S4 E1 - Doug Bass and Flicking Finches
Welcome back! My apologies it's been so long since I posted an episode. In the last few months, I've started a new job in a completely new field and am adjusting to a new schedule. Thankfully, I think this change will let me start to make content more regularly. Thank you for sticking it out with me! I had the pleasure to interview Doug Bass from Meridae Games about a new game he's working on. Flicking Finches is live on Kickstarter and has less than a week left to fund. This dexterity and strategy game has a lot to offer, including some delightful artwork. Check out the episode to hear Doug and I discuss the evolution of board games over the last decade and the process of developing a board game. We had a great time chatting! Let me know what you think! Chat me up on Twitter @doclizz! Until next time, game on! Regina  --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/gameongirl/message

S3 E9 - Watching Lord of the Rings as a Mom
Greetings Gentle Listeners! This week Regina takes us back to the world of Lord of the Rings. She talks about what it's like to watch the trilogy now that she's a mom. Yes... it's been that long since she watched these movies. She touches briefly on how the movies have aged but really takes a deep dive into her own emotional response to one character in particular.  Have you ever had a similar experience? Have you watched a familiar story and had a completely different emotional reaction to one of the characters? Let Regina know on Twitter @DocLizz! Until next time, game on!  --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/gameongirl/message

Isabela is here to tell us about a Kickstarter she launched this week with her co-editor, Jed Sabin. It Gets Even Better: Stories of Queer Possibility will feature stories of near-future sociopolitical or technological change, far-future imaginings of new societies, and other stories of queer joy. Listen to hear Isabela talk about how the collection came to be, help us understand the genre of speculative fiction, and her quarantine obsession with plants.  Support the Kickstarter here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/speculativelyqueer/it-gets-even-better-stories-of-queer-possibility Read more in the press release: https://speculativelyqueer.com/press/ Follow the project on social media: https://twitter.com/specqueer https://www.instagram.com/speculativelyqueer/ https://www.facebook.com/speculativelyqueer Game on Girl is available on all podcast services. S3 E7 - Biden's Island and Sus AOC
Greetings gentle listeners! In this episode of Game on Girl, Regina talks about politics. Specifically, Joe Biden's Animal Crossing New Horizon's island and AOC's Twitch stream of Among Us. These two political approaches mark a progressive shift in campaigning. Listen to hear what she has to say about these two very different bids to get the gamer vote.  What do you think of these campaign approaches? Let Regina know on Twitter @doclizz!  Until next time, game on! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/gameongirl/message

S3E3 - Super Bowl Half Time Shows and Sexuality
Did you watch the Super Bowl? Were you surprised by the half time show? In this episode, I talk about how my attention was drawn to the half time show. Reactions from friends and articles appearing in my news feed made it impossible for me not to watch it. As I am not a sports fan, it's not the kind of performance that usually draws my attention. But I'm glad I took the time to watch.  Did you watch the show? Was it just on in the background? What were your thoughts about the performance? Let me know @doclizz! Oh and who won the game? I don't think it was the 49ers or else I would have heard my cousins shouting about it from several states over. :) Until next time, game on! S2E7 - Indie Author Trish Heinrich
Hello Everyone! Yes, Game on Girl is back! This month I have a great interview with Indie Author, Trish Heinrich. About Trish Trish is an indie author I had the pleasure of being on a panel with at last year's Geek Girl Con. During our Geeky Moms panel, it was clear that Trish was articulate, engaging, and thoughtful person. I had no idea she was also a "WoW Head" and a serious gamer. We have a great conversation talking about her evolution into being a superhero writer. We also talk about our love of all things Wonder Woman and an aversion we both have to reading comic books. So give it a listen and let us know what you think! Support an Indie Author You can order the first book in Trish's Vigilante's series right now for .99 cents! Go here and order today! Remember: The best gift you can give an indie author is a review! Her new book series comes out on February 15th and pre-orders start at the end of January. Subscribe to her site for regular updates. New Logo In case you didn't notice, Game on Girl has a new logo. Many thanks to Kaytalin Platt McCarry for the design. Her work should be familiar since she is the designer behind The Geek Embassy logo as well. To Discuss What was your first geekdom? How do your geeky passions influence other work in your life? Let me know on the TGE Twitter - @thegeekembassy! Until next time, game on! Regina --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/gameongirl/message
