The Founders, Futurists, and Failures podcast takes you on a journey inside entrepreneurial minds. Conor Flynn interviews people in the entrepreneurship space to give you a candid view of their thought processes, startup struggles, and strategic tactics.
The podcast promotes learning from failures, as well as successes, and highlights both best and worst practices in entrepreneurship. As our first guest, Lauren Wilmot, says about Kickstarter campaigns, “take a lot of time to look at other projects, both projects that have been successful and those that have not, because… there is always something to learn.” Lauren’s wisdom on Kickstarter campaigns applies to almost all entrepreneurial endeavors. That is why we are in the business of spreading ideas.
Lauren Wilmot talks about why she decided to start MoodClue and the problem that it solves for kids. She co-founded the company with her mom, who is a seasoned entrepreneur, as well as one of Lauren’s mentors. Lauren was first exposed to entrepreneurship at age 11 when her mom entrusted her with a company credit card and had her ride her bike to the post office to deliver marketing materials.
Additionally, Lauren’s experience as a college cheerleader at the University of Virginia prepared her for a career in entrepreneurship. She developed strong time management skills from balancing her cheerleading, academics, and social life.
When Lauren is not working on her business, she enjoys traveling, as well as living in San Fransisco. She recently visited Cambodia and Thailand, where she went to an elephant sanctuary.
Finally, Lauren concludes the show by explaining the challenges she faces with MoodClue as an early-stage entrepreneur, including time management. She makes a call-to-action for listeners to support her entrepreneurial endeavors by buying MoodClue hangtags for their kids, schools, and teams. People can also get involved by supporting the MoodClue Kickstarter campaign.
We hope that you enjoy enjoy listening to our podcast and getting into the entrepreneurial mindset!
