The GABACast, Episode 145: Anchor Up
Looks like the Gamecocks won't be going ofer this year. That was a result this team desperately needed. Actually, I think the fanbase as a whole needed a game like that, particularly the second half. Once again, Bobo was very good in calling plays, the defense showed some improvement with different personnel in the secondary. Among this, we talk about lots of other stuff. The GABACast, Episode 144: On the Hotseat
This season has started off about as bad as that Brad Scott Heinz Ketchup commercial...well, maybe not THAT bad. But it certainly has room for improvement. Missed opportunities have really set this team back and Will Muschamp's hot seat is about as on fire as this episode, so let's dive right into this week's content. Well, I don't know how else to say this...but that absolutely sucked. I mean, could there have a more South Carolina Gamecock way to lose a football game? Probably not. The GABACast, Episode 141: The WEEKEND EDITION (feat. Langston Moore)
A podcast recorded almost a week ago posted at a random time on a Sunday? Yep. That's us. The only South Carolina Gamecocks sports podcast that exists on the internet.    In today's episode, we try to put a bow on the football season, look ahead to basketball and other sports that may give us joy in the coming months, and wax poetic about the future. We're also fortunate enough to have been able to spend a little time with longtime friend of the podcast, Langston Moore, who stops by to talk football, life, and the newest installment of his Just a Chicken book series.  There are winners, losers, lots of digressions, and the usual GABACast mess that you all know and love. Enjoy this special edition of the show!   DSGCTYW

The GABACast, Episode 140: GUESS WHO'S BACK
In one of our darkest hours, our longtime friend of the podcast joins us to talk Gamecock Football.    Many thanks to Connor Shaw for taking some time out of his day to wax poetic on the state of the South Carolina Gamecocks football program, Will Muschamp's future, Ryan Hilinski's status, locker room talk, and much much more! Spoiler alert, this is an unedited, on-the-fly, interview so management apologizes in advance for the #quality #content. CLICK HERE to find us on iTunes, or just mash the play button below. BUT, in the meantime, if you want to mosey on over to a podcast that Connor and Dustin Riddle have started, well you can CLICK HERE as well. Or you can also go to ShawCamps.com if you've got a little one interested in getting better at football.    Anywho. Enjoy your bye-week.    DSGCTYW

The GABACast, Episode 139: pLeAsE eNjOy YoUr PoDcAsT
Y'all are probably wondering, 'wow, it's Friday, what the heck is the podcast doing showing up on a Friday?!' You're Welcome is what.  We talk about DACOACHO and how he might be a watchword for Will Muschamp. We make fun of future offensive coordinator for the Gamecocks, Chad Morris. We talk about Illinois and their terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day that still somehow turned into a win. We also talk about how awesome our championship soccer team is. Don't @ us.    We also talk about App State, because we are contractually obligated to do so. We wonder what it would be like to have an offense with a little more spice than hospital grits. We seriously contemplate a scenario in which the Gamecocks can beat the Texas A&M Aggies. We digress.  There's also uniform predictions, X Factor players of the game, and a new 'One Big Question' that we think you'll all enjoy.    Click here to find us on iTunes, or just mash the play button.    DSGCTYW

The GABACast, episode 138: ANCHOR DOWN.
Hey there, South Carolina Gamecocks sports fans! Sports are good and entertaining sometimes. Saturday was not one of those times. Despite a fairly simple victory against a lackadasical Vanderbilt Commodores team, the boys in Garnet were less than promising under the lights in Nashville. What a better way to celebrate a [meh] WIN against a conference opponent than to do what we do best: talk a bunch about other stuff. Like how ridiculously bad NFL quarterbacks are, but that actually might reveal a larger conspiracy to protect the ridiculous guaranteed contracts for starters so the GM's don't look like total morons. Or how super cool an undefeated Dartmouth is. Or how godawful Syracuse's defense is.  We've got winners, losers, a really interesting game recap, including but not limited to thoughts on how Bryan Edwards doesn't deserve the plays we call, #FREEDAKJOYNER is about to be a thing, and [again] the refs screwed us out of a touchdown. We also [deep breath] look forward to the game against a frightening App State team with a really great offensively-minded coach.  We hope y'all enjoy the show. We certainly had fun recording.  Click here to find us on iTunes, or just press play.

The GABACast, Episode 137: VOLUNTEERED.
Life is all about seasons...   ...it's becoming pretty clear that this is NOT the season of the Gamecock.   LIsten, Saturday's collapse against the Tennessee Volunteers may have been gut-wrenching. Demoralizing, even. Yes. The Gamecocks allowed the creamsicle mafia to move the ball virtually at will throughout the second half. Yes, the Gamecocks allowed a blocked punt for a scoop and score. Yes, the Gamecocks offense looked like it had the flu for the majority of the game. Yes, the Gamecocks got [feigns Steve Spurrier voice] whalloped on Saturday.  LET'S PODCAST. The Three Amigos are back together once again for the latest installment of the only South Carolina Gamecocks podcast on the internet. And don't worry. We're here to help you with what ails you. Mainly we're here to talk about other stuff that happened last week and to look ahead to the fact that bouncyhoops season is quickly approaching. Also, good football names are just the best. Also, PJ Fleck is a crazy person and we can appreciate that. Also, Texas Tech might've pooped the bed. Also, Notre Dame definitely did. Also, Wofford might be the best football team in South Carolina. Don't judge us. Yeah, we could talk about how Wisconsin is suddenly a smoldering pile of tires. Yeah, we could talk for hours about how BMac should probably start updating his LinkedIn profile. Yeah, we could talk about how Greg Sankey is a total wimp. Instead, we talk about our reasonable expectations for the Gamecocks' Basketball program. Because, we will tirelessly give you exactly what you want: that good good content.   Hope you enjoy the show! Please CLICK HERE to find us on iTunes, or just mash the play button. Whatever. Don't cost nothin'.

The GABACast, Episode 136: GATOR BAIT.
We're not going to beat a dead horse. Things were looking good last weekend against the Florida Gators, until things got sloppier than the weather in Williams-Brice. Instead of a second consecutive victory over a top ten opponent, the good guys came away with a rather disappointing loss.  That being said, we soldiered on. Nobody had a voice for a few days, so this week you get a #FRIDAY episode of the only South Carolina Gamecocks podcast available on the internet. That being said, today's episode is a little short, but it's still full of the usual nonsense you have come to expect from us.  We try to pick apart last week's game, and shed some sort of positivity on a frustrating game. We also set our eyes on tomorrow's matchup against the Tennessee Volunteers, including uniform predictions (WHICH SPOILER ALERT WE GOT THEM RIGHT), XFactor players, and our best attempt at a score prediction.    We hope you enjoy the show!   Click here to find us on iTunes, where you should subscribe, rate, and review. The GABACast, Episode 135: ALL DAWGS GO TO HEAVEN.
Unless you 've been recently abducted by aliens you are aware that the South Carolina Gamecocks upended the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday. In Sanford Stadium. Bushes were pruned. We're awaiting word on whether the invasive species that wraps Dooley Field is expected to survive. That being said, winners and losers this week are pretty focused on the showdown in Athens. From the unidentified player found running around with the Gamecock flag post-game, to a post-mortem analysis of UGA Football's Twitter account (update: they're acting like nothing happened.). We also dive into the x's and o's of the game: including the defense's commendable performance despite being on the field for 95 PLAYS. Also, DID YOU KNOW, that the more Jake Fromm throws the ball, the less likely UGA is to win the game? Well, now you do. And to add fuel to the fire, DC3's chaos theory for a path for the Gamecocks to a NY6 bowl game is still alive. We also know that while last week was fun, this week finds yet another stern test in a (formerly) top ten team, the Florida Gators. The Gamecocks tip off at Noon (again), but this time at WillyB. It's State Fair week, so you know something truly weird and wacky will happen. The guys try to decide what on earth to expect against Dan Mullen's pretty dang productive offense (that sounds weird to say), and do their best to predict what will happen this weekend. There's all that plus uniform predictions, x-factor players of the week, and your favorite new segment, 'One Pressing Question'. 'When was the last time a Gamecock Football game made you truly happy?' Hope you enjoy the show!

The GABACast, episode 134: GOIN' ON DOWN TO JAWJA
Hey there, sports fans!   The South Carolina Gamecocks spent the last 168 hours trying to battle the daunting invisible opponent known as ‘bye week’, and have arrived at the other side (mostly) unscathed. This is a good thing, because the team travels to Athens this weekend to face off against a top-five Georgia Bulldogs squad that looks mighty terrifying. That’s not gonna stop us from making ‘Jake Fromm State Farm’ jokes. Or more ‘Major League’ references. You get what you pay for. Just because because there wasn’t a game played in WillyB last weekend, it doesn’t mean it wasn’t an action-packed weekend FULL of winners and losers: DC3 injured himself in a remarkably dad way. An announcer made the most deadpan hail mary call ever. A D-3 team is beating its opponents so bad they got an invitation to jump straight into FCS. The Gamecocks have exactly one quality soccer program and that’s fine. Apparently SMU is also back. We also (with a fair amount of dread) look ahead to the impending matchup with UGA. Including our keys to the game, the folks we need to have show up in order to have a chance, and our best attempt at final score predictions. There’s also your favorite new segment: ‘One Pressing Question’, in which we pose the age old query: “If you could change one game in Carolina history, which one would it be??” Which, in true GABACast fashion, turns into a conversation about Blake Mitchell and how everything always relates back to Baylor.   We hope you enjoy the show!   Please click here to find us on iTunes,

The GABACast, episode 133 part deux: HOPE FLOATS.
Howdy folks! After some technical difficulties last week, which were pretty on-brand considering the offensive failure to launch against the Missouri Tigers, the only South Carolina Gamecocks podcast in existence returns to bring you the quality content you love and deserve. And so on. So...what do we make of Saturday’s convincing victory against a paltry Kentucky Wildcats team? Can we all just decide that chrome helmets are not good? Has the Muschamp Kentucky Curse been lifted? Is this football team *actually* not bad? Does Oklahoma State’s Chuba Hubbard have the greatest name in football history? Does Jalen Hurts already have the Heisman Trophy in his back pocket? All that and more, including DC3’s typical negativity, Sam and Alex’s technical insight, thoughts on Jamyest Williams departure, trolling fans on the jumbotron, and a BRAND NEW SEGMENT: ‘one pressing question’ that you’re sure to enjoy. Hope you all enjoy the show.  Click here to find us on iTunes. Or you can mash the play button below if you’re into that sort of thing.  DSGCTYW

The GABACast, episode 132: Good teams win, Great teams cover.
The outcome Saturday was not optimal. Would the outcome have been any different if the South Carolina Gamecocks were allowed to have the two touchdowns that the referees took away? It's difficult to say, but it would've been alot more fun. Oh well. I hope the SEC officials enjoy their fruit and nut assortments they'll get for Christmas.  Moving along, this week we break down the highlights and the lowlights from the game against the Alabama Crimson Tide (spoiler alert there's Najee Harris talk so cover your ears), including thoughts on Carolina's inability to defend the slant and their difficulties with finishing scoring drives. How can they face those concerns as the Gamecocks travel to Bizzaro Columbia to face the Missouri Tigers this weekend. We also roll through winners and losers, including Pat Narduzzi's terrible trip to the redzone, Ty'Son Williams showing the Trojans who the real USC is, a debate on the best team in Florida, and much much more!   If you have half as much fun listening as we did making the show, then we had twice as much fun as you.   DSGCTYW

The GABACast, Episode 131: Prepping for the Tide
After a disappointing loss to North Carolina, the Gamecocks bounced back in a big way with a blowout victory over Charleston Southern. In this week's episode we discuss: Why Tennessee sucksIs Jimbo Fisher the most overpaid person in the history of humanity? The beginning of the Hilinski era and how confident we should be in Ryan Hilinski going forward. Will the offensive playcalling carry over to the Alabama game? Will we actually be able to hang with the Tide and, dare we say it, pull off an upset? Maybe? Our uniform predictions and X-Factor Players of the Game.Twitter questions Thanks for listening to the only Soth Carolina Gamecocks podcast on the entire internet. Enjoy the show!

The GABACast, Episode 130: Belk Kickoff Disaster.
Listen, we all know that the first rule of Gamecock fandom is that you will experience soul crushing defeat that will leave you staring at yourself in the mirror wondering why in the world you do things like this to yourself. However, Saturday's defeat at the hands of a resurrected (and questionably botox'ed) Mack Brown team may have been a new experience. Losing to a University of North Carolina Tarheels team that won a combined five games in the past two seasons with a freshman quarterback when you're optimistic about a fourth year quarterback and a host of veteran talent might have thrown you for a loop. Well, dear fellow Gamecock fan, THE ONLY GAMECOCK PODCAST IN EXISTENCE IS HERE TO HELP This week, Sam and DC3 go old school, because Alex literally couldn't even, but despite the fact that there were only two of the three amigos, the TAEKS were still flying like seagulls in a Walmart parking lot.  The guys break down the loss in Charlotte and wax poetic on what the rest of the season might hold. We bag on the coaching staff pretty heavily, wonder aloud what it's going to look like with Ryan Hilinski taking over for an injured Jake Bentley, and try to decipher just where the Gamecocks are going to go from here. There are also winners and losers, including Tulsa's terrible horrible no good very bad running game, the year of the freshman quarterback, Willie Taggart's weird theory on hydration, and BAYLOR'S BACK BABY (living vicariously through Liberty). We also field your listener questions, threaten to boycott uniform reveals, and much much more! The GABACast, Episode 129: South Carolina vs North Carolina Preview
Folks, we did it. Our long national nightmare is over. We made it through the dark days of summer and have reached what is basically better than Christmas morning. It's officially game week. Football. Is. Back. Yea, it's probably going to be super hot this weekend in Charlotte for opening kick but who cares? Our South Carolina Gamecocks will kick it off at 3:30 on ESPN against the North Carolina Tar Heels.  In this week's episode we hash out a lot of different things like: Why Feleipe Franks is kind of a head case.An NFL longsnapper that truly forgot how to football and then unceremoniously got cut.Richard's miserable morning trying to get inside an IKEA furniture store. Our thoughts on that absolute clown show that was Miami vs Florida. Our UNC preview and predictions (spoiler: DC3 is the pessimistic one). Our uniform predictions and our X-Factor players of the weekTwitter questions Thank you so much for listening to the only South Carolina Gamecocks podcast on the internet. We're the only one. Do not fact check this.  We hope you enjoy the show half as much as we enjoyed recording it!

The GABACast, Episode 128: THERE IS ACTUAL FOOTBALL THIS WEEK
We're running on fumes coming into the season. Just admit it. We all are. School is back. The temperature won't drop for anyone, and your mother-in-law is still not a big fan of how you 'organized' the garage.  We get it. The dog days SUCK.   That's why we're here to bring you FOOTBALL!   Your trusted source for University of South Carolina Gamecocks sports news and other stuff is back to celebrate the return of college football! As the only college football podcast on the planet, and as trusted journalists in a respected and well-regulated field, we are committed to bringing you the most up-to-date and accurate news, insight, headlines, and inside scoops, so you can stick to the important stuff like planning your tailgate this weekend. That being said, inside this week's episode, you'll find: - Why is Johnny Manziel basically taking a job at a fast food restaurant? - The US Amateur was one of the best golf tournaments of the year to watch/follow. - Billy Napier is *not* good. - What Gamecock would've been a great player, but for whatever reason, had their career cut short? - Is Florida / Miami actually going to be fun? (it's not going to be fun.) We also roll through a different sort of ranking for the SEC...we rank the teams by their head coaches. It actually turned out to be a fun exercise, and DC3 actually found out that he may, in fact, be an optimist.    Hope you enjoy the show half as much as we enjoyed recording it!   DSGCTYW

The GABACast, Episode 127: BLACK MAGIC RETURNS (don't @ us).
Hey there sportsfans! What movie would you like to remake? Are movie remakes even worth it? A very GABACast diatribe starts off our latest episode, and it continues long into the night. Spoiler alert, DC3 wants to remake Casablanca and it’s probably a bad idea. That should surprise noone.  Moving along, we roll through our winners and losers, including Antonio Brown’s helmet (and feet), Florida’s done gone and found another troublemaker, the Baltimore Orioles ridiculous upset, why the baseball might be ruining baseball (note: we still abide by our stance of ‘never bunt, hit dingers’ but feel like the amount of home runs being hit currently is ridiculous don’t hate us.) We also delve into the position group that we’re most confident in heading into the season opener. And for the main event: we preview the second half of the South Carolina Gamecocks football season. There may or may not be some quintissential DC3 pessimism. There is definitely #BANTER.  We hope you all enjoy the show. Please click here to find us on iTunes..   DSGCTYW

The GABACast, Episode 126: FOOTBALL (almost) BACK
Howdy friends,   We can almost smell the tailgates in the air. Except for the fact that we can't breathe due to the current humidity levels. That being said, football is so close we can almost taste it. Except it doesn't taste great right now...that barbecue needs to smoke for a few more weeks.  In this week's episode, DC3 makes a big divergence into (questionably) decent audio, and the guys are officially back. We think. Among our usual shenanigans, like Winners and Losers of the week (SPOILER: ART BRILES BACK), we dive into more offseason potpurri, the Tavien Feaster thing, and the most compelling or pivotal position battles on the horizon. We also roll into the first half of  WAY TOO EARLY  football season predictions...and it's going to go about how you would think it will go. *WARNING: our predictions are subject to change without notice or without even just cause...just 'cause. Rejoice! Football is coming! Anticipation is high! ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!  Enjoy the show!
