71. Embracing The Change Curve
So it's been a strangely emotional time for many of us.  Life as we know it has changed drastically for now so I thought it might help and be a comfort for many of you to talk through The Change Curve by Kubler-Ross.  I thought of this when I sat and pondered my own emotions over the last few days.  We used this model a lot in the corporate world and I realised that I was following this again right now and most importantly - that it was normal and ok to feel this way. Are there parts of your body that you don't love as much as you could do.  My friend and I have started our own mini book club and our first book is 'If Life Is a Game, These Are The Rules' by Chérie Carter-Scott and the first few pages in the first chapter are jam packed with simple wisdom that has already been a great reminder of how important it is to value and accept our bodies. Now I have already come a long way in this area over the years - this book which I have dipped in and out of for well over 15 years now played a huge part in the acceptance of my body amongst other things (which I will reflect on in future podcasts!).  So lets look at an example I have and why it's so important to accept and appreciate your body right now - perfection definitely not required! So who or what are you giving your power away to?  For the past 6 months I seem to have given mine away to the sad step - the scale!  I only realised it a few weeks ago however.  It had gone from a neutral measurement to something that was dictating how I felt about myself.  So even though I felt really good in myself, more energetic, good in my clothes, the number on the scale was wiping out those good feelings. 60. I Don't Feel Good Enough - Time To Uncover Your Story
I don't feel good enough - time to uncover your story with this simple yet powerful exercise... So let's explore more about your current story when it comes to your sense of self worth and deservingness and I've got an exercise for you to try if it feels good for you to do so - not because we want to beat the drum of what's happened in the past. I'm not one for going back over the past in great detail since I think it's far more important that we work on our present moment and create a different past for our future if needed....  ...but what we want is to be aware of what is going on and all of the things that have underpinned our sense of self worth up until now.  Because once we have this full awareness, once we are awake to what is really going on, we can then start to change it.
