Coffee: The moral dilema of foam art in Tokyo, Paris, & New York with Yuki of Book Nerds Tokyo
Yuki and I sat down to have this conversation far too long ago. Life has been crazy and, to be honest, I even stopped drinking coffee for awhile. So it felt weird publishing this episode during that time. But things feel a little more frothy these days, so here it is! And here SHE is:)Yuki has sought out, enjoyed and brewed coffee in many locations globally. She's more known for her Book Nerd Tokyo Instagram account cause she's also a bookworm (yet another reason to adore her) but you'll often see coffee in her IG posts as well.Cause books and coffee go very well together. But if you're reading this, you are well aware of this glorious pairing.Let me tell you a few things you don't already know.https://www.stephfuccio.com/geopatscoffee/8

Language: The Venn Diagram of Personality, Language & Dialect with Daniel of My Fluent Podcast
Daniel has been documenting his process of learning English via his podcast for while now. It's super inspiring so I feel the need to question him about what inspired him to start, what he's learned (other than language) and what his podcast plans are for the future. Books: A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway with Shannon Martin
In December 2019 my dear friend Shannon Martin and I sat down and recorded an episode (https://www.stephfuccio.com/geopatsbooks/7) about The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway. We were so intrigued with the book that we wanted to repeat the process with the more autobiographical version of the book, A Moveable Feast. And then we both left China and you know what happened. We did record this follow up episode in mid-2020 but life was still hectic. So here it is, nearly a year later. Thank you to Shannon for being so patient during this time. Full episode info and what's changed since this was recorded available at: https://www.stephfuccio.com/geopatsbooks/15

Language: Myths about learning Mandarin Chinese with Von of "brain burn" fame
Today’s episode is not our usual conversation style. Instead we’re going to get a deep dive update from previous guest Von from episode 13 of Geopats Language. Back in November I participated inhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/napodpomo/ ( National Podcast Posting Month) (NaPodPoMo), where crazy Podcasters like myself published an episode a day for a month. For this experiment I invited previous guests from all of the Geopats Podcast Network to come back on the podcast. I asked them to relisten to their original episode and record 2 things: an update on what’s changed for them since that episode and their impressions of that episode (most of which were a couple of years old). Most guests sent about 10-20 minutes of thoughts to me for this project but Von sent 50 minutes. Oh, this was all so interesting to hear. But for NaPodPoMo, I was only publishing mini episodes that were about 10 minutes long. So I used ahttps://player.captivate.fm/episode/50567d61-700c-4268-b5ab-f6163f4bd4ad ( “brain burn” clip) of Von’s that was about this length for NaPodPoMo and saved the rest of his language thoughts for later. Welcome to later.    During this episode he shares: -how some people overthink learning Mandarin Chinese tones -how language learning as an adult can be easier than learning languages as a child -how Mandarin Chinese gets more difficult the more you learn it (exponentially so) -how he got his Chinese name through rather nefarious methods Would love to hear from you!https://twitter.com/stephfuccio ( Twitter),https://www.instagram.com/stephfuccio ( Instagram),http://www.linkedin.com/in/dstephfuccio/ ( LinkedIn) & you can even leave a voice message onhttps://stephfuccio.weebly.com/contact.html ( Speakpipe). Can learning a new language unlock part of your personality? This is something I've wondered my entire language play experience. Language Learning Fascination & Accessibility with Kavein
How can a blind person learn and engage with language?  Kavein, who has been blind since birth, is here to help us understand more about language learning and usage while being blind. We als touch on accessibility issues with technology, specifically screen readers. Kavein grew up using 3 languages in Malaysia: Tamil, Bahasa Malay and English. He has a fascination with the evolution and history of language. We also dive into a really fun tangent about emojis that I think you'll enjoy.  The second part of this episode is about Kavein's podcasting obsession and will be on Geopats Podcasting next week.   Sign up for the Stephfuccio.com Newsletter: http://www.stephfuccio.com/ (www.stephfuccio.com) Links & more details about our guest: https://www.stephfuccio.com/geopatslanguage (https://www.stephfuccio.com/geopatslanguage) https://www.stephfuccio.com/geopatslanguage (Way)s to Support Geopats Language: Geopats Language is hosted on Captivate FM: An insanely Creator oriented hosting service with personality, marketing know how and more. About 6 months into podcasting many Podcasters hit a wall. What am I doing? Why am I doing this? And other large, podcastery questions start haunting them. The inevitable episode of doubt happens and then there is either podfade or a shift in content. This is exactly the type of episode that I heard Dakota do on his Language Learning Lounge podcast. Language Research in Nepal with the Folks from the Big & White Podcast
If you've ever wondered what it's like to live and do linguistic research in Kathmandu, Nepal, this episode is for you! Big & White, their podcasting nicknames, are two American Linguists who, until very recently were living in Nepal and creating a rather hilarious audio account of their daily lives on their podcast (the https://bigwhitepodcast.libsyn.com/website/category/%E2%80%8B (Big & White podcast)). Their connection and how they bounce off each other is so much fun to listen to. This is the main reason I became a fan of The Big & White Podcast in the first place and definitely why I asked to interview them for the show. This episode is a part of a podcast pair. How apt. Most of the podcasting chat is over on https://www.stephfuccio.com/geopatspodcasting/20 (Geopats Podcasting )and the language chat has been carefully curated to fit into this shorter episode.  What do you think? The Language of Music with Damon Castillo
This episode is really special for me. Last month for NaPodPoMo I had the extreme pleasure of chatting with Damon Castillo for this episode. We talk about the longevity of the Damon Castillo Band, his geopatness, my favorite song on the Mess of Me Album (Saint Cecilia), his recording studio in San Luis Obispo, what music he listens to and some creative struggles. Online: Patience and Balance Online: Geopats Online Return Guest,Jo of Life in Breaths
Our first guest on Geopats Online (then called Virtual Expats) in September 2018 was Joanna Czutkowna, Founder of Life in Breaths & I went shopping today. When we first met back then she was very passionate about sustainability within the fashion industry and also about redefining how we view age, beauty and the ability in how we design. Even though we have both moved from China to other places, it's been a joy to watch her projects grow and inspire people online. In today's episode you get to hear from Jo again but recently. NaPodPoMo: Year 2: Day 29: How You Know What Has Impacted Our Guests This Year
Today's episode is about covid, plain and simple. All month we've heard previous guests on the different Geopats Podcasts check in on what they've been up to since their first episode with us AND reflect back on that previous conversation. Today, we hear from them about how covid effected them this year. The answers run the range of emotions. I thank them all heaps for their honesty and openness about this matter.More info: https://www.stephfuccio.com/napodpomo/59-----------------------------Geopats Podcast Network 2 goals for November 2020:1.
