Pastor Lohmeyer joins us with a sermon on the impact that we have had in his community of Alderson, WV. Hear about the "partnership in the Gospel" that we have with him and his church.

Matthew 14:16 "Jesus replied, 'They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat." I'm not arguing with the need. I'm not saying the problem doesn't exist. But I can't solve that. I can't do that. v.18 "Bring them here to Me," Jesus said God has used this type of situation throughout the history of the church to accomplish what He wanted to accomplish. The disciples did what they could do, and Jesus did what only He could do. What Jesus did, was to change your heart. This is how we get to see God working, as He is changing people's hearts and lives. I'll do what I can do, trusting that my Heavenly Father is going to do what only He can do, through me.

The Law never gives us the power to do what it says. Obedience is not an audition for the approval of God, it's a celebration! Galatians 6:1-10 When you see you the way that God sees you, it changes the way that you see others. A Gospel-shaped identity changes our relationship: 1. Restoration will take priority over isolation 2. Comparison will be a trap we avoid. 3. Their burdens will become our burdens. "Let us do good to all people..." And then Paul ends where he began... Galatians 6:14-18

We "keep in step with Spirit" by sprinting to the cross and walking confidently out of the tomb. The core message of Law & Gospel is not about stopping bad things and starting good things, it's about a Triune God who kills and makes alive. Christianity isn't about the Christian in action, but Christ, in the Christian in action.

It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking that the Law is bad and the Gospel is good. For many of us, there's this thought that being told we're free means being able to do whatever we want to do. The Apostle Paul understood that there can be a dark side to freedom. Freedom isn't simply freedom from, it's freedom to... To serve means, when you see a need, meet it and when something needs to be done, do it. v.14 The entire law is summed up in one command: "love your neighbor as yourself." How do you do this? You serve. If I only serve myself, eventually I will be all by myself. How far do I have to take this? John 13:2-5,12-15 Jesus gathered the betrayers, the deniers, and the cowards and He served.

Pastor Tony leads us in a sermon on Galatians 4 and living out of the freedom of the Gospel. We are no longer slaves, we are children of God.

The Son of God became the Son of Man so that the sons and daughters of men might be children of God.

Galatians 3:1-6 We rely on our own performance to climb the ladder of spirtuality. The Galatians believe that Jesus got them on the ladder, but Moses helps them climb the ladder. Grace gets them on the first rung, obedience gets them to the next level. 4 Questions to Knock You Off the Ladder: 1. A question about entry: Did you receieve the Spirt by works? 2. A question about growth: Are you being perfected by works? 3. A Question about suffering: Is your suffering all in vain? 4. A question about miracles: Does God give gifts based on obedience? Galatians 3:10-14 Jesus doesn't wait for us to climb the ladder, he comes down the ladder. "And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us..." John 1:14

Father's Day: Two Questions for Every Dad to Ask Deuteronomy 6:6-7 | Ephesians 6:4 Two Myths of fatherhood: Fathers are optional. Being a father comes naturally. Two Questions for Every Dad to Ask Themselves: 1. As a dad, what can I do to help grow my kid's relationship with God? 2. As a dad, what can I do do help grow my kid's relationship with me? Two Common Mistakes parents maek when it comes to the Spiritual Lives of our Kids: 1. Thinking that it's too late. 2. Confusing a personal relationship with God for a private relationship with God. When the situation is most critical, it's the quality of your relationship with your child that determines the depth of your influence with them. Paul is saying to us as dads that our approach towards raising our kids should match the way God cares for the Church. Two Keys to having a great relationship with your child: 1. They have to feel accepted by you. 2. They've got to have your time. How do I get back what I've lost? You love. You bless. You serve. God cares more about our hearts than our behaviors.

God interacts wtih His people in two ways: Law & Gospel Why? Because we are two things: Sinner & Saint at the same time. Galatians 2:11-14 Galatians 2:15-21

The book of Galatians is written for recovering Pharisees. Acts 13:38-43 Galatians 1:6-12 If a sermon could work in a mosque or a Mormon temple, it's not the Gospel. Many people have experienced a "one word" Christianity: all law and no gospel. Distortions of the Gospel: Legalism: adding rules into the Gospel. Lawlessness: eliminating the Law, which also ends up elminating the need for grace. Glawspel: mixing, mingling, and confusing the Two Words The Gospel doesn't make demands, it only gives.

All of Scripture can be divided up into two words: Law & Gospel. The Law always shows us our sin. The Gospel always shows our Savior. These two words are routinely forgotten, confused, and misapplied. Galatians 1:1-5 Grace and peace is the goal of both words Grace gives the forgiveness of sins. Romans 5:1-2 Peace quiets the voices that pull us away. The voice of God speaks the words that you need to hear the most.

You are all gifted! There are some spiritual gifts that God gives all of His children. Just like there is a wide range of people who vary in their abilities, interests, personalities, emotions, mental capabilities, aspirations, and unique spiritual gifts... we all have different spiritual gifts, but they are all from the same Holy Spirit! "Each one should use whatever gift he has recieved to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms." 1 Peter 4:10 We do all of this "in view of God's mercy."

What's the difference between unity and uniformity within the Body of Christ? Why is unity so important to the mission of the Church? "as it is, there are many parts, but one body." Envy despises what God has given me and exalts what God has given everybody else. Pride exalts what God has given me and despises what God has given everybody else. Faithfulness embraces what God has given me and celebrates what God has given everybody else.

Scripture tells us that "in all things (both good and bad) God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose." -Romans 8:28 Many times we feel like our failures disqualify us from speaking into the lives of other people, yet that experience in your past may be exactly what God wants to use to communicate to someone else in the present. Remember that your Savior Jesus has saved you, and has redeemed you. You are defined by what He has done for you, not what has been done to you or by you.

Pinch yourself... are you alive today? If so, then God has some reason for you to be here on earth. Jesus' followers were probably asking similar questions... "now what?""what are we supposed to be doing with our lives?" John 20:19-23 gives their charge from Jesus: "I'm sending you to preach repentance and forgive or retain sins." Consider who Jesus gives this important responsiblity to. The absolute helplessness of God's servants show the power of God! God sends foolish, sinful, unworthy people to proclaim His salvation message. Isaiah 55:8-9 The plan of the the Lord has not changed. He still sends sinners to tell other sinnners the good news about His salvation. He still gives sinners the authority to forgive sins. John 20:24-28 tells us about Thomas... we should probably call him Unbelieving Thomas. God sent him to a far-away land to spread His good news. We are sent by Jesus to tell people about their need for repentance and the good news of His forgiveness because of His sacrifice for them. Let's go!
