FiredUp - Ep 95 - COVID Vaccine Updates, Infrastructure and More!
In our weekly Covid review, we speak to the fact that the US is starting to see the effects of vaccinations and safe health practices in the form of reductions in the rates of infection, hospitalization and deaths. We're not anywhere near being out of the woods yet, nut its progress. In the political arena, one of our frequent subjects, FL Gov Desantis is back in the news as he is being sued over holding 3 Legislative seats, one State and two Congressional, unfilled for more that 75 days. The three districts are all majority Black communities. Surprised??? In Texas, battles are on-going over infrastructure issues such as the electric grid status as we approach winter. At the federal level, huge battles continue over the two infrastructure bills proposed by the Biden administration. Democrats run the government, and hold most of the blame for not exercising the control they have. No lessons learned from the Obama era and what happened when they lost the house and senate? The Biden administration is also taking heat for a proposal within the $3.2T Soft Infrastructure bill that would mandate Banks to report all monthly cash flows in and out of individual bank accounts. Finally, we take a brief look at Polls and how they work as we enter into the political season ahead of the Mid-Terms.

Firedup Ep 94 - Redistricting, Debt Ceiling, and a 3rd Political Party
On this episode of FiredUp, we look at preliminary maps for Redistricting in Michigan and Virginia where non-partisan committees devolved into partisan results. We explore an alternative approach to growing a 3rd political party involving a coalition of the Asian, Hispanic and Black Caucuses of the House and Senate. If these groups would band together and vote as a unified group, the Democrat and Republican domination of the political agenda could be blunted. What do we need to do to end the games played around the Debt Ceiling? a hard look at partisan politics and brinksmanship that's hurting America. And an update on the Texas Abortion ban as court battles start up.

This week on FiredUp, the discussion will examine Employer mandates for vaccination and employees saying they will quit is required. But do they? Also we will look at two lawsuits filed in Texas against the Doctor who performed a post 6-week abortion intentionally flouting the new Texas ban. The bigger question is who filed the suits? Did you think we were finished with Redistricting? Nope, just getting started. We examine the effects of the shift in population over the decade and how that might shake up the map math. Finally, Steve has an editorial opinion on political games, gridlock and what we must do about it.

Ep 92 - Crisis of Care, COVID Variants, Justice for J6 and More
This week on FiredUP Steve will discuss a story coming out of Idaho that could spell trouble with receiving care for any acute illness. Idaho has implemented a Crisis of Care standing where patients are ranked to receive ICU care and ventilators based on their age, condition and other factors. It means that some might not receive critical care and some will. We will also uncover additional variants of Covid that could extend the pandemic and may not be fully resolved by the current vaccines. On the political side, Steve reviews the event held on the 18th, the "Justice for J6" rally in Washington DC and how it fell short of expectations. What is a Trillion Dollar coin and how do some think it could solve the Debt Ceiling crisis that could hit in mid-October? Steve will explore this radical proposal. Finally, Steve looks at the coming redistricting plans from Republican and Democrat states and what it means for control of the House. Catch new content from FiredUp every Monday at 5:30pm

Aside from the weekly Covid update, Steve is devoting this show to a discussion of the just passed Texas SB-8 bill which not only imposes severe restrictions on abortion rights in the Lone Star state, but empowers citizens to essentially be deputized to sue providers, as well as those individuals that assist a woman seeking an abortion particularly if it is beyond a so-called "fetal heartbeat" threshold of six weeks. Steve will be looking at some of the impacts of this bill as well as what it portends for future legislation in Texas and other states on abortion and other constitutionally protected activities.
