More Than a Bike Ride with Sofia Gibson (Episode 97)
Sofia Gibson never thought she'd be a cyclist. After losing her Dad in 2017 from a drunk driving accident while he was out cycling, Sofia didn't think she could ever live up to his legacy. Then, last year after just purchasing her first bike, a commuter bike that is, she found herself telling people that she wanted to race. Kathryn and Kristi ask Sofia about this journey to gravel, and what it means to her now. As the outreach coordinator of Gravel Worlds, Sofia gives us an insider's perspective on the mission of this event, and the goal of equality. As an attempt to make gravel cycling more inclusive, Gravel Worlds has started an initiative to get 1000 women to participate. Sofia tells Kathryn and Kristi about this initiative and what it feels like to be one of a thousand. GRL PWR with Alison Tetrick (Episode 94)
Can you ever really get enough GRL PWR? In true Girls Gone Gravel style, this week we talk to another badass female leader, Alison Tetrick. Alison is one of the most elite female cyclists in the world. After a series of unfortunate crashes, Alison turned to gravel cycling, and was crowned the "Queen of Gravel". Alison talks to Kathryn and Kristi about her journey to gravel, and the way she understands female sports. Instead of a focus on herself winning, Alison emphasizes the joy and pride it brings her to watch other women win. A win for them is a win for her. **REBROADCAST** Love At First Ride with Mari Holden (Episode 65)
This week on the podcast Kathryn & Kristi chat with former professional cyclist Mari Holden. Mari confesses she has been in love with the sport of cycling since getting her first bike as a kid. This love took her all the way to the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, where she won a silver medal in the time trial. Mari spent her professional cycling career racing on the road across Europe and North America in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. She talks about the changes she has seen in the cycling industry since then, and reiterates why it is important that we keep advocating for more media coverage of women’s racing to continue to bring exposure and attention to women’s cycling.  After retiring from her own athletic career, Mari worked as the director for team Twenty20, and now serves as the Community Director for USA Cycling. She is passionate about diversifying the sport and getting more people, especially young women, on bikes.  Mari took part in her first gravel race this year at the Last Best Ride. She tells us what she loves most about gravel, and how embracing a new discipline of cycling has helped keep her excited about the sport.  Follow Mari on Instagram @msmariholden and learn more about the USAC Let’s Ride initiative at https://usacycling.org/article/learn-about-lets-ride (https://usacycling.org/article/learn-about-lets-ride) https://gearjunkie.com/biking/mari-holden-cycling-pinarello-film (https://gearjunkie.com/biking/mari-holden-cycling-pinarello-film ) *Support the Girls Gone Gravel Podcast* InsideTracker: get 20% off at http://insidetracker.com/feisty (insidetracker.com/feisty) Support all https://livefeisty.com/partners/ (Live Feisty Partners) This podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Podsights - https://podsights.com/privacy Chartable - https://chartable.com/privacy

Gravel Triathlon Series with Vic Brumfield (Episode 85)
In January of 2022 USA Triathlon announced the first Gravel Triathlon Series, an innovative new eight-race series that offers endurance sports enthusiasts a new way to experience swim, bike, run multisport racing at gravel events in each region of the United States.   Gravel riding is an increasingly popular form of cycling that combines elements of road- and mountain biking. Unlike traditional triathlons where participants race their bikes on paved roads or highways, and unlike off-road triathlons where racers ride mountain bikes on technical, single-track mountain bike trails, gravel triathlons take place on unpaved, dirt roads such as Forest Service roads or canal paths that are non-technical. Due to the varied terrain, riders can use a bike designed specifically for gravel riding, but mountain bikes and road bikes are often used for gravel riding, too.   As gravel triathlon and gravel duathlon (run-bike-run) are new disciplines under the multisport umbrella, USA Triathlon has created a new set of rules specifically for gravel events. These rules and recommendations were established through a working group of race directors and other community stakeholders led by Mark Turner, USA Triathlon Commissioner of Officials. The rules can be found online at USATriathlon.org.   The inaugural Gravel Triathlon Series spans the multisport season from May through October and features events across the U.S., with races in New Jersey, Michigan, Texas, Colorado, Idaho, and California.   May 15, 2022 – Jersey Gravel Triathlon – Hewitt, NJ June 18, 2022 – The Theoi – Donnelly, ID July 23, 2022 – Ugly Dog Gravel Tri – Chelsea, MI July 31, 2022 – Stagecoach Gravel Triathlon – Steamboat Springs, CO September 10, 2022 – The Gravel X Triathlon – Folsom, CA September 25, 2022 – The Dirty Mitten – Middleville, MI September 25, 2022 – XTERRA Laguna Beach – Laguna Beach, CA October 23, 2022 – Brick House Triathlon - Navasota, TX   USA Triathlon will also sanction the 2022 Gravel and Off-Road Triathlon and Off-Road Duathlon National Championships on June 3rd and 4th in Fayetteville, Arkansas, a part of the Ozark Valley Triathlon. Both will be Team USA world qualifiers, with the triathlon events consisting of approximately 1.5K swim, 30K bike, and 10K run and the Off-Road Duathlon National Championship course made up of a  5K run, 30K bike, and 10K run.             Sources -   GRAVEL TRI LANDING PAGE (Rules, schedule, overview) - https://www.teamusa.org/USA-Triathlon/Events/Gravel-Triathlon-Series (https://www.teamusa.org/USA-Triathlon/Events/Gravel-Triathlon-Series)   National Championships/Ozark Valley Event Page - https://www.trisignup.com/Race/AR/Fayetteville/OzarkValleyTriathlonpresentedbyDegree (https://www.trisignup.com/Race/AR/Fayetteville/OzarkValleyTriathlonpresentedbyDegree) **Support the Girls Gone Gravel Podcast** InsideTracker: get 20% off at https://info.insidetracker.com/feisty (insidetracker.com/feisty)  Zealios: get 20% off with code GIRLSGONEGRAVEL at https://teamzealios.com/ (https://teamzealios.com/) This podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Podsights - https://podsights.com/privacy Chartable - https://chartable.com/privacy

A Pace & A Place with Pamela Robichaud & Rachel Cohen (Episode 84)
This week we’re chatting with Rachel Cohen and Pamela Robichaud, co-organizers of The Ranger, a gravel enduro in Vermont. Rachel Cohen is a mountain and gravel cyclist in Jericho, VT. She is passionate about getting more people, particularly young Vermonters, on bikes in any capacity. She is a high school humanities teacher, serves as the president of Vermont Youth Cycling, and leads a weekly women's mountain bike ride. Pamela Robichaud is a physical therapist and was born and raised in New England.  She and her husband, Jon, recently relocated to Northwestern Vermont after 14 years in Boulder, CO.  Enabling women to find the bike for the first time or return to the sport after time away is a passion of Pamela’s.  Rachel and Pamela believe that we ought to give back to the people and places we are most connected to. For these ladies, that connection happens on a bike. Rachel and Pamela were fast friends when they met at a group ride in 2020 and became business partners last month when they became organizers of The Ranger: Vermont’s Gravel Enduro.  The Ranger is truly a "race within a ride" as only certain segments of the route are timed. The event offers various courses, all of which highlight the stunning scenery of Vermont’s Upper Valley.  Hosted at the Tunbridge Fairgrounds, riders of all ages can enjoy two nights of camping, a ‘party in the pasture’ and ample opportunities to explore rural VT by bike on both Saturday and Sunday.  The Ranger seeks to promote sustainable and vibrant community development through land conservation and providing outdoor recreation opportunities for future generations. Through working with the local communities, the Ranger is committed to focusing significant charitable giving on stewardship for rural and agricultural land, access to outdoor recreation, and sustaining small communities.  Registration is open at https://therangervt.com/ (https://therangervt.com); https://www.bikereg.com/the-ranger0 (https://www.bikereg.com/the-ranger0) You can follow Rachel, Pamela, and Ranger happenings on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/therangervt/ (@therangervt )https://www.instagram.com/nancy_legpower/ (@nancy_legpower) and https://www.instagram.com/pamelarobo/ (@pamelarobo) Sign up for the Feisty Women’s Performance Summit at https://www.womensperformance.com/ (https://www.womensperformance.com/)  **Support the Girls Gone Gravel Podcast** InsideTracker: get 20% off at https://info.insidetracker.com/feisty (insidetracker.com/feisty)  Zealios: get 20% off with code GIRLSGONEGRAVEL at https://teamzealios.com/ (https://teamzealios.com/) This podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Podsights - https://podsights.com/privacy Chartable - https://chartable.com/privacy
