Alan put on his first pair of boxing gloves when he was 8 years old and beat the guy who was bullying him. He's a pro-active kind of guy! He later became an amateur, then a professional boxer. Today he is the North American Coordinator of the World Boxing Foundation and an International Boxing Judge. Alan founded No Teen Riders, Inc., a nonprofit company, to create awareness of the dangers to riders in cars with inexperienced drivers. He has been nominated for a "Rising in Community Excellence (RICE) Award" in Atlanta, GA. Then his father remarried and things changed. Enrique learned about kidnappings and corruption. Enrique served in the Mexican Army as a paratrooper, and he liked the military life. He tried to enlist in each of the branches of service in the U.S., but because of an eye problem he was not able to do so. He works in the automotive field now, managing a service shop in Camp Pendleton. He says he is addicted to motorcycles, riding them and working on them. His dream is to own a motorcycle repair shop. It's been a dream since he was a child. Another very important dream is to become a U.S. citizen. Enrique was brought to our attention by Ron Neilson. Coping with Chronic Pain

Talbot, MA, DTM, Certified Speech Language Pathologist and Certified Hypnotherapist has spent her life finding solutions. As a young child learning to walk, she often fell and cried out in pain. Finally, doctors discovered that one of her hip sockets was missing, but that could be fixed. She outgrew that solution when she was 12 years old. Each stage of her lif there were new challenges. She founded a chronic pain outreach group and helped others facing similar challenges. The group soon expanded to other locations. Gwen is also a breast cancer survivor of 20 years. This experience underscores her belief in the important value of clear communications, speaking, listening, and nonverbal. These skills are critical in doctor-patient communications and may have saved her life. She is a strong supporter of Toastmasters International. Then she struck out on her own and travelled to New Delhi, then to Mumbai where she landed a job. "I wasn't worried about my mistakes," she said, "I was worried about my knowledge and whatever resources I had." She held on to her moral values and was prepared to quit when a man disrespected her on her first job. She later founded World Woman Fundation which helps young women ages 18 to 35 successfully find their way in the business world. "Women need to collaborate more.
