This clip includes the audio from a Facebook Live broadcast posted on Sept. 26, 2018, of an encounter a teen getting arrested had with Springfield police, including Sgt. James Wangard, an award-winning 18-year veteran of the department. Wangard can be heard calling Steve Wells a "snitch." Wells' mother, Toni Wilson, believes she was shot three times five days after the video out of retaliation for her son being called a snitch. SPD has opened an investigation into the incident. The State Journal-Register is only posting only the audio from the Facebook Live video because the video prominently features images of a juvenile teen. The audio also has been edited to remove other names that were mentioned. WARNING: This audio contains foul language. We've reached high school football's Week 9, the final week of the regular season. The SJ-R's Ryan Mahan and Bill Welt take a look at some of the predictions out there on how the first round of the playoffs might look. In addition, they preview Week 9's CS8 matchups, which is highlighted by Friday night's Glenwood at Rochester game that will determine if Glenwood wins the conference title outright or has to share it with Rochester.

We're looking ahead to Week 5 of high school football. The marquee game this week is Rochester at SHG, also known as the Leonard Bowl, named after the teams' coaches, the Cyclones' Ken Leonard, and his son, the Rockets' Derek Leonard. For added intrigue, Ken could move into sole possession of first place on the all-time wins list for Illinois high school football coaches. Other CS8 games this week include Jacksonville at Glenwood, Lanphier at Normal U-High, MacArthur at Southeast and Springfield High at Eisenhower.

This weekend is the 30th annual Edwards Place Fine Art Fair held by the Springfield Art Association. We bring on Betsy Dollar, executive director of the SAA, to talk about the fair and a new program called Kid Picks, which is designed to get children more involved and active in art.

Ambulance service in Springfield today is provided by three highly regulated, trained and licensed private companies. However, modernizing the emergency medical response in Springfield came with a few bumps and bruises. The second episode of Digging Springfield tells of the evolution of the ambulance service starting from the early days of funeral homes sending hearses to pick up the injured to the "dirty tactics" of ambulance companies in the '70s to beat out the competition and ending with big events in the '90s that led to an overhaul of Springfield's emergency system.
