Our final installment for Mona May MAY is Enchanted! Mona absolutely killed it with the magical gowns worn by Amy Adams as Princess Giselle in this animation turned live-action Disney fairytale. For Mona May-MAY, we're doing Vamps, the 2012 movie about two BFF "vegetarian" vampires (played by Alicia Silverstone and Krysten Ritter) who spend their days, er, nights going to goth clubs in New York. It is a lesser-known film...but the reunion between director Amy Heckerling, Silverstone, and Mona May since Clueless! Other topics in this episode include the Netflix series Halston, Cruel Summer, a wild tangent where Marie gets four different white comedian men confused and how we went to Target and Starbucks for the first time in over a year. My Cousin Vinny
It’s finally here! The most popular listener request: My Cousin Vinny! We got so many requests for this movie over the years, we had to give it to the Fishies! This 1992 comedy stars Joe Pesci as a lawyer from Brooklyn who tries to help two “youts” when they get accused for murder in tha South. We get why you wanted us to do this one. THE LOOKS ARE ALIVE! Marisa Tomei’s outfits are poppin’ in every scene. However, let's not sleep on Mista Gambini himself — he’s got some good ones too! Hello, gothic cowboy daddy! We discuss Her iconic floral jumpsuit, pink Sony Cybershot cameras, Britney Spears’s favorite cheesy grits...Pet Semetary 2 (again), and more. Costumes by Carol Wood. We're celebrating our THIRD anniversary today with one of our all-time favorites, Freeway! The 1996 cult film stars Reese Witherspoon as a white trash Little Red Riding Hood who's trying to make it to her grandma's house when she goes head-to-head with a serial killer. It's trashy, violent, and incredibly offensive, but worth it to see Reese in the role of her life! The costumes (by Merrie Lawson) are scarce, but it's quality over quantity — they bring us right back to growing up as teens in SoCal. We discuss our love for Dickie's overalls (again), Sanrio wallets, seatbelt-belts, Eddie Furlong's Cameo, Blaire's piercing mishap, and the time Marie rolled over on top of John Stamos's Hollywood Walk of Fame star. Imagine a pair of jeans that automatically adapts to your shape...but actually wants to KILL you. That's the plot of Slaxx, a new horror movie about some literal killer...jeans. This isn't your typical Fishnet Flix film, meaning there aren't many outfits to talk about — but you know we love horror ova here, AND it's a movie about some murderous denim so we had to watch it! Promising Young Woman
We’ve got sumthin’ a little different this week. It’s a heavy, dark, revenge flick, but we PROMISE it’s a good one. The recently Oscar-nominated movie, Promising Young Woman, stars Carey Mulligan as Cassandra, a woman who goes out to a different bar or club each night, pretends to get completely knock-down, blackout drunk with the purpose of luring a “nice guy” to take her home. At first, you don’t think this is going to be a “costume movie,” but it's interesting how Cassandra dresses up in different “disguises'' whenever she's on the prowl — a sharp contrast to the pastel sweaters and dresses she wears during the daytime. Costumes are by Nancy Steiner who did Lost in Translation, The Virgin Suicides, and a ton more. Tune in now! Carter (Black Panther, B.A.P.S.), so you know there’s not a bad look in sight. We talk about our fave outfits, all the gold and animal-themed jewelry we’re adding to cart, and how we’ve come a long way since we started the pod (particularly, Blaire’s online shopping habit). Romeo + Juliet
Where were you when you first saw Claire Danes and Leonardo DiCaprio lock eyeballs through the fish tank in Romeo + Juliet? Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 adaptation of the Shakespearean teenage tragedy is a hyper-stylized fever dream that we’re STILL obsessing over 25 years later. Costume designer Kym Barrett (The Matrix trilogy, Us, Aquaman) put Danes in those iconic angel wings while dressing the rival Montague and Capulet boy-gangs in a perfect contradiction of Hawaiian shirts and D&G. The movie, the costumes, and the soundtrack still hold up. Notes & Mentions: Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel doc on Netflix Fishnet Flix February Playlist

Waiting To Exhale
Today’s episode is on Waiting to Exhale, the Terry McMillan-novel-turned-1995 film starring the late, great Whitney Houston, alongside Angela Bassett, Lela Rochon, and Loretta Devine as four friends living in Phoenix Arizona, looking for love in alllll the wrong f***boys. It’s a movie filled with as many irresistible lines as there are costumes — from designer Judy L. Ruskin (Sleepless in Seattle, Bruce Almighty) that are somehow both timeless and deliciously ’90s at the same time. We won’t blame you if you start quoting the movie nonstop (esp. Bernadette's fire-setting monologue), or listen to the iconique soundtrack (which was produced by Babyface, and features Brandy, SWV, and, of course, Whitney) all week long. We also discuss whether or not we should give The Wedding Planner another chance... Notes & Mentions: 1996 LA Times interview with Judy Ruskin Oral History of Waiting to Exhale on Zora Great piece on the costumes by Tarisai Ngangura for Jezebel "Sittin' Up in My Room" Music video by Brandy for the film's soundtrack For visuals of the costumes, follow us on Instagram at @fishnetflixpod DM or email your movie requests at email@example.com!

We’re kicking off Valentine’s month with the moment we’ve all been waiting for, an episode on True Romance, the 1993 Tarantino-scripted, Tony Scott-directed film about a comic book nerd and a call girl who fall in love and go on the run. Yes, we see Gary Oldman with his locs, leopard print robe, and Jamaican patois, but Patricia Arquette rocks Every. Single. Damn. Look. as Alabama Worley. The cute, quirky, fun, and timeless costumes are by Susan Becker (The Lost Boys! Father of the Bride!). We also get into a lot of fun tidbits about the movie, try to guess Alabama’s zodiac sign, and uncover some exciting news about that heart jacket we talked about in our past episode on Jennifer’s Body. For visuals of the costumes, follow us on Instagram at @fishnetflixpod DM or email your movie requests at firstname.lastname@example.org! Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure
You know we couldn’t end Keanuary without Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure! While this 1989 movie may not be known for its costumes (especially as it takes place over just one day) the Bill and Ted look is easily recognizable, fun, and dare we say, relevant? The cropped sweatshirt look is definitely in these days, hello, Bill S. Preston, Esquire. Costumes are by Jill M. Ohanneson (Six Feet Under, Revenge, Preacher). In this episode, we talk about how a fashion historian uses the brief Beethoven scene as a benchmark for all Regency-era movies and debate whether or not teens still use binders. Also, Blaire realizes she’s never seen the 1993 erotic thriller, Sliver. For visuals of the costumes, follow us on Instagram at @fishnetflixpod DM or email your movie requests at email@example.com!
