Go Get your own balloon!
This week we discuss the famous " Man in the Arena" speech from Theodore Roosevelt and the incredible relevance it still carries today about how others will sometimes try to downplay or ridicule the goals and work of others in order to make themselves feel better about their lack of courage, meaning, fortitude, or belief.  Instead of popping someones balloon,  go find your own!

Strength and Comfort
We are back after an unintentional hiatus! We take a look at how Strength and hardness is needed to build, protect, and fortify, and softness can be used to create comfort and "feelings" of safety.  Ultimately we need both,  but it is our job to balance What we seek, and when.  Memento Mori is much darker when you forget the other half which is Memento Vivere.  As always,  We believe balance is the ultimate discipline.  Enjoy!

Don’t fear the friendzone!
Good Discussion about the upside of being "Friendzoned" and how excommunicating people who care about you for not being romantically interested in you can be incredibly detrimental to your life in the long run because of the amount of valuable relationships you can lose by thinking like a caveman,  Chime in and let us know what you think!

Making intentional choices
This week we start out with a discussion on the dangers of selling a "quick fix" for vulnerable people looking to learn self defense.  Also covered is the idea of either living with your choices and being happy, or changing the things you prioritize to get different results rather than complaining about the consequences of choices that we made on our own for ourselves.  Do what makes you happy. Control what you can control.

Sit with it.
On this episode we talk about how toughness is a choice that is made every single day, telling yourself the truth in relation to your capabilities and goals, and understanding that feelings are meant to be FELT, not discarded, discredited, demonized or avoided.  We talk about how our loved ones make sacrifices for us in telling us what we don' want to hear, and better ways to deal with negative feelings, self talk, or explosive emotions.  Thanks for helping us make it to 101 episodes.  WE LOVE YOU.

Love your friends.
Today we talk about a philosophical question of friendship.  Do you LOVE your friends?  If not, should you find new friends? Or, should you work on BEING a better friend?  Balancing ego and accountability cant be hard, but if you can't be happy for your friends,  something is missing.  We hope to help you find friends that you can not help but love.

What can JiuJitsu teach you about loving yourself?
Brief solo episode about my thoughts on a recent social media encounter and some of the underlying reasons why it may have gone the way it did.  I'll talk about my opinion on why the saying "misery loves company" seems so fitting and true in these types of exchanges and how realizing where a person is coming from can help you at least feel empathy for their situation.  The second half is a realization I had in explaining the importance grip breaking and gi training to a beginner student and how that relates to removing the obstacles that stop us from understanding our true value and distort our perception of ourselves.  I hope you enjoy, and i hope this helps anyone who may be struggling to love yourself.  Have a great week!

Is virtue dying?
Today's episode is pointed, passionate and probably gonna piss some people off.  Although we find ourselves in times of grave government overstep and dismantling of freedoms across the world,  many of us are too busy being mad at each other about things we are told to feel by politicians.  The hypocrisy of global politicians is no longer something to avoid talking about.  Most of us don't trust politicians, or politics?  So why do we let them tell us how we should feel?  Why do we allow them to separate us, and cost us our mental health, friendships, relationships and sometimes more?  Hypocrisy is something that we explore to see if it is possible to be virtuous and a hypocrite at the same time?  We hope you will listen to this episode in its entirety and are happy and willing to have open dialogue with anyone out there about the times we are in.  More than ever.  we need LOVE, we need consistency, we need virtue.  We must not let true virtue die.  Let's talk!

Solutions expose excuses
Evan and Joel had a great time discussing the relationship between reasons youre unable to do something over time, and how a legitimate reason that is keeping you from your goals today, becomes an excuse as time passes and it remains unresolved.  We offer a strategy to deal with the sometimes overwhelming feelings of fear and imposter syndrome that can creep in when we are challenging ourselves to pursue something far outside of our comfort zone.  " If you don't sacrifice for what you want, then what you want becomes the sacrifice."

A Jack of all trades?
Today we discuss the give and take relationship between being either " A jack of all trades" or top level elite at one specific thing and the sacrifices that you will need to make no matter which path you choose, how to decide who to invite to your wedding, and why Evan half way reads a lot of books.  Enjoy!

Imagining Sisyphus Happy
The Story of Sisyphus is not the happiest or most heartwarming story,  but the value of understanding the stoic Principle of controlling what you can, when you can, where you can, cant be overstated.  In life,  we all have a different rock to push.  Often times,  the act of choosing to do this with a positive attitude will lead us to where we hope to be. Evan and Joel have a great discussion about how being "humble",  can lead to us having a hard time believing that we are valuable and capable enough to live a meaningful fulfilling life through our work.  The opposite of Nihilishm is Gratitude,  and we hope this discussion will help you believe in yourself and take the first step toward living your best possible life.

Nothing without Nuance, Lost Without Love
This week we talk about the damage being done to our society with the black and white mentality, ostracizing of people who don't fit into a specific mold and the disappearing of nuanced, meaningful conversations between people on some of the biggest issues facing us right now.  The power of love is not in the ability to always agree or never be unhappy with one another.  The power of love is that it persists.  The power of love is that it can bring us together without us all having to agree about everything.  We need Nuance in our Thinking,  but more than anything, we need LOVE.
