Episode 2: In Loco Parentis
This week we explore the unexpectedly complex (and sometimes fatal) history of university judicial codes. We also interview a high-level ex-administrator from Vanderbilt University. Where did we come from and where are we going? Thanks to Washington University Political Review (www.wupr.org) for hosting us! Episode 1: The Fall
On the night of October 26th, 2013, a Washington University in St. Louis student fell to his death from a high-rise apartment building. He, along with his friends with him at the time, was tripping on LSD. Now, his family is suing the university for wrongful death. They blame university judicial codes sheltering students who misbehave from the real law, thereby sheltering them from real consequences as well. We use this premise to look at the university's role in non-academic life.
