Emmett Drueding: Tightrope Walker
Disclaimer: While Rev has played in Emmett's band for the past few years the songs performed here are not part of Emmett's regular band set and were brand new to Rev on the day of recording! In this, our pilot episode, Rev sits down with Philly based songwriter and performer, Emmett Drueding. Their conversation addresses performing in a COVID-19 world and how performers can adapt. They address the influence of Emmett's father, the late Richard Drueding and his collaborations with Jim Hamilton and Tom Gala. Emmett explains his love of Paul McCartney and his issues with Bob Dylan. As more cocktails are imbibed the more the stories flow (cocktail recipe below) so sip your drink and listen to learn of Emmett's worst public performance, his least favorite sound and who would be his dream collaboration. They even have time to tell a few jokes before jumping into the Pivot Questionnaire. The two will take step away from the interview to jam on three songs composed by Emmett: Space Dust, Lost My Shoes (on the Dance Floor) and Smile in addition to the Tom Gala classic, Witch Hazel. During the interview they are enjoying the episode's signature cocktail, "The Tightrope Walker", crafted by beverage genius Liz Aubry. Here is how to make your own at home:Tightrope Walker Cocktail- fill rocks glass with ice- add 3 oz Rye or Bourbon (bourbon will be sweeter)- 2 dashes Peychaud's bitters- 1 oz REAL maple syrup- 3 oz cayenne Kombucha- fresh squeezed grapefruit juiceWant to support this and future episodes?
