EvilCast Recap, Episode #260
Hold onto your clovers and blarney stones in prep for the last EvilCast St. Patrick's Day Spectacular. Okay, maybe calling it spectacular might be a bit much, but for at least Keri, Ross, Blake and Chris, it is a pretty big deal. It only seemed appropriate that this week EA Sports announced their new PGA Tour Golf cover athlete: Irishman Rory McIlroy. Expect for talk of this as well as Nintendo announcing a big move into mobile game making, and rumors that Kojima may be on the outs with Konami! Yeah, we didn't see that coming either! Wrapping things up in this special episode, Ross belted out his traditional tune o' the Irish, customized to the audience. If you have ever been on or communicated with the podcast listen up! You might just hear yourself getting name-dropped in this bitter sweet penultimate episode serenade. Oh the emotions! DOWNLOAD | SUBSCRIBE IN iTUNES Links to Topics Discussed 1. Move over Tiger! EvilCast Recap, Episode #259
"Toot! Toooooot!" The delay train has once again rolled into town and taken with it several new games with it. Chris, Ross, Blake and Keri try to make sense of it all, while also reliving the near disasterous scenario of Obsidian having to close, were it not for their successful Kickstarter campaign. And lets not even give Ross another chance to talk about Star Citizen, lord knows he is always looking for an excuse... With only a couple of EvilCasting weeks remaining, Ross completely gave up on gaming. Instead he keyed off of the announcement of the new Star Wars film's title and imagined his, "Top 5 Theoretical Plots of Star Wars: Rogue One." What do you think Disney has up their sleeve? EvilCast Recap, Episode #258
Are you ready to ROCK!?! As the EvilCast draws ever closer to its inevitable conclusion, Blake, Keri, Chris and Ross once again convene to chat up some of the biggest gaming stories of the week. As was just alluded to, one of the biggest stories of the week revolved around the return of Rock Band to the newest generation of consoles. Additionally, the team eulogized the recently dismantled Maxis, talked about potential newcomers to both the home console and VR space. It was a packed episode to say the very least. Somehow Ross managed to fight through all of the tears and deliver his, "Top 5 Maxis Games." Did he happen to miss any of your favorites? EvilCast Recap, Episode #257
This is one of those episodes that will probably go down as one of the classics. For REAL. It was really that great! Chris, Ross, Blake and Keri once again take listeners on a audio tour through the mind of a mental patient, all while going over some of the biggest gaming topics of the week. Some of the items on the hitlist this time around include Lionsgate getting into bed with TellTale Games, the impending return of both Guitar Hero and Rock Band, as well as net neutrallity once again coming across the wire. Don't worry, they didn't let Blake take part in the conversation this time! First it was Power Rangers, now Ross turns the same concept on it's head with his, "Top 5 Franchises In Need of a Gritty Reboot." We promise not to let Ross make another Pokemon dogfighting reference ever again. Also, be sure to listen all the way to the end of this week's episode for a very important announcement about the future of the EvilCast. Trust us. Shadow Realms has been canned, Bethesda is planning their first E3 press conference AND Curiosity still hasn't paid out? What a crazy week! Blake, Keri, Chris, and Ross slog through these bevy of stories and enough talk of Jonathan Blow to make a AAA fan sick to their stomach. Be sure to shield yourself from the nerdy gamma rays being emitted from this conversation! EvilCast Recap, Episode #255
Could the first podcast of February finally bring about the changes to this industry that gamers have been begging for over the last decade? Hell no. This is just a silly podcast, you fool. But now that you are in the door, thanks to the eyecatching intro, we might as well look back on the biggest stories of the week, including Sony unloading their MMO business, Naughty Dog making the mistake of discussing framerates and the amazing Collector's Editions that are awaiting Mortal Kombat fams. Needless to say, but Chris' nerdgasm nearly put Blake's usual shenanigans to shame. Ross seems to think it is time to follow the example of others, so he whipped up his, "Top 5 Benefits of Backing the EvilCast on Patreon." Sure, it would probably never happen, but if you are crazy enough to be interested in such a crazy scheme, be sure to let us know! EvilCast Recap, Episode #254
It was only a matter of time before the cast had to do their first shorthanded episode. While Chris was away, Keri, Blake and Ross moved tentatively forward with the usual podcast slog, including discussing the closure of industry staple, Joystiq, Ubisoft going after download resellers and PlayStation partnering with Spotify. Mix in a little talk of Nintendo's terrible, "YouTube Revenue Sharing Program," and you have the recipe for another great news segment. Fresh on the heels of the Evolve's mobile companion match-3 game, Ross looked into his crystal ball and prognosticated his, "Top 5 Mobile Spin-offs of Console Titles." EvilCast Recap, Episode #253
Now that all of the fun predictions and "Game of the Year" shenanigans are out of the way, it is time for the original trio of Blake, Chris, and Ross to get back to what they do best... blabbing on endlessly about gaming news. The punchlist for this episode includes the new Windows 10, Hololens and cross-platform play on the Xbox One, Club Nintendo riding off into the sunset, and the potential of a joypad being built into a future iPhone. EvilCast Recap, Episode #252
Now that the new year is in full swing, it felt like it was about damn time to get around to awarding the podcast's annual "Game of the Year." But lets not get ahead of ourselves... First, there were important news matters to discuss like Hotline Miami 2's developer encouraging piracy of their product down under, tons of talk about the New 3DS XL and the details of how a seemingly small hacker group could bring down both the PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE at the same time. Seriously, what kind of douchebag does something like that? As always, the "Game of the Year" was heated and disagreements were to be expected. EvilCast Recap, Episode #251
Somehow the EvilCast managed to survive into another year. Who would have seen that coming? And as is the tradition, it is high time for Keri, Ross, Chris and Blake to look back on their disastrous predictions for 2014 and look ahead into the incoming year. But before all of those shenanigans ensued, there were still some news stories that needed to be addressed. Among the topics this week were the Xbox One's push to bring cable streaming services onto the console, the decline of the Japanese game industry, and Bioware pressing reboot on the development of Shadow Realms. Some companies just don't know how to relax over the holidays... As alluded to earlier, this episode's featured segment hops in a time machine and travels back to 365 days ago, so that the team can learn about how crazy they were in their 2014 predictions. Back at full strength once again, Keri, Chris, Ross and Blake are ready to kick ass through another week of gaming news. Holy Day 1 Patches, Batman! In between download queues, Ross, Keri and Blake sat down for another deep and retrospective discussion of this year in broken releases. But don't worry: that's not all! With Blizzcon now firmly in the books, it only seem appropriate to look back at some of the biggest news and non-news tidbits of the last seven days, including the likes of Blizzard's first new IP announcement in 17 years. Oh, and did we forget to mention that Just Cause 3 is on the way too? Yeah, Blake wants that as soon as possible. This must be what normal feels like? Now that the EvilCast crew is deep into the glut of the holiday game release flood, it was only a matter of time before they came up for air. Now that Extra Life is effectively in the rear-view window of 2014, it is time for Keri, Ross, Chris and Blake to get back to what they do best: Gaming News. Yeah, we chuckled when typing it too, but with the morsels that this week offered up, anyone could have been a news expert. Some of the lineup this time around included the dismissal of the case between Noriega and Activision, Star Citizen continuing to hit it rich, and Sony delaying the free version of Driveclub, 'until further notice.' Well at least the paying customers will get to play the game... someday! EvilCast Recap, Episode #244
Twas the night before Extra-Life and all through Blake's house, not a creature was stirring, except for Chris and Ross. Despite Keri's absence, the fearless trio took the fantastic news that she still provided for them and spun it into podcasting gold. This week's episode may be shorter than usual in prep for Saturday's big event, but that didn't stop the team from discussing brain training games, idiot game developers, and the return of 3D Realms. Duke Nukem would be proud of their resilience! Who's NEXT? Going back to what he knows best, Ross decided to return to the well of infinite lists, AKA, his imagination. This time around he fished out his, "Top 5 Video Game/Reality Show Crossovers That Need to Happen." Driveclub and Tetris and Kickstarter, Oh My! The full squad is back from our break to tackle a bevy of newsflashes. Thankfully Chris didn't lose his mind during the Kickstarter conversation because that paved the way for talk of Nintendo's budding attempts at internet shopping, and Tetris becoming a feature film. Yep, we don't get it either, but good luck to the poor director that has to make that disaster a reality. Instead of our usual featured segment, we instead discussed our plans for October 25th's Extra Life gaming marathon. Just when you thought you'd heard it all, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani comes to the defense of gaming. Who could have ever seen that coming? Well Keri, Ross and Blake certainly weren't prepared for that bombshell, but they were more than ready for talk of new Steam features, Blizzard canceling their World of Warcraft successor, and Gamestop exploring the resale of DLC. Yes, you read that right: RESELLING DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT. It sounds just as insane the second time around.
