ECCS № 12 | When We Fall Apart
ECCS № 00012 When We Fall Apart by Stan Mitchell | Conversation Starters https://archive.org/download/ECCS.00012.stan/ECCS.00012.stan.mp3 We find Mary three times at the feet of Jesus. The first time at the feet of Jesus, she’s learning. The Third time, she’s worshiping. The second time is the most relatable, though. Her brother was dead, Jesus hadn’t shown up to heal him. She was sad, and she was angry. When we find Mary at the feet of Jesus, she’s falling apart. ECCS № 7 | A Radiance that Doesn’t Dim
ECCS № 00007 A Radiance that Does Not Dim by Ray Waters | Conversation Starters https://archive.org/download/ECCS.0007/ECCS.0007.Ray.radience.mp3 As the story goes, Moses descended the mountain after meeting with God and his face glowed so brightly that Israelites were afraid of him. He covered his face with a veil, and removed it each time he went up to meet with God. Each time he came down again he covered his face, but only after the Israelites saw that he still had that radiance. Paul taught that Moses covered his face so the Israelites couldn’t see when the radiance began to dim. In this Conversation Starter Ray Waters talks about radiance that is rapidly fading from old, fear-based religion, and the shine that doesn’t fade when we drop the rules and focus on loving God, loving each other, and learning to love ourselves. ECCS № 00006 The Bible Clearly Says! Does it, though? by Stan Mitchell | Conversation Starters https://archive.org/download/ECCS.00006.stan/ECCS.00006.stan.mp3 If you’ve ever gone through a deconstruction process, most likely it complicated the way you relate to the Bible. Having gone through both a deconstruction and reconstruction process, Stan Mitchell is explaining how he learned to fall back in love with scripture by learning to read and interpret it through a progressive lens. If anyone has ever warned you you were on shaky ground theologically because “the Bible clearly says,” you’ll be so glad you listened to this Everybody Church Conversation Starter! ECCS № 00004 You Are Wonderfully Complex! by Ray Waters | Conversation Starters https://archive.org/download/EBC.00004.Ray/EBC.00004.Ray.mp3 This week’s conversation starter is about perspective and uniqueness. We didn’t plan to bring this up a day after the birthday of Dr. Seuss. That was beautiful coincidence because Dr. Seuss wrote, “Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you!” When we were very little, we knew we are good, but many of us stopped believing that after being told over and over again it isn’t true. We are learning to accept that the people who told us we are not good were not right. We’re learning to accept the truth that we are not only good, we are very good. YOU ARE VERY GOOD!
