Miriam Ceh: The Magic of Theatre
After watching Miriam perform numerous times on Melbourne's Bourke Street, I tentatively handed her a written note asking if she'd consider joining me for a chat. Thankfully she replied positively and then found a hot minute to come down to the Victorian College of The Arts to talk art, life and laughter. I hope you find her considered and thoughtful observations of life and creativity as illuminating as I did.
During the conversation, Miriam discusses:
how she 'found' her role as an angel (which she's been performing for over 20 years).
some of the amazing life experiences she's had whilst busking.
the importance of tapping into your imagination.
how to balance meaning making through creativity, identity and work.
the necessity of laughter to life.
It was during our interview that I learnt Miriam had been performing for over two decades, and was a founding member of Kinetic Theatre. Originating on the streets of Fremantle in 1996, Kinetic is now based in Melbourne, Australia, and consists of a versatile troupe of performers whose training includes mime, stage acting, physical theatre, puppetry, improvisation, clowning, and costume design.

Part of the mission behind the creation of the Follow The Magic podcast, is to encourage my listeners into the act of discovery. To allow ourselves to be present and open to inspiration, especially that which comes to us from a place that is perhaps unfamiliar and unexpected, and to permit oneself to follow the intuition that says ‘maybe I don’t understand this, but I can recognise it and it’s affecting me, and I'm curious and open to change.'
