Impostor Syndrome
Impostor Syndrome is a pattern where a person doubts their skills and successes and has an internalized fear of being discovered as a fraud. It causes one to question if they're good enough to be who other's think them to be.These stinkin' fears really can suck the life out of feelings of pride and the ability to accept future successes.Dream BIG always and in all ways!Love Vanessa

6 Steps to Starting NOW
6 Steps To Starting NowOh Monday! Sweet predictable, ambitious Monday. How we love to despise you. Make broken promises to you. And give you the power to start life anew. We blame you for an unfulfilled week and chastise you for showing up at the end of a weekend. Yet, you're reliable and you always show up on time. You give hope when we've given up on our own self discipline and make us accountable before we even prove our accountability. Monday helped me realize the 6 steps to starting now and believe me, they came from hard lessons learned.Broken PromisesHave you ever made a promise to yourself that you will start doing 'the thing' on Monday and then Monday comes (because it always does) and you.... Forget your promise Push it off until next Monday Lose interest in your promise Decide there's no way you can commit to your promiseDecide that your promise results are too far awayIt's OK, we've all done it and then have beaten ourselves up because we didn't get started. Why You Didn't Get Started NowI have found a thousand excuses as to why I pushed off taking the next step towards launching a new project, starting a new goal or committing to a diet. I've even blamed my lack of response to being too tired or the weather was too yucky OR I'm just not in the 'zone' today. Have you been there? It's not because of laziness, usually it's far from the simpleness of that. It's something much more sinister that convinces you into delaying the satisfaction of completing your goal. And it's not lack of motivation, well not always. It's fear! Why Fear Does 'That'I love sharing info about fear and the crazy power it can have over the whole body. It's because it took me a really, really long time to finally understand why I sometimes seemed to lack the follow through needed to start and finish well thought out plans and ideas. I'd spend days and sometimes years lamenting over the lost opportunities and possibilities. Eventually bits and pieces of my self confidence just left and I lost the ability and the will to dream.Fear Does 'That' Because it wants us to stay the same, even if that sameness is toxic, unhealthy and is taking us no where Because it thinks that it's keeping us safe from pain, heartache or failure Because it can sometimes drag up past mistakes and failures and use them as excuses to not take the next stepBecause it causes us to second guess ourselves, our motives and abilitiesBecause it's insecure and wants us to believe the lies it tells usBecause the unknown results and consequences can be scaryBecause it's comfortable being in fearI'm sure that when you made your plans to start on Monday you weren't planning not to start on Monday. So, lets take the steps to get into action and take you to your goal starting today!6 Steps to Starting NOWHere are the 6 Steps Starting Now, Taking Action and Achieving Goals.1. WHY Do You Want That GoalWhy are you wanting to achieve that goal, start that diet or take on that new opportunity or project? Write down your reasons for wanting to succeed. What does it do for you when you have accomplished your goal? How will it make you feel when you've won? What will the outcome be? WHY is it important to you? This doesn't need to be complicated or take pages and pages of information. Just answer why is it important for you to start now and win later.2. Have Faith In YOUAre you planning to start and not finish? NO! You're starting today because you have the burning desire for something better for you. Do you like the frustration that comes with not following through with your goals? Again, I've already pointed out the sinister plans of fear and why it's stopping you. But, what fear isn't counting on is your abilities and need to move forward. Have faith in you, you are born with so many gifts and talents.3. Face Those Fears Starting NowLook, that nagging voice that's causing you to doubt yourself or your abilities is a liar! When worries that you won't succeed start to creep up on you, take a step back and look at what the issue is. Why are you feeling this way? What are you worried about/afraid of? Find the answer and keep on going. One step can be the biggest step you will ever take. Take it and then take another!4. It's Time to Get UncomfortableThe ZONE! Our comfort zone. The crazy thing is, it's made to sound so comfortable, but it's so painfully lumpy as well. It's like that old sofa you got from your grandma when you first moved away from home. It was so reassuring and comforting, like a great big ol' hug of protection. But, now the springs are starting to poke through and the legs are broken. It needs to go! Your comfort zone is meant to be comfortable for only a short time and then it's time to move on and create a new zone. Something different and exciting! A zone that brings out the best of you not one that keeps you stuck and unhappy.5. Face The FailuresIf the reason why you haven't yet taken action is being afraid of failure, then you need to get past that. Failure happens, it's just part of being alive. There are a few things really great about failures:you can learn from themyou can teach others from your experienceyou know what not to do next timeyou get to try over and over again6. It's All About YOU NowNow it's your time! Nobody else is living your life for you, so now is the time to be reliant on YOU! Stand up and make your decisions count. Be firm and creative with your choices and stand by your strengths. It's your commitment and determination that will get you started right NOW!The 6 Steps Starting Now aren't complicated. It's all up to you my friend! But when you're thinking about not following through with your goals, think about this; how many days, months, or years are you willing to wait before leveling up and taking on your life? Here's a great blog post from Positive Psychology dot com on goal setting. And remember,I love ya!Love Vanessa

Creating The Meaning Of Life
What if we have it all wrong and should be creating the meaning of life instead of searching for it?"Many persons have the wrong idea of what constitutes happiness. It's not attained through self-gratification but through fidelity to a worthy purpose." -Helen Keller

Childhood rape survivor and courageous author with guest Nancy Legere and her book 'Life in the Shadows'
Nancy Legere - 'Life in the Shadows''Childhood is a time of innocence, discovery, making friends, learning and enjoying simple, uncomplicated days filled with laughter and fun. But what happens if those idealistic hopes and dreams are squashed in an instant when that little girl is sexually abused? What then?Life in the Shadows is the true story of how one such little girl lived with crippling feelings of shame and an overwhelming need for secrecy. What followed was a life struggling to cope with severe symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder turning to alcohol for relief and escape leading to sleep deprivation and almost absolute isolation.Nancy Legere openly shares how she managed to climb up out of the seemingly never ending darkness that enveloped her life after she was raped at the tender age of seven, and the years that ensued with her falling deeper and deeper into the abyss of anger and fear caused by feelings of self-loathing. Feelings of being unworthy of love and incapable of showing any emotion caused Nancy’s life to spiral out of control to the point of contemplating suicide to end her struggles with life as she knew it.' Steering Out Of Fear, Guilt and Doubt
This past week has been an interesting one.I contracted Lyme Disease in November 2017 and didn't totally understand how it would affect my life so later on.My Lyme has been in remission for a little over a year, but this past week I had a doozy of a flare up which totally knocked my on my butt. A crazy result came from this recent flare up and it made me super uncomfortable with the feelings I was having. The monsters of fear, doubt and guilt decided to move into my head. There are so many effects that Lyme has on the body. This time I had totaly body exhaustion, muscle and joint pain with inflammation. I was frustrated by the amount of guilt I felt for being less productive than I wanted to be regarding my life goals and the guilt lead to fear and doubt. The fear of being vulnerable, the fear of letting myself being derailed and the fear of not achieving my goals. I began to wonder if I actually wanted to achieve my goals and doubted that I was up to the task. There are so many great acronyms for the word FEAR, and if you're into personal development I'm sure you've heard a few.FEAR- False Evidence Appearing RealFEAR- Forget Everything And Run (I like this one because it speaks to the basic human instinct of fight or flight)But I think I have come up with a better acronym:FEAR- Forget Everything And Freakin' RunThat's what fear does, it causes you to forget the important things (unless your life is in danger then RUN), and abandon all hope. It causes your brain to go into information overload and run unlikely scenarios and create imaginary monsters as a result of not knowing what will happen next. But, do you see how, by adding 1 'freakin' word fear can totally be disrupted? By changing 1 thing fear can be thrown out of wack leaving room for something else. It leaves room for change.Life is a constant ride of battling the steering wheel in order to stay on the road. Sure there will be speed bumps and detours and sometimes the grass that grows up on the side of the path will try to pull you off course, but we all have the power to choose to correct the wheel and proceed to the desired destination.WE ALL have the power to choose the direction we go in life and to correct that direction over and over again. For me my Lyme flare up thought it had the power to change my path, but I decided that it was wrong. Dream BIG always and in all ways!I love you!Love Vanessa

Big Audacious Goals
Big Audacious GoalsWhat are big audacious goals? Goals so awesome that you’re a little scared to write them down. Why is it important to have goals, especially now with the COVID-19 pandemic still affecting our lives?A few people are saying now is the time to just relax and reflect on what’s happening, but I’m wired to look for ways to positively impact my life by setting goals I want to achieve in the next year.So many people say they have had strange effects from the self-isolation; tiredness, exhaustion, eating more than typical. Usually during a time of danger or uncomfortableness the fight or flight response activates, it’s a natural instinct. But now we can’t fight or flight from COVID-19, so our bodies are confused and that’s why we are having a hunkering down effect where our bodies are preparing for what’s going to happen next.By having a list of goals, it gives us something to strive for and to work towards and the results of checking achieved goals off your list gives a huge feeling of pride and satisfaction. So, think of everything you have ever wanted to do and write it down, then make a plan reach each goal. If you don’t achieve a goal during the next 12 months, add it to next year! The whole point to listing every goal you have ever wanted to achieve, specifically during this time is to use this time as a blessing, as a way to prosper and discover your ability to succeed in a goal when you make the decision to.Remember: there is only growth or decline, there is no middle. Every living thing is either growing or declining.Dream BIG always and in all ways!Love Vanessa!

Has Negativity Become The New Normal? With Co-Host Tony Canevaro
**This interview was recorded prior to Covid-19 social distancing/self isolation.** PLEASE STAY HOME AND HELP OUR WORLD HEAL. XOXOI recently had a coffee date with a good friend. When we get together we cover ever topic you can imagine, always laugh, make fun of each other and leave with an "I love you" and a hug. She's pretty damn great to be around. After leaving our date, my mind began to recall our conversation about posts and comments on social media and something hit me like a hammer. Why was I drawn into reading the negative remarks? Frankly, I began to feel icky about it. It has nothing to do with her awesomeness, but with the awareness of my willingness to silently engage in reading those train wreck threads and continue to be a part of the groups that turn a blind eye to tasteless and uninformed comments and insults. And, that uncovered a question I had never asked before; when did being negative become so popular and so socially accepted? Has negativity become the new normal? Is It The Need For Acceptance And CommunicationThe internet has opened worlds beyond worlds. Suddenly, a person from another continent is a next door neighbor and the freedom of privacy, a thing of the past. Unimaginable information is available at a keystroke and news outlets eagerly await the next big story, and as much as I would wish it was the opposite, negativity and scandal sells and is gobbled up by a voracious public's appetite.Social media has become both a blessing and curse. It connects friends, families and strangers in interesting ways. Long lost relatives and mostly forgotten friends are reunited and reacquainted, and distance no longer becomes a roadblock to maintaining those relationships. That is one of the many gifts of social media. Then there's the other side. The darker more sinister side that allows a person to say things that would never be spoken out loud and make judgements and comments that probably wouldn't be said in person and definitely wouldn't be encouraged in such a gang-type mentality.I'm sure you've seen or read them, those negative comments or commentary on the internet. Some call them 'keyboard warriors' or 'fake news' used to entice controversy. It's wrong, it's sad and leaves a bad taste for the state of humanity. So then, why has it become so popular to feed the negativity? Is it the want for communication and the need for acceptance that causes the appearance of camaraderie when there's a dog-pile of criticisms on a post? Is it that finding others with a mutual opinion or view on a topic makes us feel validated or part of a group because it enables back and forth communication however damaging that communication might be?Have we become comfortably numb to the wrongness of how negativity is viewed as somehow positive criticism on the internet? As Tony says, "If you selectively delberately choose to ensure that you include looking for positive information that fits your worldview will change what you see."Tony suggests:It's a behavior choice. In order to change something two things must happen, A. become aware of what you're feeding yourself, B. then you can made different choices.Switch the channel in your mind to something else. 'Cancel or delete' those thoughts and replace them with what you want. Interact with positive content on social media.I will continue my journey into this unsettling phenomena and keep you posted. Until then read these gentle words by one of the greatest heroes of the 20th/21st century."The media shows the tiniest percentage of what people do. There are millions and millions of people doing wonderful things all over the world, and they’re generally not the ones being touted in the news." What Are You Focusing On?
What are you focusing on? Here's the article I wrote for The Life Coach Marketplace, Sometimes The Hardest Part About Being Human Is Being A Good One.By being consciously aware of what we're focusing on we can literally change our lives. Focusing on bills, stress, unhappiness etc. more of those thoughts and situations will continually pop-up."Whether you think you can or think you can't, you are right!" Henry Ford. The podcast I refer to is Hal Elrod's, Achieve Your Goals, Episode 305, Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends On It with Kamal Ravikant.A really great self love hack to do every day is look in the mirror and say, "I love you!" and feel it in your heart. Repeat these precious I LOVE YOU words to you multiple times a day. Make a habit of loving yourself by using positive affirmations for self love.Dream BIG always and in all ways!I love you!Love Vanessa Canevaro

Domestic Safety Advocate, Successful Author and World Changer with Peg Ainsley
I'm so excited to introduce the Everyday Superhero audience to my good friend Peg Ainsley! Peg is a writer, writing coach, public speaker and Advocate for Domestic Safety. AND an added bonus is this episode was recorded on International Women's Day!! Toooo awesome!Peg is a successful author. Her first book, 'Love Beyond Reason' is is "a true life account of getting into and out of an abusive relationship, with some pre-abuse history about the survivor. "Love Beyond Reason will be both easy and difficult to read. Difficult because it speaks of something uncomfortable to acknowledge: that today in Canada one in five women will experience some form of abuse in their intimate relationship, 85% of spousal abuse victims are women, and on average every six days a woman is killed by her intimate partner (CBC-TV & Saywell, 2016). Easy because it is spellbinding, well written, and speaks of victory over the silence and shame women often hold when abused." Lyn Merryfeather, RN, BSN, PhD."I am honored to have interviewed such an inspirational woman who shares so much of herself in order to help others who are living with domestic violence. Peg's new book, 'The Safe Escape' is in the works. She is currently looking for contributors of survival stories. How We Can Keep It Together During COVID-19
I know life seems kind of crazy right now. I get it! That's why I really want to share what I do to keep it together during the COVID-19 pandemic and how we can become better from it with a positive mindset. Let's start with some self-love!By setting a daily routine you gain a sense of control.Take time to think about what you're truly grateful in your life. Use positive affirmations to remind you how amazing YOU are and life is!Take time to check-up on how you're feeling. Check your emotions and mindset.Write down what's scaring or worrying you. This let's you look at the fear and helps you think of ways you can make it better. Fix what you can and release what you can't control.Look for the heroes in your community/country. Who is making a difference? Leading positively? Look for those sharing the good stuff! They will help you help others! How can YOU help others? How can YOU be the hero? Use your special gifts or talents to bring others happiness.Leaders within our communities will be stepping up and having a positive impact on the world right now. It won't be the famous, or the typical political leaders, but everyday superheros who will rise and change the world. A huge shift is happening, be a part of the positive change. Together we can get through this. Together we will make the word better.Checkout my Facebook where I'm reading my children's book 'I Want a Dragon'.Dream BIG always and in all ways!
