In the latest episode of the Empowerography Podcast, my guest is Sue West. I have been a nurse for over 33 years, most of which I have been in the labor and delivery room and also taking care of new moms and babies. About five years ago I made the switch over to work in a surgery center, helping people prepare for their outpatient surgeries. After I was furloughed by the current pandemic, I began to question if what I was doing was really my life‘s calling. A close friend of mine had talked about becoming a health coach so I researched the school that she was going to and signed up in May 2020. I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition this past May as an integrative health coach and absolutely love what  I do!! I have always been interested in optimal wellness and health and this is the perfect avenue for me to help others learn how to live their best lives as well! I especially love teaching people about how to switch out some of the not so healthy things in their lives for more healthy ones. I am a mom, to two teenage boys, aged 18 and 14 1/2. I am engaged to an amazing man who has always lifted me up and supported me. I am close with my family; my mom and my dad and my two siblings. In the latest episode of the Empowerography Podcast, my guest is Dawna Lucier. Well my story begins over in Mumbai, India. I was found on the door steps of a Nuns Orphanage. No on actually knows my real age…as all I came wrapped up in was a blanket and a note that read. “Please take care of my baby girl”. I was a blank child. No body wanted me. Except my mother did the best thing she knew of at the time to do. Give me a chance at life. I was adopted in 1973, into a white Canadian family. They already had two children. But they were searching for another. As they had experienced an infant loss. One day they saw an ad in the Vancouver sun, about how this lady was bringing over children from India. So they reached out too see if they could adopt anyone. They wanted a girl. The first girl they requested wasn’t strong enough and passed. I was the next “healthy” one. Now as I type this and reflect on all the trauma and shit I’ve been though, I’m so proud I never turned to anything like drinking, smoking, drugs. I came and healed through all my shit with nothing but resilience, determination, fight, and love, love is what wins. I can happily say my husband and I are now more in love and growing together that if we hadn’t had that set back, I wouldn’t have found my passion or healed all my shit to become the founder, CEO of rebel soul coaching. In the latest episode of the Empowerography Podcast, my guest is Kara Kennish. Kara is a third generation Tim Hortons franchisee committed to utilizing her unique platform to make a difference in our communities. Fueled by the desire to be a change-maker in our world she leverages the notable Tim Hortons campaigns such as Smile Cookie, to raise the bar and challenge the status quo. It is her personal goal to inspire other women specifically through leadership and sport and has the hopes that her actions will help influence others to shatter glass ceilings. Knowing that representation matters, Kara was able to share her own hockey story as a part of Barbie’s Dream Gap project which showcases ways to honour women who are breaking boundaries to inspire the next generation of girls. She presented two of Team Canada’s top female hockey players with their own One-Of-A-Kind dolls to introduce girls to women’s stories from all walks of life and show them they can be anything. With a direct correlation between girls in sports and women who become leaders, Kara credits many of her successes through the lessons she learned through her competitive Judo and Hockey careers such as resiliency and learning how to fail while still showing up the next day, ready to try again.
