Series 3: Episode 9 – A nation in a warped looking glass looking for a new normal?
Do not adjust your set, we are back. La Revolución will not be Televised, just podcasted. Terry and Derek are soldiering on without our dear leader Şenol, who has gone for a bit of R&R leaving the FT mansions in our hands. The fool! Tel and Del chat about numerous topics that still haven’t passed their sell-by-date, …just. They go back to the culture war and ask is it backfiring or at least burning itself out? Is there a backlash to the main political parties and is there a nation of Gareth Southgates in the south who yearn for a normal political playing field? Is the Mother of Parliaments an ‘Alice through the looking-glass’ theme park where telling lies is okay, but pointing them out is bad? Crossing the floor we ask, what does it take to be a successful Labour Party leader? Please be assured that our compadre Şenol will be back to keep order with an iron hand in that velvety glove that we so admire. Thanks for listening. Series 3: Episode 8 – Government in need of booster jab to see off the Cummings variant.
We focus this weeks podcast on the 7 hour marathon session Dominic Cummings gave to the Health and Science Parliamentary Joint Committee. We question Cummings performance and agree he played it well – it will be very difficult now for this Government to extract itself from the shared failure described by Cummings. A number of failings referenced resonated with many of us – it’s easy to forget that mistakes were made from the beginning of January 2020 onwards. We hope Cummings deliberate attempt to widen the perimeter of any future enquiry works. Finally – we look ahead to Matthew Hancock appearing before the joint committee later in June. Will he find the time to attend or will he say he is to busy saving lives…. Thanks for listening. Do leave your 5 star ratings for us on your platform and choice and send any questions to us at FurloughTravellers.com.

Series 3: Episode 7 – Send in the Gun Boats!
We look at the elections – wondering whether the SNP will get their majority, will Hartlepool go blue and will Keith Starmer prove his worth to the Labour heartlands or are the poor results projected by the press as fixed as Keith’s quiff. Jersey – is this the moment Boris Johnson gets his Captain Mainwaring moment. We conclude this is daft posturing by Macron’s government that could be a gift from heaven for the Tories ahead of the elections. Finally – we look ahead to Dominic Cummings sitting before MPs later this month, should be a rollercoaster – let’s hope he remembers to bring his glasses. Series 3 – Episode 6: The country needs more than a jab in the arm to get back on its feet.
We reflect on the impact of the Race and Met Police reports that were both published recently. What do both do to public confidence and trust in the government and bodies who should protect us all – that is already at all time low! We look at the Hartlepool by-election – will the Northern Independence Party make any any progress or are they just monkeying around!? Oh, we also ask why it took millions of taxpayers money to build the new No.10 briefing room and why why why why is Kier Starmer still playing the role of Government lawyer?! Thanks for listening.

Series 3 – Episode 5: Matt hands contract to his mate as he cocks up again
We look at the Health Secretary’s decisions this week – from booking his holiday (going against Government advice) to handing out another huge contract to his mate. Apparently, if you like horse racing and have Tory friends you can make PPE. And take a look at the comments made by the Chair of the 1922 Committee, as he questioned the cabinet’s abilities and continued handling of the pandemic – clearly Tory backbenchers are sharpening their knives for the PM unlike Keith Starmer who continues to be like the Churchill dog in his response to the Government on all issues! Series 3 – Episode 4: The EU is floored by a jab
We look at the incredible effort from the NHS and military to vaccinate over 10 million people so far – something this government of chancers are trying to take credit for but we know it’s because the grown ups are now in charge! We wonder how much the EU will regret triggering the short lived vaccine war and question whether the leader of the opposition has the appetite to take the political fight to government or is this as good as it gets. Series 3 – Episode 3: Sorry seems to be the hardest word
We reflect on the awful milestone this week as the UK passed 100,000 deaths to Covid but focus our attention on this government’s continued failure to get a grip on the pandemic. No strategy. No plan. No idea. Agreeing this is what you get with hobbyist ministers who just don’t care! Looking at the unsurprising mess that is Brexit with red tape landing by the truck load we question whether this government really do support small business or is that just an illusion – like the £350 million per week the NHS is still waiting to receive! We end with the question which will get louder and louder this year: when will Boris Johnson step down/get kicked out and look at one or two Tories who are now on maneuorves! Thanks for listening.

Series 3 – Episode 2: Lady Gaga toasts America with a cup of Joe
We look at Trumps goodbye which ended with loud music similar to any Slug and Lettuce pub and a 21 gun salute that fired blanks, a bit like Trumps administration. We welcome President Joe to the top table and discuss the challenges he faces and wonder whether he will be able to steer the US in the right direction as they sit stationary at a very dangerous junction. We also continue our ongoing despair at the killer clowns in the Government and reckon Priti wants Boris’s job. Watch this space!! For those fashion lovers – we do discuss the colour of Lady Gaga’s dress as Derek spotted she was wearing anti fascist colours (I’m guessing some of your thought I would say Versace!). Listen next week for more fashion tips and a refreshingly funny and honest look at politics today in all its frailties.

Series 3 – Episode 1: Trump really is the Space Cowboy
We look at Trump’s insurrection – what does this mean for his legacy which is surely now ruined and look ahead at President (elect) Biden’s inauguration. Inheriting a country that has had all its of prejudices exposed and now has to tackle – massive challenges ahead. We also look at Boris and chums who are still playing games with us – they don’t know what they are doing and don’t care how that impacts us all, surely the only explanation for the shockingly poor decisions made on lockdown, schools and vaccine rollout are down to entitled and incompetent elected politicians and an opposition that only works with Marcus Rashford in the no.9 role. Ending on positive – we are back, and it is always good to talk.Do leave your questions and ratings (5 star please) for us and we will respond. Cheers and stick with us for 2021 – it promises to be quite the ride.

Series 2 – Episode 11: An oven ready Christmas turkey served by Boris
We look at the Galatic Federation – wondering if we can emigrate there and what deal do they have with the EU?! We’d like to ask Sky News but they are on holiday until Easter – assume on their way to Barnard Castle. Ending on a high – the vaccine is here and the Government still don’t have a clue! Have a great festive break – speak to you in 2021! Oh, leave your 5 star ratings please…..ho bo ho jo
