The future of gas mobility with Robin Hörrmann
#013- Here we go! This week, I'm very excited about the gmobility podcast. I have a very special guest who I'm very happy to introduce on the podcast for the first time and think you will really like our discussion. His name is Robin Hörrmann, and he's the communications manager over at NGVA in Europe, which is the European Association for gas in transport. Well, Robin and I will talk about the perception of gas in transport in Europe and the reason why both of us actually work very hard to communicate more clearly and transparently about this topic. We'll cover what are some of the challenges, so to say, we need to go through on a daily basis to be able to explain in a transparent and clear way why sustainable transport is possible already today and why it doesn't come down to promoting electromobility only. In fact, what Robin will share with us is that renewable gas is already making a big difference in reducing emissions effectively in Europe. Remember that all the notes and things from today's episode, they're available in the show notes. And the only link you need to remember is gmobility.eu/episode13.  Have you subscribed yet? We'd love it if you do so you can stay up-to-date with gmobility :)  If you'd like to get the links and the show notes for this episode, head to: https://gmobility.eu/episode13

The Large Gas Family - Part 2
#012 - Here it is! Our second episode on the topic of the large gas family! This week we are continuing right where we've left off the last time with the topic of hydrogen. The use of hydrogen in the transport system is very often seen as the long term solution, overcoming the problem of storing energy on-board and having a vehicle with no emissions at the exhaust, meaning that it would be an electric vehicle. But why are we seeing only a few hundreds of hydrogen vehicles on our roads? To answer this question, let’s see what we have to do to have a hydrogen car…and also to drive it!Tune in to find out more! Here's the full article to this episode: https://gmobility.eu/the-large-gas-family-part1/ Have you subscribed yet? The Large Gas Family - Part 1
#011 - In this episode of the gmobility podcast we enter the topic of the large gas family.Gas, methane, autogas, propane, natural gas, biogas, butane, biomethane… are they different? This week we are continuing the podcast  with the topic of ‘what exactly is gas’. We have already discussed some fundamental topics such as biomethane, the environment, air quality, emissions and heavy duty transport. But it is essential to talk about the gas family since apart from methane (#gmobility), there are other gases used in transport too.So, you might have heard the terms ‘gas, methane, autogas, propane, natural gas, butane…’ and probably some others too. Probably you are wondering – if all these are gases, aren’t they all the same?Or are they somewhat (or completely) different?Find out in this episode and share with someone else. Here's the full article that I mention in the episode: https://gmobility.eu/the-large-gas-family-part1/ Have you subscribed yet? Decarbonising transport with low-emission and renewable LNG - Part 2
#010 - In this episode of the gmobility podcast we can go deeper into the topic of LNG and spend some time looking at the other side of the coin, so to say. In other words – the role of the gas infrastructure and the future of transport that LNG will enable. When it comes to the role of infrastructure, it is necessary to keep in mind that it’s a complex system which Europeans have spent decades developing. Thanks to all this effort, the addition of sustainable fuel, such as LNG is possible, and we see significant development across the EU. Today, this infrastructure serves not only road transport and heavy-duty trucks or buses but also maritime and railway transportation. It offers immediate climate benefits which support our European goals. Additionally, integrating renewable biomethane into the mix, we can achieve unparalleled CO2 emissions reduction, making LNG an essential fuel and technology for today and the future. Here's the full article that I mention in the episode: https://gmobility.eu/lng-the-sustainable-fuel-of-the-future-available-today-part-2/Have you subscribed yet? Decarbonising transport with low-emission and renewable LNG - Part 1
#009 - In this episode of the gmobility podcast we are continuing with a brand new topic – LNG. It is something that I’ve mentioned here and there, but for the first time, we shall take a more in-depth look into it. The goal, as usual, is to try and understand more about it. A big question that Europe is facing right now is what’s the fuel that would allow our heavy-duty transport to operate affordably, long-term and with low-emissions?So, I will try to answer this seemingly complicated question in this podcast. Here's the full article that I mention in the episode: https://gmobility.eu/decarbonising-with-lng/Have you subscribed yet? The air that we breathe - Part 2
#008 - In this episode of the gmobility podcast we continue the topic of air quality and local pollutants. This time talking about the different types associated with transport. In this episode, you will learn the difference between the likes of NOx, PM, PN and other pollutants that perhaps you’ve heard of but don’t really know what they are and how they affect you daily. We won't go into great scientific detail but will aim to provide a rather simplified overview of what can be considered a complicated or technical topic by many. In this episode, we will present to you the different kinds of pollutants associated with the natural gas engine. Here's the full article that I mention in the episode: https://gmobility.eu/air-quality-and-local-pollutants-part-2/Have you subscribed yet? The air that we breathe - Part 1
#007 - In this episode, we talk about air quality - the health aspect, emission standards and the technology. This will be part one of two because it's a really big topic to discuss in one go. So, in the next episode, we will talk about the different pollutants.Despite the progress in emission standards, air pollution is still an issue, especially in urban areas. The world gets hotter and more populated, and multiple sources of pollution contribute to the quality of the air we breathe. Is there anything that could be done to prevent this air pollution that kills 7 million people every year globally? Here’s what you’re going to learn in this episode:Why air pollution damaging our healthThe emission standards that we currently rely onThe technologies, which exist to limit bad pollutantsHopefully, by the end of this episode, you will be able to understand that the problem affects so many of us and it’s not just a matter of improving technologies or setting emission standards. Here's the full article that I mention in the episode:https://gmobility.eu/air-quality-and-local-pollutants-part-1/Have you subscribed yet? Should I drive on CNG?
#006 - Today, we want to jump into a topic which will interest a lot of you listening to the podcast. We will discuss if you should drive on CNG.Probably many of you are currently looking for a new car and are uncertain whether buying a diesel or even petrol car is a smart decision, now that a lot of cities are banning polluting cars. This is certainly something that you might want to really consider and look into the local regulations that are in place in the city where you currently live. What is happening for some time now, is that many cities and municipalities pledge only certain types of vehicles. If you have owned a car so far, you’d know which standard it has and whether it complies with the local regulations. It is possible, however, that we will be seeing cities banning petrol and or diesel cars altogether from their streets.Luckily, there are CNG cars, running on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), which are cleaner and better for the environment. In this respect, cities allow them in their Low-Emission Zones and some even offer public transportation on CNG. In this episode of the gmobility podcast we will talk about the practical side of driving on CNG. Let's look together at what it is to have a CNG car, to use a public transport running on CNG and LNG, but also importantly, what benefits there are for heavy-duty transport on gmobility. As always, if you have any questions or comments, we would love to hear from you! And if you've enjoyed the podcast, please consider leaving a review on iTunes or any of the other platforms because that helps it reach to more people. If you'd like to get the links and the shownotes for this episode, head to:https://gmobility.eu/episode6
