This week we head to Colorado Springs Colorado to chat with Russell Davie. Russell is a Father, Teacher, Champion Wrestler who is living his best life venturing into the Colorado Alpine chasing Golden Trout, Cutthroat, Rainbows and Brookies. We chatted about planning alpine trips, what to pack, patterns, and lessons learned. Chasing beautiful fish in beautiful places, we talked influences, tying, sports, his wrestling career and much more.

In episode 234 of the show we sit down with four members of Team Canada from this past years World Championships. This team featured Colin Huff, Ian Troup, Keefer Pitfield, Chris Krysciak, Byron Sheppard and Ivo Balinov. We covered a lot of ground on this one, from lessons learned, how the average angler can be more productive, competitive tips and tricks, time management and how to effectively fill your fly box.

Today we had to pleasure to chat with Mike Mitchell. Mike is the editor and associate publisher for BC Outdoors Magazine, he is also host of BC Outdoors Sports Fishing TV, runs Mayhem Fly Rods, and has the BC Outdoors Show March 24-26 in Chilliwack BC. Today we sit down with accomplished angler Gary Hanke. Gary has been fly fishing for well over 50 years. He earned the title of Master Fly Tyer, was former team captain for Canada at the World Fly Fishing Championships in Bosnia in 2015 and is also a former guide and fly fishing instructor. Gary runs Fly Life Canada... an on line retailer of fly fishing and fly tying equipment. We had a great chat about Gary's fly fishing journey and what drives his incredible passion for fishing.

Today we sit down with professional fly tyer Travis Rowe. Travis spends a lot of time fly fishing with his good buddy Congo, creating and perfecting his patterns in the interior of BC. We really got a chance to see what motivates Travis both at the bench and on the water. Grateful as always to sit down with such passionate people in the fly fishing space.

This week we head to Black Creek to sit down with Rick Janzen. Rick is an avid outdoorsman, guide, fly fisher and fly tyer who is a joy to chat with. He has been chasing trout, steelhead and salmon for many years on Vancouver Island and beyond. We find out what fly fishing has brought to his world, we learn about the Tyee Club, talk teaching, guiding, sports, tying and much more, thanks Rick for sharing your story with us.

Today we head to Tulsa Oklahoma to chat with Cris Jackson owner/builder at Lone Bison Fly Tying Tables. Cris is making some one of a kind fly tying tables. His tables have been featured in Forbes Magazine, Fly Tyer Mag and Flyfisherman Mag. We talk about his tables, his fly fishing story, his career as an educator, baseball scout and much more. This week we sit down with Jesse Martineau, Jesse is a father to five boys, Video Creator, Podcaster and avid flyfisher. He has a sports podcast called the Me and Jesse Podcast with good friend Mark Pavelich. We cover a lot of ground on this one from still water, social media, mental health and living an all- in life. We talk patterns, teams, tunes and much more.

This week we talk to two members of Canada's first Womens National Fly Fishing team. Kathy Ruddick and Collette Stroud join us talk all things fins and comps. The team was selected recently following comps in BC. We talk about Kathy's fly fishing story and what being on this special team means to these ladies. We talk patterns, lessons learned on and off the water and how fly fishing has impacted their journeys.

This week we re visit our 2020 sit down with Steelhead guru Lani Waller. Lani has pursued Steelhead and trout all over the world. He was inducted into the fly fishing hall of fame in 1997. In this episode Lani told us of his near death experience on the Babine River, his many incredible stories with a fly rod and how important it is that we protect these fish.

This week we had to good fortune to sit down with Cameron Coates. Cam is from Chase BC and has a passion for the outdoors, chasing Bighorn Sheep, Still water Trout, Carp and Cougars. He is a guide with Legacy Bighorn and spent a lifetime chasing trout on the still. He is a proud member of the Secwepemc people and sat down to share his passion for the outdoors with us. This week we were happy to sit down and chat fly fishing with Martha Leeming. Martha is originally from Colombia, she picked up fly fishing in the UK, competed with the English fly fishing team and now finds herself chasing fins in Canada and beyond. She worked several years for Orvis and now spends her time fly fishing both competitively and recreationally. She is extremely passionate about the pastime and brings an infectious energy to the water. Thanks Martha for sharing your story with us!

Today we sit down with Author Malachy Tallack. His new book titled Illuminated by Water is out this Month. Malachy really captures the allure of fly fishing and fly tying in his latest book. He talks about this passion we share, the relationship between water and people and about the allure of fly fishing. This book really spoke to us at the podcast and Malachy has an amazing ability to engage the reader and take you to the beautiful places he continues to write about. He is also a singer/songwriter and has written other books including "Sixty Degrees North" and "The Valley at the Center of the World."

Today we had the good fortune of sitting down with Derek Bird. Derek is the Founding editor at Fly Fusion Magazine, Co-host of the popular Fly Fusion Series, and Author of the new novel "Last Summer On The Sage." Derek gave us the inside scoop on his fly fishing story, his passion for chasing trout in the Rocky Mountains, his love of writing, teaching, music, sports and much more. Derek has inspired so many to take to the stream, through his writing and story telling. We shared a few laughs and some great stories on this one.

Today on the show we were grateful for a sit down with Jim McLennan. Jim was one of the first guides on the Bow River, has authored 5 books, written for many a magazine, was co-owner of Calgary's first fly shop, worked for Orvis and runs regular fly fishing schools. He actually shared the river with Roderick Haig Brown, wrote for BC Outdoors for many years and the Vancouver Province, his first article was published in 1958. Retired from the Ministry of Forests. Ian shares his fly fishing journey with us, we talk motorcycles, water colors, Johnny Cash, Steelhead, trout, Kingfishers, FlyBC and much more.
