How To Find Your Purpose & Stop Living a Mediocre Life
Today's podcast is brought to you by audible.com - get a FREE audiobook download and 30-day free trial at www.audibletrial.com/emastercast . Over 180,000 titles to choose from for your iPhone, Android, Kindle or mp3 player. You support audible, they support us, and we keep putting out great content for you. Very simple. So what is my favorite recommendation to make your first free audiobook? "How to Stay Motivated" by Zig Ziglar. This audiobook is around 8 hours long, but it's broken up into several different sections, where you get to here several of Zig's best motivational speeches. As Zig says, "motivation isn't necessary, but neither is bathing. But it really does help!" And this book more than any other will give you a different outlook on life and your work ethic. At the time of this recording, we are nearing 500 members in our Chicago chapter and I'm currently launching a new Savannah chapter. About half of our members run their business full time, while a quarter is just starting out, and the last quarter desperately wants to start a business but don't know what they're passionate about. Or don't know what they could be successful at. This is who I'm talking to today. The 25% of listeners who are desperately trying to find their passion. So here's my definition: Passion is what you love. Purpose is what people love you for. Passion is what you love. Purpose is what people love you for. My passion is disc golf. Give me a beer and a Gatorade and I can play all day every day, never get tired and never get bored. But in comparison to a professional level player, I suck. People don't love me for it, I love it. My purpose, however, is to connect and inspire people. When I think back, I've always been the connector between groups of people. I was a jock, a nerd, a band geek, and the prom king in high school. Because of that, I can see when two people will hit it off and grow together. And people love me for it! It's my purpose without a doubt. So here's how you find your purpose. Whether you're in the car, working out, jogging, or on the train, I want you to take a deep breath, clear your mind and ask yourself, "What do you want to give to the world"? Some of you immediately began thinking big, when I said that. And that's good. Some of you are thinking that you can't do it because you've never done anything great before. And you're wrong. Some of you ju

5 Books Every Entrepreneur Should Read
Welcome everyone to emastercast,  Chicago's one and only business podcast, where we showcase some of the best and brightest entrepreneurs, business owners, and coaches in our community. So thank you for joining us here today. I don't have an interview for you this week but I wanted to make sure I gave you something this week that could help you in your business. I read a lot. Well, I listen to a lot of audiobooks. I naturally enjoy consuming a lot of information and I want to pass some of that on to you. SO below is my list of 5 books every entrepreneur should read. It'll be a really quick show, I'll tell you the book, recite a couple of my favorite quotes, and give you my biggest take away from each book. And, these are in no particular order, they could all be my favorite business book.    The Millionaire Next Door - Thomas J. Stanley, William D Danko favorite quote - “Many people who live in expensive homes and drive luxury cars do not actually have much wealth. Then, we discovered something even odder: Many people who have a great deal of wealth do not even live in upscale neighborhoods.” “Wealth is more often the result of a lifestyle of hard work, perseverance, planning, and, most of all, self-discipline.”  My takeaway - High-income earners, don't necessarily have a lot of wealth. A foreign car, large house, and designer clothes don't make you a millionaire. You can have a high income and be poor at the same time. It reinstalled what my mother told me as a child, "It's not how much money you make that matters, it's what you do with the money you have." Rich Dad Poor Dad - Robert Kiyosaki “Rule #1: You must know the difference between an asset and a liability, and buy assets. If you want to be rich, this is all you need to know. It is rule number one. It is the only rule. This may sound absurdly simple, but most people have no idea how profound this rule is. Most people struggle financially because they do not know the difference between an asset and a liability. “Rich people acquire assets. The poor and middle class acquire liabilities that they think are assets, “ said rich dad.”  My Takeaway - My biggest revelation after reading Rich Dad Poor Dad, was the Cashflow quadrant and that the goal is to go from an employee to an investor as fast as possible. I also
