#82 Vanessa Valentine (music, drugs, health & the world)
Hey folks, welcome to episode number 82 of Foxx on the Wire with our special guess Vanessa Valentine!  Now THIS is an episode I've been looking forward to for a while. I've been aiming to try and get Vanessa on the podcast for a while and I finally got up the courage to ask. What's that saying, you won't know until you ask, right? In her own words Vanessa is an independent musician, ex heroin addict/thug, an adult human female, animal and women's right campaigner. And if I could add to that, she was front-woman of one of my favorite bands a decade ago called 'Valentiine'.  We always aim to have honest conversations on this podcast, and that's exactly what this episode is.  Check out Vanessa's music over at her Bandamp if you haven't heard her tunes you're gonna love them. Don't forget to follow and subscribe to Foxx on the Wire on all the platforms so you don't miss any new episodes. Thank you to Vanessa for coming on the podcast, I look forward to having her on again in the future. You can always WATCH the video version of this episode and many more HERE at Foxx on the Wire YouTube! Thanks folks, don't forget to share if you dig! Craig. 'Acoustic Foxx' acousticfoxx.com.au

#80 Guns N’ Roses infamous 1993 Calder Park raceway show - 30th anniversary boots on the ground report!
Welcome to the Jungle!!! A very special episode coming at you today where we relive the infamous 1993 Guns N' Roses Melbourne Calder Park Raceway show that has gone down in history for many reasons!  On this episode I am joined by singer/songwriter Brett Franke and Engineer/Producer Owner of Incubator Studios Adrian Akkerman who were both at this show 30 years ago and are here to give us their boots on the ground report and tell us about their experience! It’s been 30 years since the 1st of February 1993 when 75,000 rock fans to the trek to Calder Park in the blistering heat to see the biggest rock’n’roll band in the world, Guns N’ Roses who were finally playing Australia once again. Joined by Pearls and Swine, Rose Tattoo and Skid Row support acts. This show was part of the Gigantic Use Your Illusion world tour which ran from Jan 20 1991 to July 17 1993. A total of 194 shows. For those of you tuning into the podcast from overseas Calder Park Raceway is a motor racing circuit in Melbourne holding raceway events, thunderdome and Drag Racing. Located at Keilor, in the north east suburbs of Melbourne, the track began in the 1950s with a pair of motoring enthusiasts who wanted somewhere to race their FJ Holdens, Pat Hawthorn and Jim Houlahan.  "The area later became a saturated and smelling swamp due to the heavy rains and the urine." Disturbing stuff. It could easily be a line lifted from a TV news report covering a natural disaster in some far flung part of the world. The damning assessment was part of a 100-page finding from the Victorian Ombudsman into what is arguably the worst concert ever staged in Australia. It wasn't what happened on stage at Melbourne's Calder Park that had authorities up in arms, but what happened off it.   Check out the Video version of this Podcast over at Foxx on the Wire YouTube! Check out this entertaining 30 year old news report from the show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9AhqVshmDg&t=212s Check out the killer GN'R setlist for this show. Some of you may find this Slash & Duff interview with one of Australia's finest journalists VERY entertaining!!! Thanks for tuning into the podcast folks I really hope you enjoyed this episode. #79 ASHLEY NAYLOR (EVEN) reflects on guitar virtuoso & English rock titan, JEFF BECK.
Hello my friends, coming to you today with a very special episode. I was lucky enough to catch up briefly with one of our favorites on this show, Ashley Naylor while he is out on tour with Australian legendary singer-songwriter Paul Kelly. Hearing about the sad passing of Jeff Beck back on January 10th I knew straight away that I wanted to pay tribute to him on this podcast. I thought who better to help me do this than Ashley Naylor who is one of Australia's most accomplished guitarist, vocalist and songwriter. Whether you know him from Melbourne Rock trio EVEN, Marshmellow Overcoat, or maybe you have seen him play guitar with Paul Kelly, Bob Evans, The Church, or in the Rockwiz house band, The Ronson Hangup and many more.  No doubt Jeff Beck is one of the electric guitar's most prolific innovators, and with a career as sprawling as his we could have easily recorded a massive episode. I want to thank Ashley for his time and insight on this episode. It's always a pleasure having him on Foxx on the Wire. And, thank you Jeff Beck for an amazing career and always pushing the limits on the guitar and being such an innovator - RIP. I hope you all enjoyed this episode check out the video version here at Foxx on the Wire YouTube Channel. See you again soon. Craig 'Acoustic Foxx' acousticfoxx.com.au

#72 Pantera ’Vulgar Display of Power’ 30th anniversary w/ Glenn James
Welcome to a very special episode of the Podcast in which we dedicate it entirely to the 30th anniversary of Pantera's 'Vulgar Display of Power' album. An unrelenting slab of precision riffs and cathartic energy (as described by Loudwire).  I invited a good friend of mine Glenn James and fellow Pantera nut to help pay tribute to such an important album. Vulgar Display of Power is such a monster of an album there's no way I could have done this on my own - it was so much fun with Glenn we had a great time recording this episode as you will hear. Released on Feb 25th 1992 Vulgar Display of Power still stands as the bands highest selling album and was considered as one of the most influential albums of the 90's. In 2017 Rolling Stone ranked Vulgar 10th on their list of the 100 Greatest Metal albums of all time. Check out the video content for this episode and more at Foxx on the Wire YouTube Channel. Hit me up at foxxonthewire@gmail.com and follow me on the socials https://linktr.ee/foxxonthewire Please note that if myself or Glenn get any facts or anything wrong in this episode, we mean no disrespect to Pantera in any way. Chances are when watching documentaries or listening to Pantera over the years we were somewhat under the influence, much like the recording of this episode after shots of the Black Tooth Grin.  We love Pantera thank you for all the years of heavy music and memories. RIP Dime and Vinnie.

#70 Meat Loaf - A Tribute.
Hello my Friends, it's been a little while in between episodes. Lots has been happening over here in my world I hope yours has been healthy and well. It's a bit of a somber occasion with this episode but it's also a celebration of a life that was amazing and lived to it's fullest. We're here today to pay tribute to the one and only, Meat Loaf. Meat Loaf passed away recently on January 20th 2022 in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. It's always hard to squeeze such a gigantic life into one podcast episode but I did my best here and I hope you learn something you didn't already know about Meat Loaf, while researching for this episode I sure did. What an amazing man who wasn't scared to strive for what he loved to do - and that was ROCK!  Thanks for listening and please share if you dig. Hit me up at foxxonthewire@gmail.com with any feedback. "It was a hot summer night and the beach was burning There was a fog crawling over the sand When I listen to your heart I hear the whole world turning I see the shooting stars falling through your trembling hands". ~You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth~ A statement posted by Meat Loaf's family following his passing: Our hearts are broken to announce that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away tonight surrounded by his wife Deborah, daughters Pearl and Amanda and close friends. His amazing career spanned 6 decades that saw him sell over 100 Million albums worldwide and star in over 65 movies, including “Fight Club”, “Focus”, “Rocky Horror Picture Show” and “Wayne’s World.” “Bat Out of Hell” remains one of the top 10 selling albums of all time. We know how much he meant to so many of you and we truly appreciate all of the love and support as we move through this time of grief in losing such an inspiring artist and beautiful man. We thank you for your understanding of our need for privacy at this time. From his heart to your souls…don’t ever stop rocking!

#69 GN‘R ‘Use Your Illusion‘ 30th anniversary w/Brando from Appetite for Distortion Podcast
Attention Guns N' Roses fans! Attention Music fans! We have celebrated a few albums this year on this Podcast that have turned 30 and that's exactly what we are doing for episode #69. In fact, we are celebrating TWO albums that have turned 30 as they were released on the same day September 17th 1991 - Guns N' Roses Use Your Illusion 1 & 2! That's 30 songs and over 150 minutes of kickarse (kickass) rock n' roll from the band who was once described as the most dangerous band in the world. Check out the video version of this Podcast at Foxx on the Wire YouTube Channel. I knew this would be quite the undertaking trying to fit everything surrounding the Use Your Illusion albums into one episode. There's a really cool Podcast I've been listening too over the past couple of years called 'Appetite for Distortion' (New York, USA) which is a Guns N' Roses flavored Podcast. I thought to myself, Brando (the host) sounds like a cool guy maybe I'll reach out to him and see if he wants to join forces and tackle this episode together. He said, yes! So for episode #69 of Foxx on the Wire, two different Podcast's from opposite sides of the world collide. This is truly historic and I'm so glad you could join us. Thank you for tuning in and please share if you dig! https://linktr.ee/foxxonthewire ~Acoustic Foxx~ acousticfoxx.com.au

#67 Temple of the Dog with Todd Burman 30th anniversary
Good morning, good afternoon and/or good evening my friends, and welcome to episode #67 of the Foxx on the Wire Podcast! Today one of our favorite guests Todd Burman from Nashville in the USA makes a huge return to the show to talk about and celebrate the 30th anniversary of one of our all-time favorite albums 'Temple of the Dog'. One of, if not the most important "Grunge" album. Do you agree? During this episode Todd and I go into why that is. Check out the video version of this episode over on my Foxx on the Wire YouTube Channel. Temple of the Dog was conceived by Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell as a tribute to his friend, the late Andrew Wood from Mother Love Bone who died of a heroin overdose in March of 1990. The lineup included Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament (who also did the artwork for the album), Mike McCready and Matt Cameron (Soundgarden and later Pearl Jam) on drums. Eddie Vedder appeared as a guest to provide some lead and backing vocals.  Temple of the Dog was released on April 16, 1991 and initially sold 70,000 copies. By mid 1992 Grunge had already exploded. Soundgarden had released 'Badmotorfinger' and Pearl Jam blew up with their debut album 'Ten'. I really hope you enjoy this episode if you are already a fan of this album and also if your not entirely familiar with this album I hope it makes you want to go and check it out. It holds a very special place in time and in the story of Grunge. Please follow Foxx on the Wire on all the socials so you can keep in touch and keep up to date with the latest episodes! More coming soon, thank you for listening! ~Acoustic Foxx~ acousticfoxx.com.au

#66 Ashley Naylor on Nirvana ‘Nevermind‘ 30th anniversary
Sometimes there just aren't enough words to simply describe what something truly means to you and the impact it made on you and your life. Thankfully we have Ashley Naylor back on the show to help describe the massive impact Nirvana's 'Nevermind' album had on the world and to celebrate it's 30th Anniversary! 'Nevermind' was released on September 24th 1991 (same day as the Red Hot Chili Peppers 'Blood Sugar Sex Magik' - check out episode #65) and would go on to sell 30 million albums over the next 30 years and help change the musical landscape forever. Tom Petty once said "Nirvana was the most significant thing since The Beatles". But it's not just about the album sales it's about how it inspired, and still inspires so many people all over the world. Nevermind is often credited with initiating the resurgence of punk culture among teenagers and young adults of Generation X. It was also responsible in part for bringing Grunge and Alternative Rock Music to the mainstream audience. It's an album that will go down in history as one of the greatest albums ever made. In Jan of 1992 this 3-piece band from Seattle would knock off the King of Pop Michael Jackson from the top of the album charts. Personally I still can't put into words what this album means to me, but I hope you enjoy this tribute episode of the Podcast to Nirvana's 'Nevermind' with one of our great friends of the show, Ashley Naylor from Melbourne's rock trio EVEN. I want to thank Ash for his time. Thank you for listening, you can check out the video version of this episode on the Foxx on the Wire YouTube channel and please subscribe!
