this is one of our favorite movies we have a ton of fun gushing  over the absolute perfection… While also giving it the typical GWTH  treatment. We can all agree on a few things: The best part about this movie is that its so ridiculous. So over the top, so amazingly 90’s. Die Hard 1 & 2, Lethal Weapon 1 are absolutely perfect. We can all agree Holly is the worst. Melissa questions its hardness. John wants to know what Dulles City  Airport Police Department also has going on in its precinct (SVU?  Serious Crimes Division?). Meanwhile Dom wants the ultimate Christmas  crossover – John McClane versus Kevin McCalister in a winner takes all  showdown. Got some feedback? Contact Us.
