Defeating the Fear - Overcoming your PTSD and/or Trauma
So, fear is one of our biggest challenges when it comes to traumatic experiences or PTSD.  We fear having to face the pain again.  We fear being around crowds, we fear going to restaurants, we fear LEAVING the house.  We begin to find comfort in our fear and force ourselves into solitude in order to avoid the possibility of being put into an uncomfortable situation. To truly heal from our PTSD or trauma we must find ways to attach each fear individually and overcome it.  By allowing our fears to control our lives, we are allowing our PTSD to take our life from us.  Fear prevents us from moving forward towards living a more fulfilling and meaningful life that we all deserve.  In this podcast I discuss how to defeat those fears and begin healing from your PTSD.

Use Your Past to Build a Better Future - Overcoming PTSD/Trauma
Sounds ridiculous doesn't it?  The fact that some of the worse things that have ever happened to you, can actually help you?  Just take a listen to this episode, and you'll have a much better understanding.  In order to fully overcome our PTSD or trauma, we must learn how to embrace our past instead of hiding from it.  The more we hide from it the more it hurts.  Going through trauma or PTSD is like having a broken bone, except it's in your brain. When a bone breaks and is properly healed, it actually comes back stronger than it was before.  Calcium and a callus builds up around the break.  This is what trauma and PTSD is, a break that needs to be healed.  When you put a cast on the break and heal it properly, you'll actually come back stronger than you were before the traumatic event(s) ever happened.  Listen to my story of how my trauma led into some of the best things that I would've never imagined happening for myself.  This is a great episode for those of you trying to learn more about your PTSD or Trauma and the symptoms that come along with it.

Overcoming PTSD - Battling Insomnia, getting better sleep
One of our biggest struggles is not getting good sleep.  When dealing with PTSD, we lose a lot of sleep.  Our minds have a difficult time shutting off and it just becomes exhausting.  We spend all day trying to avoid the bad thoughts and memories, then lay down to bed hoping to finally get some rest.  But, it doesn't allow that.  Our brain seems to speed up instead of slow down when we hit that pillow.  We become these night owls and fear closing our eyes.  Why?  Because when we close our eyes that means we no longer have control of our brain and it's going to travel to those places we don't want it to. Here is a tip on how to be able to get better sleep with less nightmares without the use of prescription drugs, self medication or alcohol. Overcoming trauma and/or PTSD is one of the most difficult challenges we will ever face in our life.  The only way to heal from that trauma or PTSD is to battle the symptoms.  This means making small lifestyle changes one at a time that will lead to healing.

Stranger in the Mirror
After a traumatic experience, we realize that the person we see in the mirror isn't the same person.  That person can often feel like a stranger who is taking control of your life and often feels like they're ruining your life.  This stranger can often be very angry and hateful.  We have this whole new set of emotions.   When it comes to trauma, PTSD, PTS or any word you want to call it... we need to first face the fact that the old us is gone.  Secondly, we need to take the time to really learn more about our new selves.  To overcome PTSD or Trauma, we must first learn more about who we are.

Understanding Your Trauma
When we go through negative past experiences it usually more than just us that goes through it.  Our family and the ones closest to us are hugely impacted by how our experiences mold us.  Often times they are the ones who pay the most for the experiences we go through.  We need to understand how this trauma is damaging the relationships around us before we're able to start the process of healing.  Awareness is key.  When we understand just how much our reaction to our past experiences is hurting the ones we love most we'll become more motivated to make a change.     Trauma, Triumph, Overcome, PTSD, Mental Health, Anxiety, Depression, BPD, Traumatic, Life, Story, Stories, Soldier, Military, Veteran, Suicide, Prevention, Past, Divorce, Divorced, Separation, death, grief, grieving
