WARRIOR WELLNESS AND LIFEWORLDS WITH REV.MIKE KIM 5/28/17
Tune in to tonight's show at 9pm Est. WARRIOR WELLNESS AND LIFEWORLDS WITH REV.MIKE KIM IS HONORED TO PRESENT: JIM RITTERHOFF Force Blue began as a dream two years ago when myself, Recon Marine Veteran Rudy Reyes and our third partner, Keith Sahm, took a dive trip together and realized that, if we could somehow build a program that would unite the community of Special Operations veterans with the world of marine scientists and conservationists, we could indeed impact both for the better. “Giving warriors a cause and a cause its warriors” became our mantra. The idea is that if we can give these highly skilled and trained combat divers a new, positive mission…something that might be missing from their civilian lives…we can perhaps rekindle their sense of purpose and desire to serve. At the same time, we can use these highly regarded, highly respected warriors to bring a whole new voice to the marine conservation movement – and with that voice, a whole new audience of people who currently are not engaged. Now, 23 months after that first dive, we’ve just come back from our first deployment, which included two Recon Marines, a U.S. Navy Seal, an army Green Beret, an Air Force Pararescue Jumper, a British Royal Marine and an Army Combat Medic. It was an experience that exceeded all our expectations. And it gave us the proof of concept we need to attract the sort of donors and sponsors we believe can turn FORCE BLUE into an international force for good. On Tuesday, June 6th at 7:00 p.m. on the campus of NYU in New York, we’ll be screening “Mercy, Love & Grace: The Force Blue Story” a documentary filmed during our deployment. We encourage all your listeners to join us and support this incredibly timely and important mission. https://forceblueteam.org/ http://www.vetrs.com/syndicate-n

Lou Eisenbrandt is my guest this week. Lou Served as an Army Nurse in Vietnam, most of that time spent at the Chu Lai Army hospital, right next to the South China Sea. We will discuss Lou's book, Vietnam Nurse: Mending and Remembering, which is about her experience in Vietnam and afterwards, her transition and reflections on her experience. Lou saw it all, the waves of casualties, the puddles of blood, the Montagnard orphans, the soldiers who did not want to go back into the bush and the soldiers who could not wait to rejoin their unit and buddies. What preparation did the Army give Lou? What were the hospitals like? Where there really puddles of blood? What is a Montagnard? Were there any good time? If she was by the South China Sea, did they have access to a beach, surfing, water skiiing? What kinds of relationships did did people form in situations like that? Listen in and find out the answers to these and other questions that you don't even yet know that you have.

My podcast guests this week will be Bob Barnett, Kansas City project leader for Healing Waters, and Mike Davis, OIF Veteran and Healing Water participant, and Bruce Storts, Vietnam Vet and Healing Waters volunteer. Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc.™ is dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and disabled veterans through fly fishing and associated activities including education and outings. How can fishing benefit disabled veterans? And what is the difference between fly fishing and regular, bait-casting fishing? And which type of trout is more therapeutic, Brook Trout, German Browns or Rainbow Trout? Is there such thing as a "service trout"? And what is all this business about fly tying? What kind of sick bastard would want to tie up a tiny, defenseless fly? Sounds like a weird fetish to me. And where does Healing Waters operate? Oh, and how the heck do I get involved? Ever since seeing the movie “A River Runs Through It” I have wanted to stand in a river and cast fly-line loops big enough to fly a plane through. Listen in and find out the answers to all these and any other questions.

My guest tonight will be AJ Powell, veteran and sociologist, pilot and diver, mechanic, photographer, researcher and extreme athlete. Our kind of guy. AJ will be telling us about his Lessons Learned project for which he is collecting veteran stories. We will also talk about leadership, upon which much of AJ's research is focused. Veterans have unique leadership skills and experiences. This has always been the case. Veteran leadership transformed American business and markets after World War 2. We will also talk about the classic stigmas and social indifferences that veterans must contend with. What kind of stories is AJ looking for? How was business transformed after World War 2? Do all veterans and MOS's possess leadership skill sets? What stigmas and indifferences are you refering to? Isn't a stigma a mark or wound related to the Crucifixion? No, wait, that is stigmata. I'm so confused, Mother. That's OK, listen in tonight and it all will be made clear.

GUARDIAN TALK WITH BRAD AND JOE 4/15/17
TUNE INTO SATURDAY NIGHTS SHOW AT 8PM EST. CALL IN AND ASK QUESTIONS AT 646-716-8075 GUARDIAN TALK WITH BRAD AND JOE IS HONORED TO PRESENT:DERRICK STORMS AND DAVID LUCIER Derrick Storms served in the Marine Corps as an infantryman and Reconnaissance Marine. While deployed in the Iraq War he operated in a Recon team. Upon being honorably discharged, Mr. Storms obtained a law degree and currently represents veterans in a variety of issues. In his practice, Mr. Storms has discovered an unsettling "culture of corruption" where VA officials routinely abuse their power and mistreat veterans. In these instances, Mr. Storms holds VA "evil doers" accountable for their misconduct. Unfortunately, legislatures and executive officials are not taking the VA's misconduct seriously. Mr. Storms is seeking to make serious political changes to the corrupt VA system, and other government agencies, to hold unscrupulous government employees accountable for mismanagement, waste, and abuse of power. David Lucier entered the US Army from St. Louis, MO in 1967 at the age of 19. He successfully completed basic training; advance airborne infantry training, parachute training, and Special Forces training as a weapons and medical specialist. In late 1968, Mr. Lucier volunteered and was assigned to a special operations “A-Team” with the II Corps Mobile Strike Force which was responsible for interdicting men and material traversing the Ho Chi Minh Trail in the triborder area. Mr. Lucier was decorated for both valor and meritorious service. Upon separation from service, he attended ASU and graduated with honors in 1974. After a career in telecommunication finance and real estate, and then shortly after 9-11-01, Mr. Lucier went to work for the Department of Defense as a Security Contractor in Iraq from 2003 to 2005 and worked for the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force – Afghanistan in 2008.

(I’ve seen The Matrix many times and that makes me a little nervous.) And just what the heck is a “vetrepreneur”? (Sounds like a word my doctor would use.)
