The rap game is no stranger to seeing it’s contestants being killed in their own city by their opponents. It’s a highly favorable and unfavorable trend within the hip-hop community only. This trend hasn’t been picked up by country singers, pop stars or any other genre but rap. Within the last few years we’ve witnessed some very talented artists being murdered in their own cities. Rest in peace to Mo3 and Nipsey Hussle. Rappers have been getting murdered in their own cities since the beginning of time but as of lately those two brothers tragic deaths have been examples to us and now we suddenly have to add another brother to that list… Rest in peace young Dolph… Damn! We could go in the direction of when does this nonsense stop but on the other hand we also got to take accountability for where we are lacking within our own circles. The real question I wanna know the answer to is why was that man solo? And if he wasn’t solo where was his people? Why wasn’t that man protected at all costs? We got to start protecting our key players and making sure that our bread winners are protected. On a sidenote…. Rose city lost a very valuable player and heaven definitely gained a angel. We lost someone who was a very good example to these young brothers and to some of us grown men that needed guidance or a role model. Being in a relationship isn’t the easiest task for anybody. The emotional roller coasters, the high-levels of expectations & the different insecurities one might have. Mood swings, drug and alcohol addiction, mental or physical abuse and etc… Those are just a few of many situation or scenarios that one might have to deal with while in a relationship. What if a person is not mentally equipped to be able to handle the next persons whatever? A person can love somebody so much that they’re willing to put their selves through the ringer just to be able to have “ love” in their life. Knowing that they’re not equipped to handle this type of a relationship. That lady’s & gentlemen is a form of toxicity. From a man’s perspective it feels like the level of expectation that is require to sustain a relationship is completely off balance by a long shot. If something goes wrong in the relationship, its the man’s fault? In a relationship a man is not allowed to have or show any kind of emotions He has to put up with & deal with whatever comes his way without being emotional, showing any signs of weakness and handling it how it comes. The phrase in 2020 has definitely became “you’re a man? Deal with it”… That’s insane! If we want to talk about equality… Men need & want love just like women do. Men get emotional just like women do. One of the most interesting stories I’ve heard in a long while. My guy mighty literally had nothing & turned everything into something. From being homeless and sleeping in cars with his mother, from couch to couch & attending 11 different elementary schools as a child, young Mighty did not let his unfortunate situation stop him or discourage him from being great. How does a child with so many questions but not enough resources channel such confusion? By the age of 12 mighty had found his resource and put every ounce of emotion into it. Rap had became his new channel & through music he had now began to gain the resources he needed in order to make away for him and his family. Social media definitely is a drug for some people. A lot of people will lose their mind if they make a post and don’t get a certain kind of reaction or a certain amount of likes in a timely fashion. Some folks have literally dedicated their lives to wanting to be famous on social media. Which in some cases have successfully worked for some folks. Millions have tried but only a hand full have succeeded. Mighty has definitely been chasing the bag and it shows. We’re proud of Mighty and his hard work. Fourth of July was a weird one for everyone this year in the Pacific Northwest… After dealing with 117° weather we were banned from being able to purchase fireworks and celebrate this holiday. The most severe heat wave in the history of the Pacific Northwest is near its climax. Today (Monday) soared to at least 113 degrees , the highest temperature in more than 80 years of record-keeping. Oregon was the only state to enter the union with a constitutional band against African-Americans owning property or living in their community. Throughout the 20th century portland had less than 2000 black residence. Within the span of four years the black population in Portland Oregon area exploded! At the end of World War II President Henry J Kaiser built a mass boat operation in Portland. Recruiting not only blacks but white folks as well from the south. During the war years the African-American population in Portland grew to as large as 25,000. In 1943 the city of Van port which is a small town that was once located in between Vancouver Washington and Portland Oregon was a country‘s largest public housing development. After the war the attitude of the political parties (mayor Riley & The council) change significantly. They wanted van poor gone immediately. They started tearing down and demolishing the neighborhood apartment building by apartment building. Memorial day 1948 is when the drastic sudden change occurred. The city that was known as Van port was completely underwater within 45 minutes. The water had cascading the area upwards to 15 feet high. Folks of the neighborhood were literally running for their lives up Denver Avenue to escape the flood. The town had lost about 13 people and everything they have worked hard for. The tragic and horrible destruction of Van port birth a new community. Thousands of a van poor evacuees merged into a new area of town which we called today Albina Ave! If you from Portland & don’t know who Richy Qwavoo is you must be living underneath a rock. My boy Quavoo is most definitely the rose city Viral king. On a side note, I feel like Quavoo doesn’t get the respect he deserves as an artist in general. After the numerous projects that he’s released throughout the last 10 years and not to mention him being a part of the biggest movement in underground music and mixtape history (Coast to coast mixtapes) leaves me with two questions. 1) why hasn’t someone like Richy Qwavoo that is obviously talented with music hasn’t made it yet? 2) if coast to coast would’ve stayed in Portland Oregon would that have gave the rose city a real chance at having a hip hop music scene?
