Episode 6: Paediatric Blast Injury
Worldwide, one in six children lives in a conflict zone. That's over 350 million globally, and yet we rarely talk about the impact war has on children and the medical care that they need. In this interview Dr Emily Mayhew discusses the Paediatric Blast Injury Partnership, a project set up between Imperial College and Save the Children. So much is still unknown about blast injury and trauma in children: what happens to their injury as they grow, how their treatment should differ from adults or what kind of rehabilitation and psychological care do they need? The Partnership aims to provide resources and people on the ground to better look after children in war zones around the world.
