In this episode, Shepard Merritt and I sit down to discuss the importance of Biblical male leadership in a family unit, and postulate reasons why the Devil hates the father's leadership role in the home. Here are two reasons the Devil hates male leadership: (1) All institutions need an authority, and without authority there is anarchy. The Devil loves anarchy. Look at any institution worth its salt. There is a hierarchy of leadership with a final authority that makes tough decisions. The father is the final authority in the home by God's design. The Devil hates this because when it is Biblical male leadership, it is very effective, efficient, and functional. (2) Male leadership is strong by God’s design; it is a bulwark to evil. We know this because God has designed men to be physically strong. Men have more testosterone which makes them more aggressive. So when a male faces evil, they can fight back with a powerful force. The Devil is scared of masculine, aggressive leadership that stands on truth. On the flip side, the strengths of male leadership, when not fueled by the Gospel, can become the weaknesses of male leadership. Can anything be objectively and absolutely morally wrong from a godless worldview? Without being made in the image of God, can one reason from what "is" (biology) to how we "ought" to act? In this episode, I breakdown the moral argument as presented by various theists and Christian apologists, and analyze if a godless worldview can objectively ground morality. The moral argument goes like this: Premise #1: If God does not exist, then objective moral values and duties do not exist. Premise #2: Objective moral values and duties do exist. Conclusion: God exists. I also go into some of the most common objections to the Moral Argument for God's existence, such as, if objective morality exists, then why do people disagree so often about what's right? I also discuss an insightful quote from C.S. Lewis, “My argument against God was that the universe seemed so cruel and unjust. But how had I got this idea of just and unjust? A man does not call a line crooked unless he has some idea of a straight line. What was I comparing this universe with when I called it unjust?” We know that the moral law exists because we constantly are judging actions as right or wrong according to it. We may not have every nuance figured out yet, but in a general sense, we know that some things are absolutely wrong, and others are absolutely right. In this episode, I break down the youtube video of Progressive Christian YouTuber and pastor, Colby Martin. He argues that since the Bible is a "translation of a translation of a translation," we cannot know for sure what the original author's message really was in the biblical text. He also claims that since there are so many "contradictions" in the Bible, it cannot be trusted. Another assertion he makes is that since one Greek word often can be translated in different ways, that it is nearly impossible to know for sure how it is to be translated. This low and skeptical view of Scripture is common to those submerged in Progressive Christianity, a virus of the Faith that is taking hold of many believers who are more liberal in temperament and politics. In this video, I sit down with Global Vagrant (the YouTuber who reviews countries/attractions all over the world), to discuss the concept of truth. Does truth exist in an absolute sense? Or is truth relative? Can we determine truth for ourselves? If I identify as something, does that mean I am that thing? It is really important to understand that many secular life philosophies and perspectives are self-defeating. They may claim to be based on relativism, but they cannot be true if they are. For example, if someone says all truth is relative", then they are actually lying. Because if truth is relative, then that statement is relative, meaning it cannot be taken to be true, which would mean it is false. And if that statement is false, then all truth is absolute, which is what the Christian faith and other religious folk have been saying for centuries. Tune in for a very interesting discussion. In this episode, I discuss the Central Dogma of Molecular Biology, which is the observation that all living things have DNA, RNA and Protein, and that DNA codes for RNA, and RNA codes for Protein. This "DNA -> RNA -> Protein" system undergirds all living things on Earth. The question is this: Could this system come about by random chance in the prebiotic soup of the early Earth? Assuming there were plenty of DNA nucleotides floating around, could they come together to form a small, 300 nucleotide, meaningful piece of DNA? Also, if all the necessary amino acids were present, could they slam together and form a meaningful/functional protein in a reasonable amount of time? Let's explore some of the probability calculations provided by Dr. Stephen C. Meyer, a former geophysicist and philosopher of science, who has looked at this system extensively. This is Part 2 of 3 Bad KJV Only Arguments. In this second half of my podcast, I discuss three ungrounded arguments that are often presented by King James Onlyists (AKA the KJV Onlyism movement). The first argument is the supposed conflation of Jesus and the Devil in how modern translations render the word Latin word "lucifer" (and the Hebrew word "helel") at Isaiah 14:12; which makes Jesus and the Devil both described as a "morning star", which has led some who read these passages purposefully out of context to conclude that the modern translations are saying that Jesus fell from Heaven, an understanding that no one has organically gained from reading the text as the original author's wrote it. The second argument is how most modern translations have a different reading at 1 John 5:7, with a footnote stating what the majority of manuscripts and most reliable manuscripts say in that section. The third argument is how Acts 8:37 is either "missing" from modern translations, or put in brackets with a footnote stating the manuscript issues with the KJV reading. All of these arguments, if investigated, point to the higher accuracy of the NASB and ESV, especially with the study Bible versions, when compared the King James Version. However, these are still areas of controversy that are highly debated within the KJV-Only NIFB movement. It is my hope that Christians have a defendable, reasonable, and practical faith based on truth. In this video, I discuss the King James Only movement, focusing on how we should judge Bible translations. All Bible translations should be judged on how accurately they depict the original writings of the authors of the Bible, not on how close they resemble the King James Version. There are several good and honest modern Bible translations, such as the NASB, ESV, and NKJV, all of which are bizarre targets of KJV-Only argumentation. However, if you investigate the claims of KJV-Onlyists, they are demonstrably false and misleading. I discuss a problem with the KJV translation: the Romans 13:9 vs. Matthew 19:18 mistake where the same Greek word is translated as "murder" in one passage, and "kill" in another. With identical context, the words should be translated identically: this is a simple translation mistake; however, those fully encamped in the KJV-Only movement must perform mental gymnastics to explain how this is not a simple error. In this video, I (Daniel Faucett) offer a thorough review of Colby Martin's sermon named "Unclobbering Leviticus". In his sermon, the up and coming progressive pastor attempts to make the case that the Levitical Law did not prohibit same-sex acts, as long as they were committed by individuals identifying as homosexual. This pastor claimed that the Levitical Law only prohibits those who identify as heterosexual from participating in same-sex acts, as though the sexual orientation determines what is sin for one and what isn't sin for another. There's just one problem, there's not a biblical case that supports this view. Progressive Christianity is founded on following the culture and appeasing the culture through any means necessary, often reinterpreting the Bible in order for it to be less offensive to today's society. This movement has therefore rendered itself inconsistent, ungrounded, and false. Morbidly one afternoon I thought to myself, what would I want my last words to be? With that in mind I figured, well, it'd be best to talk about my favorite Bible verses. Sperm and egg do not contain human life complexity potential when separate from one another, neither do in vitro fertilized eggs. d. Fetuses have Thrive and Contribution Potential. e. Fetuses are innocent individuals. f.
