Annie Margarita, a Pioneer Woman
Fly Fishing Angler, leather artist, painter, muralist, Marine Veteran, interior designer, and so much more. Annie has had a life rich in the fly fishing community and the creative arts. Her work is stunningly beautiful and her story is full of adventure. Thanks Annie, we loved talking with you. Guest: Annie Margarita Email: firstname.lastname@example.org Phone: 541-215-2022 Websites: AnnieMargarita.com FlyGirlLeather.com Social Media: Facebook YouTube Bio: Annie has been a professional artist since 1993 when she got out of the Marine Corps and went to Florida to work in the theme parks as a scenic artist. Working all over the U.S., Portugal and Holland building aquarium, museum and zoo exhibits, she got injured in Holland, so she went back to Tucson, her hometown, to recover from her injuries. While she was recuperating she started her own mural company which later lead to a degree in Interior Design and a contracting company for paint, custom plaster and murals. She expanded her company in Colorado, but went back to Tucson in 2008, when she joined up with local fly shop Drycreek Outfitters and the gentlemen there got her into Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing. She learned to cast better, tie flies, and build a fly rod, which then lead her to want to build a fly rod case out of leather. Annie found that leather was her favorite medium and started creating cases, handbags and other accessories. She started selling her products online which allowed her the freedom to pack up everything, buy an RV and took off out of Tucson to find all the rivers that she dreamed about. After about a year and a half, she went to Pendleton, Oregon for it’s annual leather convention. She dug in and opened a gallery leather store on Main Street, then the Veteran’s Administration granted her another shot at earning a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon. Bert de Klerk at McKenzie River Inn, on the mighty McKenzie River in Nimrod, Oregon, home of the Drift Boat, offered her an Artist in Residence position while she attended school. She has a double major in Cinema Studies and Art & Technology Animation and graduated in December 2019. Annie also teaches leather working, fine art painting and online mural classes with ThePaintHive.com, operating her studio at the former inn. Jill Holland Turns Trout Pottery
It all started innocently enough when Jill’s sister asked for some of Jill’s pottery pieces for a silent auction. The custom designed pottery with designs of trout and flies quickly took off. We talk to Jill today about her artwork and how she crafts her designs which are useful and functional. Meet Jill Holland, owner and potter of Twinkle Tree Pottery. Guest: Jill Holland Website: twinkletreepottery.com Social Media: Facebook Instagram Bio: Growing up in Little Rock, Arkansas, one of my favorite memories was doing ceramics with my Mom, other family members and neighbors, around our kitchen table. During my college years, I had the privilege of spending a year in Japan as an exchange student, where my interest in pottery was reignited. Fast forward about 30 years when my sweet husband gave me a gift certificate for a pottery lesson to learn how to throw on the wheel. From then on, I was hooked! For the next ten years, I’ve continued to learn, practice, and create. Today, I can most often be found in my studio in the basement of our home, doing what I love to do. Nowadays, my husband of 37 years and I enjoy our home on five acres in Castle Rock, Colorado, with a gorgeous view of the Rocky Mountains from our back deck (and from my studio). We are empty-nesters who enjoy working on DIY projects together, and singing in our church choir. We have two sons and daughters-in law in Texas and Oklahoma, and 3 of the most incredible grandchildren on the planet! This is Fly Girl Fish episode 043, first aired on 07/01/2020.

Kara Schuett is Yellow Sally
Kara Schuett is a fly-fishing angler, guide, and founder of Yellow Sally Women & Girls’ Fly-Fishing Clothing & Accessories. Kara began operating a drift boat and guiding anglers in her home state of Montana. She has continued to grow Yellow Sally offering women and girls a selection of great fishy clothes! Meet Kara Schuett of Yellow Sally. Guest: Kara Schuett Website: www.yellowsallyfishing.com Email: firstname.lastname@example.org Social Media: Facebook Instagram Bio: Starting from childhood, Kara has been passionate about all things outdoors, especially fishing. While her love for nature began while growing up in the mountains of Idaho, her entrancement with fly fishing struck hard after moving to southwest Montana in her early 20s. She spent countless hours learning the uniqueness of each river and honing her craft. Being a fishing guide is not for the weak or weary, although sometimes it can leave you feeling exactly that way. A couple years into guiding, Kara found herself underwhelmed with the selection of outdoor fishing apparel for women and girls. There was a gap that needed to be filled in the industry. Women and girls deserved need to be represented in this industry. A spark was lit. Fast forward through years of thinking, researching, and planning and we get to the launch of Yellow Sally, a fly-fishing clothing line for women and girls. When she is not out on the water spreading the joy of the outdoors to beginning and seasoned anglers alike, Kara is working hard to develop functional, high quality fishing and outdoor wear.
