We love geek-related conventions but admittedly didn’t know much about what it actually takes to organize one. We were fortunate enough to talk to Lance Fensterman of ReedPop, an organization that helps puts these type of events together. He talked about ReedPop began and what it takes to organize these events. Not only did we have a great time but also learned a lot, and our thanks goes out to Lance for taking the time to talk with us!

Wow. Just wow. This episode was one of the best, if not the best, episode of The Walking Dead so far. It delivered on so many levels and teased so many more things to come. If next season goes where it appears to be going then we’re all in for a real treat.

Once again we’ve all been bitten by the MMO bug, this time with Star Wars: The Old Republic. Opey and Dave have been playing this for a while but thanks to a 7-day free trial Matt and Dan, along with some other of our friends, jumped on the bandwagon. It’s been quite some time since we’ve done these so the topics are all over the place (and somewhat dated) but we have so much fun doing these episodes that when we had an opening in our schedule we just couldn’t pass it up. We love demos because we love video games but we’re also very cheap. Recently Xbox Live saw the release of two highly-anticipated upcoming (or recently released, depending on the date this post is released) releases, Mass Effect 3 and SSX. We tried out both and really enjoyed one while we thought the other was just mediocre. Which was which? Listen and find out!

A while back we were challenged by longtime Geek Bits fan @JohnWBell to watch Bloodrayne: The Third Reich. This being a Uwe Boll film, we really didn’t want to do it, but we love our fans and we take our challenges seriously so we watched it. Listen to the episode below to hear our thoughts. At long last! We once again have a reason to stay up past 9:00 on Sunday night! The Walking Dead is back! And not only that, but afterwards was the premier of the new show Comic Book Men about the day-to-day shenanigans at Kevin Smith’s comic book store Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash in Red Bank, New Jersey. We watched both of these shows so you wouldn’t have to (though we’re sure you did) and have lots to say about them. What did you think about either, or both, of them?

Ah, interviews. We LOVE doing interviews. Getting to talk to the people that have a hand in creating the stuff that we love is simply awesome. This episode we had Philip Asher, Marketing Director & Designer for Trendy Entertainment, join us to talk about Dungeon Defenders, the history of Trendy and a little sneak peek of things to come. Not only that, but he also gave us four codes to download the game on Steam and we want to share those with you. All you have to do is either tweet the link to this episode with the hashtag #geekbits121 or share it on Facebook. It’s that time of year again (at least, it was last week) when companies across the globe spend LOTS of money on commercials that are intermixed with a major football game. While we’re all football fans and were interested in the game, it’s the commercials that we wanted to talk about this episode. There were a few great ones and a few terrible ones but mostly everything was just average. Which commercials were your favorite or most hated?

Hark, another game! This time we take a look at the demo for the new fantasy action RPG from EA and 38 Studios called Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. We all enjoyed it for the most part, though some more than others, and there was more than one comparison to that other action RPG that rhymes with “Cry Tim.” Have you played the demo (or the full game) and if so, who (if any) do you agree with?

Once again we’re taking a look at a new TV show, this time being the new Fox drama Alcatraz. While we all overall really like the show, there were a few differing opinions, as well as some comparisons to Lost. We’re not saying it’s that good, but we definitely think it could fill the void you might be feeling in between seasons of some of your other favorite shows.

We love games, and even more than that we love playing games together. So you can imagine our excitement when Dave bought us all a copy of a lesser-known, tower defense/action RPG hybrid called Dungeon Defenders. We played this together over the course of a few nights (and some of us even longer than that) and, as you’ll hear, we think it’s definitely one you should check out.

One of our favorite episodes each year is when we get to talk about all the cool stuff shown at CES, and this episode was no exception. There were so many cool things (and a few silly ones) displayed but we managed to pick a few of our favorites. What were you impressed with at CES? Happy New Year everyone! We decided to do our New Year’s show exactly the same way we did last year and run down some of the most anticipated movies, games and events of 2012. It’s a long list and we ran a little long but we hope you enjoy. What are your most anticipated things for 2012?

It’s that time of the year again where the year…ends. It’s also that time of the year where we recap the year by listing the top five things that we most enjoyed during the year, with some honorable mentions thrown in for good measure. It’s been a great year for geeks, and for us. A big thank you to everyone who listened and supported us throughout the year. You are the reason we keep doing this and we hope to keep doing so for many years to come. Happy New Year!

Oh Spike TV, how you amuse us with your video games “awards” show. We definitely have some thoughts on the show itself but first we run down the list of winners to see how we did with our picks. Do you agree with the winners?

The Spike TV VGAs have about as much clout in the game industry as the MTV Movie Awards do in the movie industry. Still, we’re suckers for awards shows, especially ones that involve video games. As such, we thought we’d run down the list of nominees and make our predictions as to which games will win. Take a listen and let us know if you agree with our choices.
