Springfield police officer heard calling man a "snitch" on Facebook Live
This clip includes the audio from a Facebook Live broadcast posted on Sept. 26, 2018, of an encounter a teen getting arrested had with Springfield police, including Sgt. James Wangard, an award-winning 18-year veteran of the department. Wangard can be heard calling Steve Wells a "snitch." Wells' mother, Toni Wilson, believes she was shot three times five days after the video out of retaliation for her son being called a snitch. SPD has opened an investigation into the incident. The State Journal-Register is only posting only the audio from the Facebook Live video because the video prominently features images of a juvenile teen. The audio also has been edited to remove other names that were mentioned. WARNING: This audio contains foul language. CORRECTION: An initial description of this audio contained the wrong date for when the video was broadcast on Facebook Live.
