S1 E3: Slam Jam, The Backbone

In episode 3, we’re joined by co-founders of Carhartt WIP, Edwin and Salome Faeh to learn about the symbiotic relationship of the two brands. Luca’s love for America’s surf, sport and music culture was the catalyst for founding Slam Jam. Even earlier in Switzerland, Edwin Faeh embraced the another side of US culture — classic denim, motorcycle jackets and later workwear including Carhartt. In 1989 with his wife Salomi, he co-founded Carhartt WIP. Soon after Slam Jam started distributing Carhartt in Italy. Bonded naturally by mutual interest and attitudes, its likely Carhartt’s price point and consistent sales that allowed Slam Jam to mix cool with e-commerce. Together these two companies have become the backbone of European street culture. As always, thank you for tuning into HYPEBEAST Radio and Business of HYPE.
